  1. (Man I don't even know if this RP is still alive but I'll post on the off-chance someone will reply, anyways.) So many new voices and names! Guiding Light was only able to see smeared colors and shapes, so she could vaguely associate names with odd blotches of colors as she came to take her seat. She liked how cheerful the one that called itself Viridian Spark sounded, and Maxim seemed like he had a good sense of humor. The sudden collision of the newcomer had surprised her greatly, but at hearing he too was blind, she couldn't help being curious. "You said your name was Ranger?" she began politely. "I understand how you feel. I was born almost completely blind as well."
  2. Oh I know that. But that was in response to the fandom, rather than the fandom responding to the show. The ship existed before then.
  3. I'm a little curious, when did fans start shipping these two and why? I've asked a few times in other places and I never really get a solid answer. I don't really get it myself. And after the absolute fiasco that was The Last Round-Up, I reeeeaaaally don't think pandering so directly to Bronies is a good idea. It just makes more trouble than it's worth.
  4. I normally use Chrome, but for some reason the forum absolutely REFUSES to load on Chrome anymore so I have to view it with Firefox. I'm really not sure what happened. I didn't change any settings or anything, and this is the only site that I have that problem with.
  5. Really the only thing that sticks out here as a problem to me is his head. It should be a bit more circular. Also, there shouldn't be a black outline around one eye, but not the other. It makes the right eye stick out kind've awkwardly. I did a little mock-up here to show you what I'm talking about. Other than that, I dig! The body shape is really great, especially the back legs. Nice work!
  6. I'm really confused as to where this one came from. It just sorta. Got popular out of seemingly nowhere. People keep mentioning it all over the place and I just plain don't get it. Some of them are funny, but for the most part I don't get the appeal.
  7. Ha! This is very similar to my little brother's introduction to the show. He kept going on and on about how annoying Bronies were, but eventually he took me up on my offer to watch it and he got hooked pretty fast. Welcome to the forum, dude!
  8. Heights. Bees and wasps. ESPECIALLY WASPS -- one flew into my brother's apartment while I was alone once and I was so scared I locked it in his room and waiting until he came home so he could let it out. Death. Illness and germs. Chemicals. Snakes. Some spiders. Being followed on the street. Sometimes the dark. Yyyep.
  9. This reminds me of another issue I do have, that I wish would be improved. In the interest of keeping on topic and not spiraling off in another direction. Whenever someone of a minority group with a contrary opinion speaks up and has a problem with something they perceive as insulting, they tend to get shot down and accused of just trying to be "politically correct" and therefore encouraging censorship or whatever it is that phrase even means anymore. See: the Derpy drama. I'm not talking about "political correctness". I'm talking about respecting the viewpoints of people, and being more mindful of their feelings and opinions. Homophobia and sexism has become so normalized, I feel like it HAS to be an outright insult for people to really realize what they're doing. I will say, I don't really feel a need to "call people out" for using the expression "coming out" exactly, as much as just point out "yo, that doesn't really apply here" and explaining my reasoning. I dunno. I'm sorry I made you so mad, that wasn't my intent.
  10. "just giving you a heads up on that" Please don't patronize me if you're going to try and make a point. It's not like I'm not aware that people don't like it, but people get uncomfortable when you call them out on things anyway so the best one can do is try to explain their reasoning and hope the other person will understand. Coming out is a pretty serious deal and admitting to someone you like a show really doesn't compare to that. People pick on others for all sorts of things. It's not like you have to "come out" about liking certain kinds or music or "come out" about liking Glee or something. There's so many other words one could use to describe the experience. I just wish people didn't use such a serious phrase to talk about a hobby, that's all. Not like NOBODY CAN USE IT EVER, I mean, I don't care if people joke about it. It's just when it gets used unironically that it irks me.
  11. It's still not a Brony's phrase to use, nor should it be. The problems you're talking about do not stem from Bronyism; they stem from homophobia, and patriarchal BS about what men are supposed to be like and that being womanly in any way is an insult. I'm not saying it doesn't suck to have people pick on you because you like ponies, but the consequences of actually being gay or suspected of being gay far outweigh those of people finding out you're a Brony. The biggest thing I can think of is I really wish people would call out bad behavior more rather than resorting to: 1) "well not ALL fans are like that!" or 2) "Just leave them alone, it's not hurting anyone!". I've seen so many people jump to the defense of their fandom and not to the defense of an actual person being slandered or bullied so many times, and it really bothers me. This is a HUGE problem on tumblr and deviantART, and as these are rather large revenues for fandom activities, I really think those behaviors should be kept in check. I'm always quick to point out sexism/racism/homophobia/whatever when I see it. It might not seem like a big deal, but it normalizes a very toxic sort of thought process that justifies rather cruel behaviors that actually DO hurt people. Also stop attacking the writing staff/sending angry letters/angry tweets/angry Facebook posts to Hasbro. I don't care how mad you are about a change in the show; making threats and saying they should follow YOUR vision of the show rather than theirs just makes Brony fandom come across as super entitled. (I mean these things in general, as I've not observed these problems here on the forum)
  12. Separate of the other Chosen-to-be and their ragtag gatherings of friends and acquaintances, Guiding Light had not opted to meet anypony by the fountain before the ceremony. Not out of spite or dislike of company; she'd simply not made much in the way of friends since moving from Vanhoover due to her mother being admitted to the Ponyville hospital. Vanhoover's facilities had been full at the time, and she was in for an extended stay after breaking her back legs. Guiding Light had supplemented her income by volunteering to do a few odd jobs around town. Her blindness and lack of familiarity with the town made things difficult...but she tried to remain optimistic. There was a reason life had brought her here. Years of attuning herself to the art of pathfinding had taught her that all things, even misfortunes, are an important part of finding one's path. It might not always be easy, but it was always sure. So when she heard others around her speak, in urgent whispers and outright shouts, pressing close to her to catch a glimpse of something, Guiding Light knew that her path had spiraled off in a direction she never could have anticipated. The news did not connect to any sort of emotion. In fact, it really just made her wonder what would have happened if she was back in Vanhoover. She'd be out by now, guiding loggers to the best trees for their latest project. Or maybe she'd be in school, learning about the history of their diverse, wonderful city. Even as she walked, guiding cane tapping in front of her (she could not use her spell at every moment as it became rather exhausting) she did not really feel much of anything. She felt proud of the others who were chosen. They sounded happy. Some sounded scared, and it evoked an intense sense of pity. She let their emotions swirl in her mind as she mounted the stage, let them inspire pathos in her where her own emotions had gone numb. The Element of Love was among them now.
  13. I guess I'd say I'm a Celestia fangirl. If I find good art of her, that presents her as being in-character, then I get this nice little thrill of happiness that can lift my mood a bit if I'm down. I get really excited when she shows up. Heck, I even teared up with joy when she SANG. I do have some level of personal attachment to her...not really in a "SHE'S MAI WAIFU" way, it's more've a love one might feel for a favorite pet, or something close to it.
  14. Uhh. To be fair, Hasbro's a toy company. It's main purpose is to sell toys. It stops selling toys? It gets overtaken by any number of its competetors. It's in a pretty rough market and it's fortunate to have endured as long as it has. See, the thing that irks me about this is the assumption you're right and it's only okay to see things your way. Dude. First up, it's an opinion about an animated children's show about princesses and ponies. It's really not worth getting mad about. Secondly, people are allowed to have different opinions than you. Obviously not everyone sees things the same way. So yeah. I'm not sorry I don't garner an irrational hatred for a decision that, as of yet, hasn't even played out yet.
  15. I do ponifications of my OCs sometimes for funsies, just to see how certain traits would translate to a pony body. I can't really think of many worlds that would make SENSE to cross over with MLP, though, so I generally don't do cross-overs.
  16. I dislike the popular genderbends for MLP. They're just...not all that creative! I mean, okay, some of them are cool like Rainbow Dash's, but man I wish people would step outside the mold and try new things instead of just using those genderbends all the time. And do not even get me started on Eris...
  17. ...this topic is making me wanna check this out too. Curse my insatiable curiosity for train wrecks! Ha! That's actually really awesome. I actually did a psychological analysis of King Candy from Wreck-It Ralph for my Abnormal Psyche final and man it was oodles of fun to write. Getting credit for writing about your fandoms is FUN.
  18. Sometimes in life we have terrible ideas after listening to something we haven't heard in a long time again. This is one of those times.
  19. Ha! Funny thing, I actually started a PMV of Discord set to a cover of Want You Gone a while back because I felt like it fit him, too. This was really awesome. Loved the effects you used for transitions, it worked well with the song. And the ending was spot on. Excellent work!
  20. Oh my God. This. This is perfect. I've never seen a human Discord that looks quite like this and I just have so much love for it. He looks like that crazy hippy uncle that never quite grew up. It's just perfect for him.
  21. Okay, reading back through, NOW I get what you were saying. I don't think people should have to politely state dissent if they feel angry, or even that they need to LIKE what happened. It's okay if they say it sucks! I may not agree at all, but I respect their right to have that opinion. My point was that making demands is simply unreasonable, which is how some people chose to respond. There's a different between stating an opinion and acting like one has the authority to change a decision that was not made for the Bronies in the first place.
  22. From what I gather in my quick Google search, yep, that's Nicole Oliver! I fangirled so hard when she started singing. There was actual tears liquid pride. Good singer, best princess. <3
  23. Hah, I had a derp moment and thought Sunset Spark was the OP. And now I'm a little confused because you're responding like I was talking to you and I was more talking to OP...?? Also I really am not sure what you're saying exactly.
  24. Tough call! I feel like the show's just been getting better and better, personally, in terms of animation and ideas for episodes. I guess I'd say Season 2 since it contains the most amount of my favorite episodes.
  25. I. THINK I get what you're saying?? I'm a little confused as the post seems to kind of ramble a bit. But I do agree about the bit pertaining to complaints with the show. If you've got a problem, don't turn it into some weird crusade like those guys that talked about boycotting MLP: FiM until Hasbro was forced to undo Alicorn!Twilight. That's just petulant as heck and really just goes to show how immature and entitled some fans can get.
