Lyra Cosplay Help

My school is having a unicorn-themed prom next month, and I decided to go to it dressed as Lyra. I picked out a wig, ears, and a horn, but I'm not sure what kind of clothes I should wear. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks! ^_^

In my opinion it would be best to wear the same teal, green, idk color Lyra is. But that's just me, I remember I saw a few MLP cosplayers all the way in January but I forgot how they did it(I'll try to look for the Rarity one just because she's a unicorn and The only unicorn I've seen cosplayed)

Well, Lyra would fangasm over you if you wore pants, but I think a white skirt would work the best for her. And possibly a teal jean-jacket over your shirt. I think it would suit Lyra.

Most likey you're a girl(unless you're a dude who loves skirts, don't worry I don't judge). The cosplayers I usually see wear shorts or skirts. I mean you can get pants and put Lyra's cutie mark on it. I've also never seen someone who cosplayed with a cutie mark so if you decide to follow my idea I'd love to see how it turned out

Oh, yeah, I really like that idea! Cutie mark pants would be awesome. And yes, I am a girl.

Oh, and I might use the jean-jacket too, that sounds cute.

Thank you!

How "lyra-like" are you going to be? Are you using body paints and contacts or just ears, horn etc? It would help for ideas to know what "style" you are going for.

I'm just going with ears and a horn and stuff like that, nothing too extreme, but I want to look as Lyra-ish as possible considering that. I'm probably going for a bit more of a human-Lyra look.

There's quite a few ways to go about this, I guess it just depends on the style you want.

I think a scarf with the cutie mark embroidered on it would look nice. Some teal leggings and white shoes should complement it nice, with possibly a sweater for the top and a skirt for the bottom.

The jean jacket would work, if you want to go in that direction too. There's also the classic Lyra hooded sweatshirt route to go too.

Hrmmm. In my mental image, humanized Lyra would wear capri pants or something similar, with black slip-on shoes. White short-sleeved blouse with a light, breezy style jacket in the same colour as the pants. Of course, cutie-mark on the back pocket of the pants.

The hard part is getting the pants and jacket stuff in that particular shade of green, unless you're willing to buy the fabric and make your own dress/pants?

However, this is a prom. That changes stuff up a bit from a standard cosplay. Are we talking Rarity-level fancy dress type thing here?

Oh, I can definitely see that! I don't think I'm good enough at sewing just yet to make my own clothes in time. Of course, I can add details.

I go to a non-traditional school, and I don't necessarily have to dress up for this. I want something I can dance in, though.

Hopefully those links work. img-1379355-5-xtWXQl1.png I can't guarantee quality of the stuff though, I just have a knack for finding stuff for costuming purposes. Both come in mint green, and while the jacket isn't *quite* what I had in mind, but it's the closest I could find quickly.

The blouse should be easy enough, but shoes are the hardest part of any costume to do so I'd hop out and start looking now. Never buy shoes online, because you should always try on shoes before buying.

Oh, and for the cutie-mark; go to the fabric store and pick up a piece of fabric and fabric paints to make a cutie mark 'patch'. If you have access to an embroidery machine, you can make the patch that way too. That way you can hand-stitch the patch onto the pocket of the pants. If you try to use the embroidery machine or sewing machine directly onto the pants, you'll lose the use of the pocket... wink.png and by making it a patch it means you can make mistakes and you haven't wasted an entire pair of pants.

Nice! Thanks so much, everyone, you're being really helpful. I've now got a couple possible choices for most of the clothes, and my mom and I are going to scour Goodwill this Friday in case anything perfect is there.
