i do support her. i feel that since she has already grown immensely in her studies, she might as well advance in her capabilities. plus, she's a prodigy child and Princess Celestia's star pupil, she's pretty much guaranteed to get the best in life. that's just my opinion though.

She will probably have to live in the castle and leave her friends.

And I shouldn't worry about this now, but she'll obviously outlive her friends.

Though I have spoken on this in the past I would just like to say again that is been officially confirmed by the staff that Twilight will not outlive her friends and the book 'Twilight Sparkle the Crystal Heart Spell' shows that Twilight will be choosing to stay in Ponyville. Hmm...  I like her and it doesn't disturb me that she is Alicorn. Hasbro made Twilight alicorn and... Yeah.. I'm telling about not what I should   There is no chose between support and  not support. We can like her or not. Or not. Other way... Hmm... We can support her, of course, but it doesn't do anything. Regardless of wether we support her or not, she is still alicorn.

I support her anyway xD I don't know why, but I love when characters become more powerful. I always make stories with many characters and make them epic.

For example: Monkey D. Luffy - Gear 4&5, Natsu Dragnell - Acnologia younger brother and Demonic Lightning Dragon Slayer, Soul Eater - fusion with Kishin and become Chaos Scythe. And many, many other things.

In sum - Yes, I do support her. I think Twilicorn will be boost for Hasbro that they will must create more beautiful and cool adventures.

I really hate how forced Twilight becoming a princess was. Celestia literally tricked Twilight into being an Alicorn, and she did it by messing with Twilight and her friends like she was Discord or something.

For someone who likes Twilight, I can't stand how she can be treated that way. The whole thing just reeks of Celestia not trusting Twilight making her own decisions. Not respecting Twilight enough to let her live her own life and instead going "Nope, your going to be the person I want you to be"

So yeah, it makes it hard for me to like Twilicorn, she was coerced into the job.

I was alittle suprised when I watched the episode. Im kinda in the middle, it will be cool for Twilight to have wings, but, now whats her goal? She technically completed her studies, so does that mean the plot will change completely? Oh well. we will see what happens in the next season...

Yes, this is a big part of it for me too. Watching over The Crystal Empire, Magical Mystery Cure and Equestria Grils again, Celestia really does come across as manipulative and disrespectful.

In The Crystal Empire she gives the task of defeating Sombra specifically to Twilight, (no pressure. You just might get killed) and then backtracks when Spike is the hero and makes up some on-the-spot moral so that Twilight can pass the test. Yeah, nice one Celestia.

In Magical Mystery Cure, she sets up an almost 'Mouse Trap'-esque series of events with a tacked on explanation about why this makes Twilight a princess, all while never revealing to Twilight about her true intentions.

In Equestria Girls, it's revealed that Twilight hasn't seen the other princesses in a long time. So what? After her coronation Celestia just sends Twilight back home saying, "I'll call you when I need you," without any explanation as to what's expected of her now that she's a princess. And Twilight does nothing! She effectively sits and waits for Celestia to tell her what to do, happily screaming "Please control my life! Please!" Not to mention that Celestia only sends Twilight into the other world because 'it might mess with things'.

In the early days I used to love Celestia's character. She was the ruler of an entire continent, but did so with kindness and respect to those who looked up to her. She even showed that she knew how to have fun! But now... looking back on everything that's happened thus far, it could be argued that Celestia has been a manipulative b***h this whole time, right from when Twilight had her power surge at a young age. Twilight's destiny? Yeah... More like Celestia hoof-picked her and decided to create her destiny for her. (And the whole "But the magic came from Twilight's body!" argument is crap. It's like seeing a hot dog vendor take out a blood bag and cover your hot dog in very real blood that smells exactly like blood, and thinking that it must be ketchup, because ketchup belongs on hot dogs, not blood! i.e. overlooking insurmountable evidence just to conform to one flawed assumption.)

I honestly hope that season 4 can re-instill the boundless love that I once felt for the show, especially since season 3 and Equestria Girls were huge disappointments in my eyes. So yeah, of course I'm giving the show a chance, Twilicorn or not. I will accept that Twilight is a princess and see what the writers can do with this change. But if they disappoint me again then I'm done. No point watching an 'alright' show when I could be watching a 'great' show.

Its unfortunate, but that is how it seems. Ive described the plot of 'Magical Mystery Cure' to people who aren't Bronies and every time their reaction was something along the lines of "Wow, what a bitch".

Also, Ive heard comparisons between Celestia and Dumbledore. Not meant in a good way too.

In Magical Mystery Cure, she sets up an almost 'Mouse Trap'-esque series of events with a tacked on explanation about why this makes Twilight a princess, all while never revealing to Twilight about her true intentions.

Yeah, and not even asking Twilight to accept the responsibility, just thrusting it upon her. Giving Twilight a choice is the one thing that could have made it all better. Good mentors aren't tyrants over their students. But instead Celestia felt it was best to just trick Twilight into it.

In Equestria Girls, it's revealed that Twilight hasn't seen the other princesses in a long time. So what? After her coronation Celestia just sends Twilight back home saying, "I'll call you when I need you," without any explanation as to what's expected of her now that she's a princess. Twilight is not an independent person, at all, that much is clear.

In the early days I used to love Celestia's character. She was the ruler of an entire continent, but did so with kindness and respect to those who looked up to her. She even showed that she knew how to have fun! And this was the finale to the story arc of the show so far. The purpose of all those friendship lessons were for that. What a slap to the face to the essence of the show and a betrayal to the theme of friendship.

I'm going to keep watching the show, its still going to be fun. I'm just hoping that Celestia being manipulative is addressed next season, it would be great if Celestia apologizes or something.

I think that some people are being way overly critical of Princess Celestia.  It is not as if she forced Twilight to be her student.  Twilight was ecstatic to be offered the chance to be Celestia's protege.  Twilight didn't have to try to pass any of Celestia's tests.  She could have left at any time.  People are accusing Celestia of malicious manipulation.  I see her as a kind-hearted mentor.  Also, there is no reason to assume at this point that the alicorn transformation is irreversible.  I am sure that Twilight could choose to give it up if she wanted.

I've also had teachers that I really looked up to and wanted to please. I did what they asked of me because I trusted them. But none of them, after the semester was over, turned around and announced without warning or permission that they were making me a teacher as well in some big school assembly meeting. I'd be pretty freaked out by that, wouldn't you? I wouldn't be ready, I didn't connect with other kids very well, and they'd resent me for getting the job just because I was at the head of the class for a while. There's no way I'd be able to handle that. If they'd asked first, I would have said "no way." And Twilight's inherent responsibilities are so much greater.

My view is that with Hasbro's influence, it was decided among the writers that Twilight had to become an alicorn. Celestia was the only one who could (or would) change her into one. They knew that much. But there just wasn't a convincing way to do it, and couching the plot with a bunch of songs couldn't hide that. The fact that Celestia sprung the promotion on her without notice was a tacit admission that Twi would have rejected the promotion if Celestia had simply asked her. And I think what's what a lot of Twilicorn supporters don't want to talk about. You won't find many bronies who really believe that if Celestia had asked "So, my faithful student, would you like to become an alicorn this afternoon?", Twilight would have said "yes." (Much less "yes yes yes yes yes!") Because we know her better than that.

I have to believe the writers knew better as well, but again, Twilight had to become an alicorn. So Princess Celestia couldn't ask her permission beforehand (which, unfortunately, only worsened the nagging issues with her character), Twilight couldn't freak out or act terrified or protest the decision even though it fits her and she had every reason to do so, her friends had to take it all in stride and act like everything was going to be okay to the point of saying it to our faces because, from a writing standpoint, it had to be okay.

It wasn't okay with me.

Ok, I have to bring this up, because a LOT of people misrepresent or misunderstand what happens in the scene.

Celestia did NOT TURN Twilight into an alicorn.

Watch the scene again, her horn did NOT flair up or glow.  The magic came from within Twilight, signifying individual growth in power and what have you.

Again, Celestia may have guided her, but Twilight put in the work.

People are accusing Celestia of malicious manipulation.

I wouldn't go so far as to accuse Celestia of manipulation, but she has some serious explaining to do with turning Twilight into an alicorn without even telling her about it first. Twilight knew that Celestia had big things planned for her but I don't think she imaged those big things would be becoming an alicorn princess, so simply placing this level or responsibility on her without telling her beforehand unless she has a really really good reason for it was a boneheaded move.

1. Celestia did NOT make Twilight an alicorn, that came from her student.

2. We did NOT know how great or what responsibility Twilight will have.

3. Like she did during Keep Calm and Flutter On, Twilight WOULD speak out against her mentor is she had a problem with what was going on.

Celestia has been and always will be a mentor and guide Twilight, she helped her student on the path of her destiny but did not force Twilight to do anything.

If Celestia did not give her that test than Twilight would never have become an alicorn so though Celestia didn't literally turn her into one she did give her a test that she knew would turn her into one if she passed and didn't even tell her that. Yes we don't know what Twilight's new responsibilities are going to be, but Celestia still has some explaining to do and that explanation will be one of the key factors as to whether or not this actually ends up working out. And since when has Twilight ever spoken out against Celestia? I hope she at least does some questioning, in the Equestria Girls movie she had some doubts which is an encouraging sign but I would like her at some point to ask Celestia exactly why she placed this level of responsibility on her especially without telling her beforehand.

“It is a curious thing, Harry, but perhaps those who are best suited to power are those who have never sought it. Those who, like you, have leadership thrust upon them, and take up the mantle because they must, and find to their own surprise that they wear it well.”

A quote by one I feel Celestia is much like: both wise if at time withholding mentors to the main character.

Also did you seriously just ask when did Twilight ever speak out against Celestia? For one I told you, and two I thought you were reading my posts? In 'Keep Calm and Flutter On' Twilight strongely questions Celestia's judgement in wanting to release Discord. Heck if one considers it maybe the reason for not telling Twilight about the test is the same reason she wanted Discord to be reformed... and this is with me NOT liking that episode as I feel Discord should be a viilian that cannot truly be reformed.

---------------

Twilight Sparkles first and most important responsibility will be to keep her friendships strong with the other Element bearers. Why? Because she is now an expression of friendship and it is because of her friends that she is alicorn.

In my eyes if friendship is not found to be magic and Twilight, as an awakened alicorn, lost her friends she would cease to be a princess and alicorn.

As such, no matter her other responsibilities, Twilight will be encouraged if not required to spend some time with her friends.

THANK YOU!  Finally somepony who understands the scene.

For anyone else, check out Digibrony's videos on the episode and Alicorn Princess Twilight Sparkle.  If you keep the same opinion, all the power to you.  I thought the episode was a little rushed too, but for what we got, it could have been a LOT worse.

Yes I suppose it could have been and I am grateful that it wasn't but I still think it was the worst episode of the entire series and a complete and total insult to one of the best characters in this show. I may be neutral now, but that still hasn't completely washed away the bad taste that episode has left in my mouth. I am just waiting for season 4 and hoping the best at this point, even if things work out which I really hope they do I am still not going to be a fan of MMC because frankly the episode made no sense.

Actually I would counter and say that Keep Calm and Flutter On is more of an example of what you just said and I would counter to it being a far worse episode.

I was hoping with the season finale it would but it hasn't, I have long been hopeful and still am that this will work but that finale was just atrocious and if anything has made me even more fearful.

I didn't mind the finale myself. But if I could make it better, maybe it should have been an hour long special instead of a two parter so that way DHX can stick with their episode plan.

Yes, because I love change and Twilight becoming a princess opened up a lot of storytelling opportunites. I completely understand why people don't like the change though.

If she hadn't taken Celestia's assignment she wouldn't have transformed. If her responsibilities don't change there's no reason for her to be an alicorn. If Celestia had some genius rationale about unlikely candidates making the best leaders it would have been wonderful to hear that in the episode. And Dumbledore didn't make Harry a co-headmaster halfway through the series.

It was a poorly conceived idea and the execution was forced. They can make it work in Season 4 but it will take some of the best writing on the show so far.
