How is that them having their stuff stolen, though? The devs give credit where credit is due. And like I said, they want you to donate to the people who make the mods in the pack. That's giving credit if I've ever seen it before.

 

And the reason Forestry isn't in the pack anymore is because the guy who codes it was being overly protective of his work. Same with BTW. They got all uppity and didn't want their mods to be compatible with other ones they didn't like, so they complained to the Tekkit devs until they took them out the pack.

It's the mod developer's right to refuse distribution privileges to anyone, and if Sengir didn't wanna have his stuff in Tekkit, he'd simply stop developing it and keep it to himself, even more secretively than BTW. That's not overprotection, it's his right.

 

Sengir was never asked to have Forestry be in Tekkit, and he had to use force.

 

Technic is really hard to customise and update, and my initial experience with it was not that great. I was stuck with an outdated version, and when I tried to update, it crashed.

 

Yes, I prefer to go through the trouble of manually downloading everything. At least I know it'll work then. I prefer to go directly to the source, because anything else is not guaranteed to work.

 

Yes, I come from a different modding community and all of this talk about torrenting the NAM or CAM? Of course it won't work. Things get updated, and the torrented versions don't keep up.

 

On my end, it's discouraged to torrent the NAM because of how things get updated. With the CAM, it's discouraged because of the same reason, but on top of that, you'd need to ask thousands of people for authorisation. It's happened before, and it didn't go well for all parties involved.

 

Modpacks go best when you have authorisation with the mod authors, and that's what I'm going for. If it never had authorisation in the first place or if I had a hard time using it, do you think I'd continue to use something like Technic? Absolutely not.

 

Besides, the FTB Modpack is a collaboration between many tech-type mod authors and the beta testers. It's straight from the source; I prefer not to use third-party sources.

Technic and Tekkit have worked perfectly fine for me, and for plenty of other people. I personally would have a lot more trouble manually installing mods, so the launcher helps me out. I'm sure it's the same with others.

 

The launcher is just an easy way to keep everything organized, and it sure as shit makes it more easy for me and other people like me (not as computer savvy) to fiddle with things.

Don't you think all of the other modders that have their work in the pack would have retaliated as well? Technic wouldn't exist if the modders had that much of a problem with it. I haven't seen much complaining being done about the mod pack from the modders themselves, other than from Flowerchild and Sengir.

I wasn't taking it targetive, since you don't seem to have a target anyway. I could have probably rephrased that, and yes, you're right. However, if you ask me if you spammed...

You ARE spamming. Only a different kind. Rarely have you done nothing but put down innocent actions and or discussions in bluntness, which, in the eyes of some members, can actually be seeing as bothering, repetitive and annoying. So in that regard, YOU'RE the spammer, and we're the ones actually doing the variations of thread topics, considering this is meant to be a more light-hearted chat for the most part, and not necessarily something more serious, which you mostly try to do.

 

But then again, this is me trying to overstep the boundaries of the word spam. We can actually look at this however the hell we want.
