  1. I. THINK I get what you're saying?? I'm a little confused as the post seems to kind of ramble a bit. But I do agree about the bit pertaining to complaints with the show. If you've got a problem, don't turn it into some weird crusade like those guys that talked about boycotting MLP: FiM until Hasbro was forced to undo Alicorn!Twilight. That's just petulant as heck and really just goes to show how immature and entitled some fans can get.
  2. Loved it, loved it, LOVED IT. I so wish it was a two-parter because it felt like it needed a little more run time, but oh man what was there was just really really great. I would be so okay with this being the last episode if the show had ended, because it ended on such a high, wonderful note. ...okay, I wish we'd seen Discord hanging around the castle but you know, that's just me being a picky fangirl.
  3. Rainbow Dash reminds me a lot of my little brother, actually. She's very blunt and just doesn't have a filter like others do. And she just loves to brag about her level of skill. She just strikes me as being very young and proud rather than outright malicious, I dunno.
  4. Wow I am so tired of "HAS HASBRO RUINED ____ ?????". Hasbro is not responsible for everything that happens on the show. Sometimes things sucked even when Faust was on-board too. It's just the nature of television. Anyway. Discord hasn't really changed. He's shifted alliances because being on the "good" side allows him more benefit than being on his own side. I mean, think about it. The reason he changed things back wasn't because he realized he was wrong or that doing things his way hurt people; he even states outright he liked things better when they were chaotic and fun. He agrees to help out because he didn't want to lose the one friend he'd ever had. It was about how it would hurt HIM, not about Fluttershy or her friends. At least not outright. I absolutely think Discord is more neutral than "evil". He's just out to have as much fun as possible.
  5. I listen to darn near everything, but my all-time favorite is classical. Something about it is very stirring to me. I think it's because of the lack of lyrics...it's like instrumental music taps into emotions and thoughts that cannot be expressed with words.
  6. Thanks on both counts! Drawing a character helps me flesh them out, figure out what kind of personality they have. And now she's all done! Name: Guiding Light Character Page link: Here! Zodiac: Libra Element: Love
  7. I dislike the headcanon that Discord is Screwball's father. Just. Any time it comes up in a story, Discord becomes really OOC and overprotective like she's suddenly the most important thing ever to him and. I dunno, I don't really get it. Also I really wish Doctor Whooves wasn't as popular as he is. I just can't get invested in the character because I'm not into Doctor Who.
  8. I'll take the Element of Love, please. I have a good concept in mind for a character that might work for that Element. I'm in the process of drawing her now, so I should have a profile up very soon!
  9. I love this concept! Give me a bit of time to come up with a character and I will definitely sign up for this.
  10. I'd suggest spacing her eyes out a little more, the first time I saw this I thought she had an eye patch. But other than that, dang man, this is some quality work. ESPECIALLY for only having a mouse to work with!
  11. WHAT A CUTIE PIE, MY GOSH. I love the colors you picked for him, they work quite well together. And it's always nice to see Earth Pony OCs, as they do seem to be a bit of a rarity.
  12. Congrats on figuring out who you are. Best of luck on your journey, my friend.
  13. Some of my figurines, as well as stuff I got at ACEN. C: I'm hoping to get a Discord plush and a Celestia figurine and/or plush as well. Also considering getting a custom of my OC Gliese, but we'll see.
  14. I ADORE Cadence and Shining Armor, oh my gosh. They're both such precious cuties, I get so excited whenever they show up again. I guess I get why people don't like them, but I just don't agree that they have no personalities. I dig that they're both just genuinely NICE people, but that they both have limits too. I just like them a lot and they give me a lot of happy feelings. And their relationship is SUPER cute.
  15. Okay. How has this thread existed so long with no mention of Disorderly Conduct? HERESY I SAY. *ahem* But yes I like that one a lot, it was one of my inspirations for starting my ask blog. There's also: Ask the Enamored Clockmaker (this one's run by a dear friend, updates often, and the art is just PHENOMENAL) Ask Techno Wizard (pretty new and it has AMAZING art) Ask PitchPatch (very very interesting on a psychological level) Moonfall (Celestia and Luna origin comic/ask blog) Ask BandyDash (I am SUPER picky about Dash/anyone ask blogs, so beleive me when I say this is worth a follow) Ask Baby Discord (cute as heck, and kinda interesting! The story is still in its early stages) Ask Discord of Discordia (honestly my favorite Discord ask blog, though they haven't answered many questions lately...but it's the most in-character out of all the ones I've seen) Ask Researcher Twilight (Okay, I usually hate grimdark blogs on principle because I feel like they're never done right. This is a great example of such a blog done RIGHT. Amazing art, and actually a rather compelling story and character struggle) Ask L'il Rice Paddy (ADORABLE AS HECK) Ask Love Letters (honestly one of my favorite OCs because she's an incredibly likeable character)
  16. Most excellent! I'm very happy to hear they managed to snag so many new episodes. I hope this means the show's going strong and will continue to do so!
  17. Ooh, that looks pretty snazzy Circadian. If you're still kinda stuck for the right look, what I do for cutie marks is I think up what their talent is and related words to that. Eventually you can find a good fit, even if it's reaching a bit. Also, for colors, I highly suggest picking from a color palatte. One of the biggest issues I have with MLP OCs is the abundance of characters with clashing or just really unpleasant colors. Good luck!
  18. I'd say the "dark side" is more due to personalities than interests. I mean, I've seen people who are into some...interesting things who are absolutely stellar people. Aaaand I've seen a good number of rotten apples that weren't into anything strange. You do hear horror stories about certain big names who happen to be clop artists, yeah, but I've seen some really kind people who just happened to draw grimdark and clop, no big deal. I mean, it's worth pointing too that just because you like that stuff doesn't mean you get off on it. So yeah, I wasn't mad or anything, I guess I was more confused as to why this topic was created in the first place considering the wide range of fans who frequent the forum.
  19. Ehh, I don't really think that side of the fandom is BAD, I just...don't get why it needs a label?? I mean, there's a mature part of damn near every fandom out there. It's just a reality of being part of the fandom scene. Odds are, even in a small group, there will be a person who wants to see those characters doing terrible things to each other. This is the only fandom I've seen that gives those types a whole name and identity. But whatever. Not personally fond of most of the works I've seen, but I'll admit there's some very talented people who draw mature works.
  20. Guys, please don't bully Hasbro about this any more than they already have been. I see a lot of folks here calling anyone who complained anti-Brony or soccer moms (even retarded in one instance...interesting), without even considering why they might have done so in the first place. It was a lose-lose situation for Hasbro, and personally I think Bronies should just be thankful they got that little acknowledgement rather that continuing to demand more.
  21. Dude. People are allowed to have negative opinions. It's not a sign of a lack of intelligence, it just means they have a different perspective. The problem with those comments isn't that they're saying the documentary was bad, it's that they're using slurs and ad hominems to make their point, and making it a personal attack rather than a commentary on a body of work. That's not useful in any way to a discussion. In my opinion, the documentary was harmless. But it didn't really accomplish anything, either. And it kind of just highlighted the issues I have with the fandom: the emphasis on appealing to white, heterosexual males (seriously the part where the psychiatrist said that made me cringe) and a subtle air of homophobia. Almost every one of those boys cringed at the idea of being called "gay" and it was never refuted that there's no problem with that.Heck, there's even some gay men in this fandom! Some parts of the Lets Meet the Bronies song were...kinda mean-spirited (making fun of the previous gens and basically making it look like they contributed nothing useful, and the "well when girls like ponies it's to be expected!" bit like girls are trying to be special snowflakes by just asking to be recognized as valid members of the community. There were barely any women in the documentary at all, actually). Wasn't a big fan of the mention of clopping either, it just felt out of place. But there was some good stuff, too. I liked the footage of the Cons, a lot actually. I wish the whole documentary JUST centered around the conventions, as those parts were handled the best and showed off the most about the fandom itself (the musical talent, the cosplays, the amount of fun everyone had). John DeLancie is such a charming man, oh my gosh. So much charisma and so well-spoken and ahh. It was cool to see him speak. Mrs. Faust seems like a pretty awesome lady too, I liked her segments as well. And while some parts kinda miffed me, I liked the animation as a whole. It was fun. While my opinion is not as severe, I agree with a lot of the points you made. The Brony fandom isn't a social movement. It might be a SYMPTOM of a cultural shift...but I feel like it's not as great as a lot of Bronies might have you believe. Sexism and homophobia are, unfortunately, a very strong presence in-fando, and I've found it's very hard to be part of the group when you don't adhere to the status quo. Not talking about this forum, you've all been lovely for the most part, but I've seen some really really awful stuff other places.
  22. There's a lot of things in fanon I find unsavory, but outright OFFENSIVE? I think that list would be pretty short. - Molestia would be at the very very top. Just. Anything related to the topic makes me angry. I hate it when people are told they're "too sensitive!" if they don't think it's funny. I hate that it's such a popular meme. And don't even get me started on the ask blog. It's not like I lay awake at night cursing the gods above for allowing such a thing to exist, I just wish it was easier to avoid because it really does upset me. I adore Celestia; I think I make that incredibly obvious. And I just don't find rape jokes funny. I used to, but the older and more I've learned on the topic, the more I've realized it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I could go on and on here, but I'll leave that particular rant for my tumblr. - When people portray Discord as a rapist. I hate it. There was a picture of him forcing himself on Applejack and Twilight in the Discord tag on tumblr and I actually had to stop looking because it upset me so much (not like, crying upset but just like that "wow that's not cool" kinda feeling). I've seen a lot of pictures of him forcing himself on the girls and it just doesn't fit his character in my head. I actually kinda imagine him being clueless on the subject of more "adult" matters being a spirit and all but you know that's just me. -When people attack humanizations because of their race or because they don't EXACTLY fit to their headcanons. It's like. Well then draw your own version, jeez. I just wish it wasn't such a big deal and it didn't get pointed out so much, regardless of whether the character is white, black, Hispanic, etc etc. And it irks me that people get in such a tizzy about giving a character a disability or making them a bit chubbier. It just shows an attitude of total intolerance for what's different and it makes me so mad it's so prevalent in a fandom about accepting people that are different than you. -When people assume the Apples would be incestuous because they're country folk. Figure that speaks for itself. There's probably more but those are the big ones that I can think of right now.
  23. I totally get what you mean about romance RPs feeling kinda juvenile. I've considered joining one for OCs I've yet to pair off, but I'm generally really picky about that stuff because I want to be sure the other person is a competent writer and has developed an interesting enough character for me to work with. I'd be interested in an RP like the one you've described though, Cliffhanger.
  24. Wow, dang, these are snazzy! I dig that you've emulated the style of the show while adding a little personal twist to it. And your OC's cutie mark is very unique! I look forward to seeing more.
