We R&B now.

So you didn't look it up when I told you to last night? For shame.

It comes in handy, yes. Pretty much all EDM has sidechaining somewhere in it.

Best song ever.

lolno.

I'm lazy and I was too into Doom at the moment to go into FL for a few.

But I just did as I posted that. So now I know how. I just gotta remember it forever.

I was surprised they took it in that direction, but it turned out rather beautiful. Albeit slightly sad, however. Still watching though.

I've been rather lazy when it comes to FL myself. I need to get back into it...

Well played, Viscra.

Well played.

What's normal length?

The longest I've gotten is only close to six minutes.

And I don't plan on ever making anything near that length unless I just go insane and attempt some kind of progessive house.

what do you think of the song, anyway? it's the first, and only, song i've produced using Reason with presets and shit. i think i did a good job on it, but it sounds pretty basic and stuff, i must admit.

typically, standard song format like rock or pop music has intro verse chorus verse 2 chorus breakdown chorus (x2) outro. this usually is performed under standard time format, i.e four-to-the-floor music aka 4/4 beats. this is usually not derivatived from in pop rock music and usually results in a song that's usually 3 minutes long or so.

of course, this is just a generic assumption, but most radio edits of club songs are cut to that timeframe, club edits usually being 5-6 minutes long, or much longer. anything else is usually not popularized in music, at least not widespreadly so.

and also yes, i will never be able to make progressive house because i'm just going to go FUCK THIS SHIT and gonna wank out dumb drum rhythms and make super big beat fucktard wank instead.

Thats freaking young teen cute. How does that get a creepy?

She's not even doing anything creepy in it. She's just being cute and happy while smiling.

it was creepy to me though, I dunno, I guess I was just a litttle cranky this morning

Anyhoo, just got done having a little nap, how is everyone else doing :)

You guys talk about music with all this terminology. I just call things "this" and "that."

genres is elitist shit alright, but having some kind of general "hum" over how music works can be beneficial if you're getting into that kind of thing, if only to make insane post-hardcore trash with political messages and label it "full communist trancecore".

It being progressive and taking long to actually get into is killing me. But that's cause I have problems finishing songs when I have the power to change them. You should see how I switch songs on my ipod when I realize I wanna hear something specific while something else is playing. And these are the normal 3 minute long songs.

But it doesn't sound bad. It slowly progesses in like it should and I can see the "story telling" effect you were going for, though, since Ive not played that mod (yet) Ive no idea of what that story its supposed to be. I do like once it fully gets into it and adds the drums to it though.

Huh. Then that means that I always aim for normal length as I always try and hit at least 3 minutes.

I actually just put out my first shorter one being 1:58 and it feels sooo odd listening to. I'm seriously fighting myself to not go add something else just for the sake of time.

Pretty much that for me. I'd do something stupid to it once I got bored as I seem to do with most things once I get bored.

Unless I can just get such a good idea for one, its not happening.

Sperlerz. Kinda.

While I think the finale would have worked better on a whole as a two-parter, I will admit that Celestia's song and the whole bit surrounding it gave me major goosebumps.

Also, dat background music.

I actually really liked it. Kinda excited for s4 now.

oh yes, i recall, wasn't the music for the S3 finale somewhat seriously upbeat? the most upbeat i've heard since that song is the Love is in Bloom one, and that one's just standard pop material. this is like, fuck, grooves and such!

you can download the mod The Talosian Incident if you want to check it out. beware, though, it's a very old mod, and not for everyone. it takes some time to get into. but the music, oh god the music, is goddamn genius in a series of MIDI tracks. not to mention that, in conjunction to the music, the whole mapset actually FEELS like you're being deserted on an unknown, alien planet.

if TTI is too boring for you, though, go check out Equinox. it's THE best example of how a game can tell a story without a single fucking line of dialogue, just let the maps, the music, the whole, genuine atmosphere speak to itself.

i wish i could work on the song at home, though. Reason 6 is impossible to crack, alas, so i can't open the project file...

3 minutes is a good point to shoot after, i suppose. i'm too bored to try and make a standard format song, though. i should practice that, though, it could be beneficial for me.

i actually do have a good idea for a progressive house track, but i lack dem experiences to actually make it yet though.

Fun fact: Its rumored to actually be a 3 parter.

and yes, that part was legit.
