What will Twilight control?

Every Alicorn princess controls something that the rest don't. Luna is the moderator of the moon and stars. Celestia controls the sun. Cadence controls love, to an extent.

But what will Twilight's regime cover?

I'm not sure, but I think Twilight will control the entire Elements of Harmony, considering that she is the most important element, Magic.

Friendship obviously, think about it she is the element of magic which is a combination of all the other elements of harmony which are also elements important in friendship and the title of the show is Friendship is Magic. For that reason at least one bit of good news is that Twilight probably won't leave her friends behind, if anything it is likely that she will go back and forth from Ponyville and Canterlot and will probably travel to other places in Equestria though whether the whole alicorn princess concept is going to work is unfortunately still too soon to tell.

Was kind of expecting some 'the longevity of the show' or some such Not sure she has to have control over anything but if she did, I'd assume it would be something along the lines of magic, perhaps a certain type of it (Magic Police Twilight?) Perhaps just getting on with her life keeping highly magical beings in check.

Not really sure how 1 would have any power over friendship and anything to do with the EoH would suck if the other 5 weren't credited too.

She may possibly gain dominion over the concept of frienship, much like Cadence has dominion over the power of love, although I don't see Twilight becoming like her alicorn peers. If she stays this way (which we don't know she will) I can't see her taking up the kind of role Celestia or even Cadence has. The change was kind of forced by Hasbro, and so I think the writers will have to do some serious creative gymnastics to make her new royal position make any sense.

She has the cutie mark for it, the name for it, fits with the Nightmare Moon legend "the stars will aid in her escape", she was looking at the moon when those 4 stars converged on it.... accidental control simply by expecting it to happen?

 

And her whole inspiration that led to becoming a princess was watching Celestia raise the sun. I think she needs a celestial object to control, rather than just an ambiguous domain like friendship... although her cutie mark does very specifically symbolize friendship, being a star (element of magic) surrounded by 5 other stars (the other 5 elements of friendship/harmony)... but friendship is magic, so it also symbolizes magic, and it's also stars, so any of those 3 things could be her job to maintain.

Interesting idea, but Luna already controls them, does she not? Nighttime celestial bodies are  more in Luna's line of work, I would think.

I don't have any idea as to what she will control, but I hope it isn't the Elements. I've never perscribed to the idea that her element, Magic, is more important than the others. Each one is equally important, and if one would to be absent, the whole thing wouldn't work (both metaphorically and literally because the Elements' powers don't work unless everyone is present).

 

To give Twilight complete contol of the Elements would greatly diminish their meaning and the roles of the others.

Magic would make sense, but magic is made by unicorns, and now she's an alicorn so it wouldn't make sense, seeing that she now has wings as well. Also, she already represents the element of magic. I think it's going to be friendship, like stated before, kind of like cadance has power over love.

Kidding, of course.  With day and night taken, I actually think she'll be the princess of sunrise and sunset.  Heck, it's even in her name: Twilight.  Although a princess of hatred would be totally badass.

Good thing you mentioned her cutie mark, because if you went by her name, she'd control Edward Cullen. 

 

I'll go with the obvious and say Friendship.  I don' tthink ti would be fair to give her domain over the Elements or Magic, as I don't want to diminish the importance of the other characters, and giving her domain over magic in general would make her *way* too powerful.

I agree with "Princess of Friendship"

1. As many have already said, friendship is magic in this show. So she would technically also be princess of Magic, her special talent

2. She was granted her wings and princess status due to her studies in friendship, so it makes sense

3. It's been shown that friendship is a pretty big deal for Equestrians, particularly in the Hearth's Warming Eve episode

4. If Cadence is Princess of Love, a Princess of Friendship goes along with that nicely
