Animation Errors Discussion

Ever heard the phrase a poor handy man blames his tools? You couldn't possibly say that the blame falls squarely on flash, difficult as it may be to use sometimes, it's still a bang up piece of software. The shows animation is so consistently beautiful and detailed the handful of errors it gets seem a little too... consistent in some ways. Also, i don't know if the characters have set animators that work on each of them or just anyone free at the time gets the job, but these people are working on a near frame to frame basis and can spend quite a while working on a single scene so it would be pretty hard to overlook things so obvious.

Here's a quote from TV Tropes regarding the animation errors"As the show is animated primarily in a fairly old version of Adobe Flash, many Bloopers are as likely (if not more likely) to be the result of software error as they are to be the result of animator error. A scene may look perfectly normal within the program itself, but when exported to video, a layer may fail to render, or else be rendered in front of another layer that it should have been rendered behind."So essentially it is as if they are mailing a package and the postal service damages it. I wouldn't be so quick to blame the animators (Not that they never screw up)Personally I never notice any of the errors, even on rewatches. Maybe I'm just oblivious :)

I don't have much thoughts on animation error. What's to have? They're absolutely inevitable, and like what's been said they can be not only fun to find, but are also usually funny. They've been going on since episode one, with ones as old as the following example.

Rainflank Dash seems slightly less vibrant today than usual. Maybe something is missing.

Inherent easter eggs in episodes, I call them. They'll always be there, so you might as well try to find them and have fun laughing.

I wonder if Applejack is wearing cover-up here, too?   :P

See, this is proof of how dang oblivious I am. I literally had to stare at that picture for a minute and a half before I figured out what was wrong with it

Animation errors will happen no matter what. Even if the show is created in a program like Flash, it will happen, sometimes its just an honest mistake, and nobody ever notices it, somtimes, its that the animator working on that scene doesn't know any better.

If they wanted to be perfect, and have no animation errors whatsoever, episodes would take longer to produce, thus, we'd have to wait longer for new episodes. Its not that big of a deal, and sometimes, they're kind of funny.

Thanks for that. I guess Flash is to blame but i wonder why they'd use an older version rather than the newer ones, maybe it's less process intense.

Certain errors are going to be more common, as well.  Like when Applejack does a certain run, and her freckles disappear.  It's because they're recycling that run, so it's always the same.  A lot of errors, however, you wouldn't catch right away, unless you were looking for them, and you already knew they were there, because they last for half a second.  As many have said, quite a few of these mistakes are because of the program, and not the creators.

Post your finest animation errors from the show on this topic here. Provide pictures if possible. This is one of my favourites:  Notice anything familiar about the two ponies next to Twist?

It's Scootablue and Greenie Bell! My two favorite fillies!

If you want more animation errors, this Youtube series has a ton of episodes full of them.

@@Tall_But_Short_37,

I was going to post one of those videos too. They have pretty much every singly animation error you could imagine. Though after watching them I couldn't help myself.. I noticed the errors every single time I saw the show.

Ironically even though I've watched them all I'm not observant enough to notice the animation errors hardly if ever Xd. I'm so terrible at nitpicking that stuff though :P. I guess I should be happy that i don't really notice it so I don't get annoyed by them I guess Xd.

Also that animation error is so weird Xd. They look so freaky. Hahaha.

I was going to mention that video series for the animation errors aswell, but I see its always been done.

I actually found my own animation error, that wasn't covered by My Little Bloopers.

This is the scene where Spike fetches the Mirror Pond book in Too Many Pinkie Pies. Note the width of the shelf he peers into to retrieve it:

When he's coming out with the book, the shelf has suddenly shrunk.
