mega thread Unpopular Music Related Opinions

Plastician is not a good Dubstep producer. His early stuff is fine, but I hated Beg to Differ. There was like 1 good song on that LP and it's considered to be one of the best Dubstep albums ever? Wut?

Yellow is a boring song, I'm not sure what album that's from. But so was that one Viva La Vida song, I think everyone in that band should be sent to the guillotine, ha see what I did there.?

Oh right, I'm talking with a Death Metal fan, how silly of me

Anyways, Viva la Vida comes from "Viva la Vida or Death and all his friends"

Okay then, from the posts above me I'll let have another unpopular opinion.

I fuckin' love Coldplay, man. Especially Charlie Brown, which is from the album nobody seems to like (Mylo Xyloto).

The Scientist, UFO, In My Place, Don't Panic, Green Eyes, Parachutes, Clocks, Fix You... even Paradise. I think they're wonderful. Chris Martin's voice is distinctive and completely matches their style of music. Just like Daft Punk moved to new ideas with their new album, and Foos deviated with ESP&G, Coldplay and Mylo Xyloto went more electronic, and I just so happened to love it.

Sorry about that. I meant to say that I LIKE classical music. No not just the popular "Clair de Lune" that was played in Twilight or Pachelbel's Canon. Although they're both beautiful pieces, not a lot of people are very willing to dig very deep into it. People would probably not get used to listening to some of Rachmaninoff's and, and especially not Tchaikovsky's more harsh and abstract works (the Symphonies).

Oh well, that's more unpopular as in "not many people like it" instead of a "this is my opinion, many will disagree with me".

Oh right, I'm talking with a Death Metal fan, how silly of me

I was refering to how they used the French Revolution on one of their album covers.

Coldplay is a bootleg version of Radiohead, the same way Creed is a bootled version of Pearl Jam.

I'm not a Death Metal fan, but I don't like most of Coldplay's songs, they have some decent ones most mainly Violet Hill.

Bro, Coldplay and Radiohead are 100% different than each other. Radiohead are more electronic and hard rock influenced while Coldplay are soft rock with some soundtrack-type music influences.

UKF Dubstep is a freaking joke. I liked some of the stuff the promoted back in 2009, but they should just rename themselves to UKF Brostep today.

I know, the whole I'm talking to a Death Metal fan was because you called Yellow boring. Not a very hyper song, but only a true metalhead would see it from that perspective

Have I posted here yet?

To echo some previously mentioned opinions:

  • The Beatles are too glorified. They were influential, but that's much different than being the greatest band of all time.
  • Speaking of over-glorification, Mitch Lucker was not the greatest vocalist of all time, nor was Jeff Hanneman the best guitarist, or Cliff Burton the best bassist. If they were still alive, I guarantee you most likely wouldn't have those opinions (Cliff is barely audible a lot of the time so what the hell). If I may reference
"A moment of silence, but not one moment more. The dead are to be forgotten, we are here to be adored."

Some opinions of my own.

  • If you say your favorite Led Zeppelin song is "Stairway to Heaven" (unless you've actually heard a good majority of their discography), your opinion of them has no merit. There are exceptions, of course; my favorite Coldplay song is still "Yellow" (though I don't think it's especially good anyway).
  • My favorite classical music comes out of the 1960s through the 80s; Steve Reich and
    are the names for me.
  • People that dismiss hip hop (or any other entire genre) as a whole should just keep searching beyond what they hear on the radio.
    was my entry point.
  • I prefer more avant-garde jazz over the traditional bop stuff, with my favorites being
    Pharoah Sanders,
    and
  • "God Hates Us All" is my favorite Slayer album.
  • I've come so close to liking Dream Theater, but I keep falling back on Cynic and other prog metal bands that I feel introduce fresher concepts into their music.

That's all I got, but I'll certainly be back when I think of others.

Oh, the old Coldplay-Radiohead stuff. Coldplay is vastly different from Radiohead. Coldplay is more formulaic and do soft rock; Radiohead is more electronic. I recall them stating at one point that they were influenced by Radiohead, but that's hardly a bad thing.

Distance is not as influencal as people make him out to be. Sure, he created a label. So what? He's a great Dubstep artist and is one of the best in my opinion, but going as far as saying that he is one of the most important artists in Dubstep is just crap.

Well, I meant metalfans in general, but it was appropriate to use that term since, suprise! Dawn likes Death Metal!

I'd much rather listen to The Smiths.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YgrN5b2OgM

I listen to other stuff besides metal, I just don't like Coldplay. They're just too soft for me.

Jeff Hanneman the best guitarist

Even before he died, I liked him more than Kerry.

I've come so close to liking Dream Theater, but I keep falling back on Cynic and other prog metal bands that I feel introduce fresher concepts into their music.

Welcome to my world, the only DT album I like Images and Words, and I don't even like it that much.

Regardless of however you think of him, David Howell Evans aka The Edge, the guitarist of U2, is one of the greatest guitarists of his generation. He's been able to change how one uses a guitar, instead using the instrument to create masterful sonic landscapes.

The only thing that might be worse than Nickleback is Post-Clayman In Flames Coldplay, Coldplay is fucking awful.

You're completely retarded if you think Coldplay is worse than Nickelback (I don't really like Coldplay though btw)

Listen to the song "Rockstar" by Nickelback and tell me that isn't the shittiest piece of shit you have ever heard.

No, mwuhahahaahaha. I'll admit though he is good, just not the greatest.

I think Creed may be about as bad as Nickelback. Well at least they're not as bad as Limp Bizkit.

Nickelback had way worse songs than that one, try listening to Never Gonna Be Alone, This Afternoon, and Hero all together. Though still some of Nickelback's older stuff was half-decent, not great, though not as terrible as their newer stuff.

I think the only Nickelback song I've heard that doesn't make me wanna shoot myself is "Never Again".

Although some of their really really old stuff seems slightly decent, but it sounds like a Nirvana ripoff or something.

Uno is a pretty terrible J-Core artist. チルノのパーフェクトドラムンベース is a good song, but everything else is pretty much terrible

But it sounds like a Nirvana ripoff or something.

What's up with the false Nirvana comparisons today?

I specifically remember hearing some old Nickelback song that sounded like a really bad ripoff of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana.

Coldplay doesn't suck, they're good, you guys are just biased, I feel like this is unpopular.

Nickelback sucking is a popular opinion that I agree with.

Creed isn't that great but at least they're partially better than Nickelback

PINK FLOYD IS STILL THE GREATEST ROCK BAND EVER.img-1526565-1-yay.png

Go on, provide a band that is better (quantity and quality of music), prove me wrong. I dare ya.

Well that's an impossible task to do, everybody have their personal preferences and they're difficult to affect, especially since you like stuff like Pink Floyd, thus making it impossible for me to convince you that bands like Converge are better (even though they play two completely different genres)

Opeth, nuff said.

Speaking of Opeth, they're probably the greatest band of this generation.

For me, it is Animals. Lyrically perfect, and musically absolutely amazing.

Bro, I love Opeth and all...but that's a bit of a stretch don't you think?

Well since Soundgarden mentioned them, I think that I'll see if Converge can work somewhat.

Jane Doe is the fourth album by American hardcore band Converge. It was released September 4, 2001 through Equal Vision Records. The album was received with immediate critical acclaim, critics praising its poetic lyrics, incredibly fast and well made dynamics, and crushing style and production. The album was also a commercial success in comparison to Converge's previous outings, and both the band and the album have developed a cult following ever since, with the cover art acting as a somewhat of an icon to both Converge and a strong part of the underground Hardcore Punk scene.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In early July, Converge's official website announced the title of the album, as well as the meaning behind it:
These days, cowards outnumber the heroes, and the begging souls outweigh the calloused hands of the hardest of workers. Both in life and in art, the lack of passion is sickening, and the lust for complacency is poisonous. This album is the artistic antithesis of that sinking world; a thorn in the side of their beast. It's for those who move mountains one day at a time. It's for those who truly understand sacrifice. In our world of enemies, we will walk alone...

(Just to let you know, the album that they're talking about is No Heroes)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All We Love We Leave Behind was recorded and mixed at Kurt Ballou's Godcity Studios in Salem, Massachusetts. Unlike the band's last few albums, All We Love We Leave Behind did not feature collaborators. The album's sound has been described as "raw" and "live-sounding," with Ballou saying: "There's no artificial distortion, triggers, or Auto-Tune on this album. It's all organic, it's real sounds that capture the way the band performs live.

Maybe you're right, but can you think of another band of our time who's worthy of such title? Maybe I should rephrase that to "Opeth is my favorite modern band".

I still think that's a bit of a stretch for me to call Opeth my favorite modern band, as for what band's worthy of that title, I'm not really focused on that at all.

I find it hard to decide on favorites, I like Opeth a lot but... Yea it's hard to chose favorites. As for the "Greatest band of our time" thing, I can't decide on that either.

Speaking of Pink Floyd, what do you think their best album is?

The Wall would be my favorite album. Dark Side and Animals are in 2nd/3rd place and Wish You Were Here is firmly in 4th.

Animals is amazing, should have gotten more attention than it did.

The Edge is pretty awesome, so is David  Gilmour.

Opeth, nuff said.

Nope not even close, Opeth was closer than Converge. It was worth a shot though.

Okay to play play fair, Pink Floyd is the best rock band of their era. (Still think they trump everything)

Okay to compare the 90's with the 90's I'm going to say that Pearl Jam was the best rock band of the 90's.
