I'm wondering what my fellow bronies think are the best rock albums ever made.

Feel free to include Folk Rock; Heavy Metal; Punk Rock and such...

For me, it's defiantly the following:

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band (1967) by The Beatles

The Dark Side of the Moon (1973) by Pink Floyd

Led Zeppelin IV (1971) by Led Zeppelin

Abbey Road (1969) by The Beatles

Wish You Were Here (1975) by Pink Floyd

A Night at the Opera (1975) by Queen

Rumours (1977) by Fleetwood Mac

Led Zeppelin II (1969) by Led Zeppelin

Revolver (1966) by The Beatles

A Hard Day's Night (1964) by The Beatles

Rubber Soul (1965) by The Beatles

Pet Sounds (1966) by The Beach Boys

The Wall (1979) by Pink Floyd

Animals (1977) by Pink Floyd

Meddle (1971) by Pink Floyd

The Piper at the Gates of Dawn (1967) by Pink Floyd

Led Zeppelin (1968) by Led Zeppelin

The Beatles (The White Album) (1968) by The Beatles

All Things Must Pass (1973) by George Harrison

Band on the Run (1973) by Paul McCartney

Who's Next (1971) by The Who

Tommy (1968) by The Who

Quadrophenia (1975) by The Who

and a dozen more...

The most perfect rock album (that has come out in recent years) for me is "Hours" by Falling Up. It was just officially released on Tuesday, but it was technically released over several months via their website. Every song on it is either freakin' epic or freakin' beautiful.

I seriously recommend it for fans of progressive or experimental rock.

It's ironic how I fall just to get back up again...

Since you said "heavy metal", I'll go with any and every album by Death. There's no point in choosing since they're all amazingly super uberly awesome. But I'll list them out for you.

Scream Bloody Gore (1987)

Leprosy (1988)

Spiritual Healing (1990)

Human (1991)

Individual Thought Patterns (1993)

Symbolic (1995)

The Sound of Perseverence (1998)

CKY Infiltrate.Destroy.Rebuild. The first band I got "In to". Blame older brothers and skatebording but this album still gets me pumped to do things of questionable behavior.

You know, the lack of Queen on here upsets me greatly. Unfortunately I wasn't around at the time to see them live but they are still probably one of my all time favourite bands.

I can't really choose an album of theirs which I liked over the rest, so many of them were just brilliant  Instead I shall be choosing their first Greatest Hits album. It's pretty much a perfect album.

Queen and rock is like life and water they go hand and hand but we need to branch out and find the best in all genres to spread the greatness that is ROCK!

Metal is included? Woot :D

I'd say it's  either Into the Electric Castle by Ayreon, or New Mythology Suite by Symphony X.

Yes, I'm biased towards progressive metal concept albums.

Signature now 99% less edgy!

I just think that these albums were influential/groundbreaking on rock and subgenres related to it. Probably not my favorites, but yeah.

  • Faust - Faust
  • Joy Division - Disorder (post-punk yes, but fight me)
  • American Football - American Football
  • Pink Floyd - Ummagumma
  • Talking Heads - Remain In Light
  • Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind

I HAD TO FALL TO LOSE IT ALL BUT IN THE END IT DOESN'T EVEN MATTER /WRISTS
