My Little Pony gets a manga!

I find it too childish (well, actually it it's meant for children, but all this glitter staff is horrible to see XD ) a part that,it's ok,i like how they have draw them, seems pretty "loyal" to the original ones but more cute, for now i think that we can't say that much,we have to wait for the first issue and see how the story goes and how they have draw the rest, personally i'm waiting to read this, but first i want to read the other comics...the only problem is that i don't find the scans anywhere

I wouldn't necessarily think this is going to be 'too childish' until we see a couple story arcs.  They might throw a few curveballs into the mix.  And if they REALLY decide to go nuts, we could see a spinoff Anime.  They've done this with several Hasbro products in the past (including G.I. Joe and Transformers), so it is not inconceivable that it could happen with this one at some point.

Example, they made an Anime called Onegai My Melody awhile back, and it looked all cute and adorable and like it was going to be for 5-year-olds.  If you watched a small clip of this cartoon (Kuromi is my avatar), you would probably think it was the cutest thing since Pokémon.  But when you see the stuff they go through in that show, yeah...  There's an episode later on where Kuromi uses a magic key to literally pull a demon out from Hell itself to serve her.  And then later on, one of the characters (voiced by Byakuya's Japanese VA no less) turns into a pink rabbit-suited superhero and goes out to fight crime, all the while a pink plushy bunny is fighting enemies such as man-eating plants and guys with the martial arts skills of Kenshiro.

So yeah, this might not stay as 'kiddie' as people think it will.

What's all the fuss about?

It looks just like MLP except it's in comic form and the writing is unbearably bland and soulless.

1/10 I'll pass.

Holy mother of cute! o//A//o

The amount of adorableness in this manga is probably enough to knock "videos of kittens" of my top five most adorable things.

10/10 Would definitely read.

cuz its japanese! >:vvv

Seriously, though, the art style isn't better than the show style, and the dialogue is... like Lewdamoon said.

Don't tell me that people like it just because it has a 'Japanese' label on it.

A Spinoff anime would be awesome but i don't think they are gonna make it,there is already the original  series.                                   I hope they will do some complex stories,or start to tell the background stories of the characters, they can make plenty of chapters only with those, like the story of Zecora,or where are all the mane 6 parents and what they do

I'll address this, because there's probably going to be alot of confusion regarding this.  What you are seeing in those pictures, are known as Prototype or Concept Frames (depending on the company that makes the comics, they could be called either, but they essentially mean the same thing, though Concept Frames usually aren't colored and Prototype Frames are).  With Concept Frames, the idea is to showcase a prototype of the design of the characters that is intended to be used in the comic itself.  Essentially, what you are getting here is the 'general idea' of what things will probably look like.  In all likelihood, these designs will go through a few more revisions before the final version is released to market.  Either way, the text in those bubbles is meaningless, as it is likely the storyline has either only just started to be written (like maybe first issue/chapter), or hasn't been written at all. It's probably nothing more than filler.

In other words, what you see here will likely be different than what you see in the final version.  So it will be impossible to give any kind of accurate 'review' until chapters start being released.

Transformers already had a series when they made an Anime of it.  Same thing with G.I. Joe.

I hope we get at least full fan translations of it.

I'm still hoping a full-on anime spin-off gets done and dubbed into english(maybe something with a more adventure orientated tone)

omglob I didn't realized someone posted it already!

From what I heard, the manga will be serialized in Shogakukan (known for publishing famous works such as Detective Conan, Utena, and the Pokemon comics). So this could be interesting!

My opinion: MLP doesn't fit with manga. (Don't kill me pls)

But the drawings looks cool.

Pretty cool stuff. The ponies look like they have slightly smaller eyes in the manga preview, oddly enough (you know, cause Japan is known for it's giant eye style).

Yeah it's cute but looks like it's meant for little kids.

Well so is MLP FIM, technically. Doesn't mean it won't appeal to adults.

FIM was made to appeal to kids and adults.

That first story it's basically "Party of One" with Twilight substituted for Pinkie and a much simpler plot and without much humor.

But anyway I haven't thought about this pony manga in a year and I'll probably buy it if I can, if only for the art. I'd also probably buy it in Japanese because the language will be simple and I'll probably be able to understand a lot of it.

Where is this manga is it translated yet? It's so kawaii I must read it!.

From what I could find, no confirmation of it heading to the west(or translation) has not been made yet. But I'd certainly like to read this for myself too! Himekawa sure does know how to write cute all over!

edit: My apologies if you are not aware who Akira Himekawa is. Himekawa is a duo two female manga artists. You'd probably recognize their work if you are familiar with "The Legend of Zelda" comics  series they've worked on.

Omg Twily and Pinkie are adorkable!

I find this interesting, how Lauren Faust design still holds. About 99.5% of it is just the original design. The rest are added sparkles :bea:
