Well, there seemed to be a few requirements that were at odds.

• Random threads are too random.
• This thread is the one that everyone (greatly) wants to not be random.
• The general chat thread has a legacy that attracts randomness.

Given these constraints, I formulated the following solution:

In all honesty, I think that it's possible to go too far in the nonrandom direction as well. Perhaps, rather than locking down this thread with Gestapo tactics, a new thread could be created where a slightly more serious level of discussion could occur?

 

This was what I was thinking last night. The people here are becoming to strict as to what's spam and what's not. I mean, the ONCE General Chat Thread was for discussion, but randomness could be served in small doses. Now, some people are too scared that another GIFfy Wars will happen so they try to eradicate as much random from this thread as possible -_-.
