How old are Shining Armor and Princess Cadance compared to the Mane 6?

   How old do you believe the two are compared to the six main characters of the show? Personally, I believe they're about five years older, at least around that area. Mainly because I see Twilight as a 20-year-old now, and an 8-year-old in her flashbacks, and I can imagine a teenage (13/14-year-old) Cadance babysitting her.

Personally Id think that Cadence would be around 16 in Twilights flashbacks. She appears to be fairly mature and all, not to mention Twilights big brother Shining would have to be a fair few years older then her...being the Captain of the guard and all

I always saw Cadence at around 25 and Shining Armor, say, 26 or 27 years old.  I have no idea, it just seems right for me, and I'm sure Celestia wouldn't let anyone too young be captain of the Royal Guard.

I agree that SA and Cadence are in there mid to late 20s where Twilight and the others are 19/ early 20's

 

I can't really see them any younger then that because of the things have or do.

I think Twilight is somewhere around like 19, and Cadence and Shining Armor are about like 25.

Not necessarily, Twilight was fairly young back then and I think it is safe to say that she is a adult now, a young adult granted but still an adult. And is unlikely that Shining Armor was actually captain of the guard back then, he could have just started basic training for all we know, so quite a decent chunk of time has passed since the events of that flashback I would say at least 10 or maybe even 15 years.

If we're gonna go by human years, then I would assume that Shining and Cadence are at least 6-8 years older than Twilight. I like to think that Shining is older than Cadence by maybe a year or 2 since he's Captain of the Royal Guard. 

 

If we're talking about the present day, I think Twilight would be around 18 years old. This would put Shining at 26 and Cadence at around 24-25. But in the end, their age doesn't really matter. All we need to know is that Shining and Cadence are definitely older than Twilight and the rest of the mane 6.

Anywhere from six to eight years older than the mane six sounds about right to me. I guess Chuckles has a point when he says it really doesn't matter how much older they are, but I think it's an interesting thing to think about.

 

I bet all those Royal Guard guys who had been working for years were pretty ticked when a much younger Shining Armor jumped to the top of the ranks and was in charge of all them.

I could definitely suspect that Shining Armor and Cadence are now in their early 20s. Since, Celestia wouldn't let any young colt be the Captain of The Royal Guard. And, Cadence is basically a young adult and more mature then when she was  foal sitting Twilight.

they do, a horse can live as long as a human, so there is a comparison there, hope it helps

I'd say they are probably 4 or 5 years older than the mane 6.  They are very mature, and Cadence was old enough to sit for Twilight.  Though I still don't get why she had to be a foalsitter.

There is very little information regarding the relative ages of the characters, but I'd say that Shining Armor and Cadance are at between three to six years older than the Mane 6. Twilight's flashback in "A Canterlot Wedding--Part 1" reveals that Shining Armor did not yet possess a fully-developed body when Twilight was around the CMC's age (which, from demonstrated behavior, can be inferred to be around ten). This likely puts him at sixteen or below in the flashback, and his sister at ten.

 

Cadance, in the same episode, appears younger than Shining Armor around the same time period (given similar adult sizes and assuming that females develop at a younger age than males do), but is clearly older than Twilight. She is likely around thirteen or fourteen at this point--a common age to begin babysitting.

No, they don't. On average, horses live for approximately thirty years. It appears, however, that Equestrian ponies do age differently from their real life counterparts, so that's a moot point.

Do we know this for certain, or do we only know her age relative to that of Pinkie Pie? I wouldn't be surprised, though, as Fluttershy appeared more developed than the rest of the Mane 6 when they gained their cutie marks.

Hmm... I recently watched a video done by DigibronyMLP where he analyzed Cutie Mark Chronicles and speculated the Mane 6 ages.

 

Watch it, if you haven't already.

 

 

Now if we'd go by this and say the Mane 6 are 15 years old, then Shining Armor must about 20 years old and Cadence... 21-22 years old.

 

But we've seen some scenes that counter this like Fluttershy saying she's a year older than Pinkie Pie. The video discards that in a way even though it points it out.

 

So I'm gonna say that the Mane 6 are 14-16 years old, Twilight being 16 years old, which makes Shining Armor 21 years old and Cadence 23 years old (give or take 1-2 years).

I agree with those that put them both in their mid to late 20s with Shining Armor being a year or two older than Cadence. If I remember correct the song BBBF has Shining Armor joining the Royal Guards, so he'd have to be at least 18 if we hold to human age conventions. I see Cadence being from 14-16 in the scenes with filly Twilight.

Well, judging that the mane 6 are around 20 yrs old, which I gather that from their VA's and the fact they live on their own, hold jobs and whatnot. Probably about 20, and since cadence and shining armor are larger, they are either mid twenties, or not "ponies" they may be horses ya know, kinda like there are different types in the show judging by big mac and stuff like that.

When the show initially started I saw the ponies as being around 19-21.  This is almost three years later making them 22-24.  Assuming Cadance is following a normal maturing track for ponies as opposed to a slower one for alicorns, I would say they are about 5 years older than Twi.  Make it 28ish.  Note that it was at the end of the second season when Shining Armor was captain of the guard.  He could have been relatively new to the position.

The Mane Six have all moved away from home and have jobs(or all in college in Twilight's case) so I would say they're all 18+(You argue that maybe Twilight could be younger, like 17).

Based on the flashbacks in A Canterlot Wedding, I'd say Twilight is 8 and both Cadance and Shining Armor are 15, so around 7 years older than Twilight.

 

In present day, I'd say Twilight is 19, making Cadance and Shining Armor 26.
