Fluttershy the Thief?

So, today I was watching Bird in The Hoof for the first time and I noticed something weird..... Why does Fluttershy have Twilight and Pinkie's dress in her house?! Any speculation? Mine is that Fluttershy is a doormat and offered her house to store their extra crap.

We must first ask ourselves, were the dresses ever, truly, in Rarity's boutique to begin with? And perhaps we should even humor the possibility that it was not Rarity who crafted theses dress, but Fluttershy.

Perhaps........perhaps, Rarity is not even real, perhaps she is a merely an alter ego of Fluttershy. Perhaps Fluttershy suffers from a severe split personality disorder, causing her to think she's a Ponyville resident with a fake Canterlot accent half the time.

Or.......perhaps.....perhaps even......Rarity has been dead this whole time, from some illness or freak accident, and Fluttershy was so devasted by her death that she began masquerading as her as a coping mechanism.

Or perhaps......no......no......yes, perhaps it was not an illness or accident that resulted in poor Rarity's untimely demise. Perhaps........it was MURDER. Perhaps Fluttershy had feelings for dear Rarity at some point, but she rejected her love, and in a fit of rage, killed and skinned Rarity, using her skin as a costume, to disguise herself as her so as to not draw any suspicions as to poor Rarity's disappearance.

Perhaps Fluttershy's friends are merely figments of her imagination, and she is actually a human mental patient in an asylum, (the cottage being her cell-room), her family never even coming by to visit or calling her, leaving her all alone in her dark, cold, lonely cell. She crafted the dresses herself, for these fictional friends of hers. While she sits in her cold, dark cell-room,, she imagines going on adventures with her friends, and in these fantasies she and her friends are all ponies. It's the only way she can cope with the loneliness all day, all night, every day, every night, for the rest of her life.

And that, my friends, may also explain the dresses in Fluttershy's cottage. MLP:FIM is not a heartwarming tale about 6 pony friends learning life lessons and progressing their friendship in a magical world, the reality is that it is a sad, dark tale of an insane human girl abandoned in a mental asylum who must imagine herself as a talking pony in a world of talking ponies with talking pony friends in order to cope with her extreme loneliness.

One thing I like about this forum is how the most unassuming thread can take on a life of its own. 

 

I must've been daydreaming when I watched Bird in Hoof because I didn't notice the dresses.  But considering Fluttershy is very adept at sewing and dressmaking in her own right, her place would be the logical place to store those dresses if Rarity couldn't keep them in her shop for whatever reason. 

 

But I still like the humorous thinking here...she took Philomena without asking, so she probably swiped the clothes too.
