I prefer Doolittle over Surfer Rosa, deal with it.

The Smiths are better that The Cure. (inb4 Moog)

It's funny how Dawn doesn't understand what albums and bands are the superior ones, regardless of whether he's joking or not, it will always crack me up.

Ah, real Dubstep. That stuff is actually one of my favorite genres (my member title hints that), so I totally understand what you mean :3

Closer>Unknown Pleasures

Eeyup, I said it. Wathca gonna do about it? But like Closer is just a better album IMO.

Oh and Trout Mask Replica is the second greatest album of the 1960's.

Nirvana is overrated.

mfw i see someone call Nirvana overated (stupid pic doesn't work #fail)

Alice in Chains gave a lot more to grunge, than Cobain did.

Alice in Chains started off as hair band. Plus Bleach is heavier than anything AiC released.

Most people who say that they're huge Nirvana fans, only know Smells Like Teen Spirit and Come as You Are.

That I'll agree with.

This is a bit of a recent revelation but Evanescence is a pretty average band overall and the only real reason to listen to them is their vocalist.

But I've also not heard more than about 1.5 albums and haven't heard ANY of their stuff past The Open Door so who knows?

Still never gonna understand the hate on Nickelback though.

I'm not sure if it totally counts as a music opinion, but personally, I think a person should listen to at least 3-10 songs of a band or singer before they can judge them. Unless the music is cringe-worthy...then you have an excuse.

Oh, and here we go:

  • I haven't listened to much of Nirvana, and I have no idea where to begin with that band, but I still have no real opinion on that band.
  • Saying you hate a whole genre isn't a great idea, it might be possible for you to find a song you like in a genre you're not a giant fan of.
  • I don't hate any band or singer...there are some I'm not fans of, but I don't hate their music, usually. They have to be downright awful for me to hate them.

I don't know...random opinions and shit, I doubt they're unpopular but meh.

Oh I've got a doozy for you:

Nobuo Uematsu. People praise him for his work on Final Fantasy and Lost Odyssey (among other things) and when favorite composer lists pop up he's always at the top.

....I never have been and likely never will be a fan of Uematsu's work. He's extremely boring, his music RARELY fits the situation and in the case of Lost Odyssey he uses music that really doesn't fit the style of the game in any way, shape or form. The only thing he's ever composed that I've actually really liked was Final Fantasy IX and even he has admitted that it was his favorite composition so we're on a bit of the same wavelength there.

Michiko Naruke, Motoi Sakuraba and Yoko Shimamura are all much better composers. Sakuraba is my absolute favorite composer of all time and has done so many game series' I love.

I wish that, when it comes to music, we could talk about it as it is and not let the popularity of a certain song, album, band or genre influence our opinion. With regards to stuff that plays on Capital FM for instance (this is a London-based station that plays Urban, Hip-Hop and Pop), sure it may not be to alot of people's tastes, but at least they have some production value in terms of sound design. As background music say, for the kitchen, its absolutely fine, but its not something you'd want to enjoy on its own.

Brace yourself......

Bob Dylan is a jerk, an extremely unlikable jackass, and sorta hates a large portion of his fans.

Clapton is a dirty racist.

Jerry Garcia is a better guitar player than Jimi Hendrix.

Kanye is a douche, and also a gay fish.

Ok... That is all.

Please don't lynch me.

I love you. :D

(Edit: I should probably note that non of these comments are a knock on anyone mentioned's musical talents)

I really hate it when people complain about a certain song (usually something by Queen or AC/DC) not being as popular as Justin Bieber. As if AC/DC wasn't popular enough.

Speaking of AC/DC, their songs all sound the same and I find them boring.

Their album Nevermind is the best place to start by far. Very straightforward and catchy, while managing to maintain that "edge" you'd normally find in Rock music. Bleach and In Utero are a bit more heavy and noisy

I believe that a person has to hear what the said artist has to offer before judging. Most artists actually develop and change their sound, so while you may not like their earlier releases, the later ones may catch your interest, or vice versa

OT: Invaders Must Die seems to get a lot of hate, but I like it a lot. Sure, it's heavier, but it's The Prodigy being more energetic than ever. If people liked tracks such as Smack My Bitch Up, they should have no problem getting into this album

Fine, I will. You're the big Nirvana fan here...what's the best and worst album/songs by them? All opinions and not facts, of course.

OT:  And...let's see here....I don't listen to much of the Beatles. I actually used to hate them, but my friend recently became obsessed with them, so I gave them a second chance and I think they're alright. Not really amazing to me, but still good.

All their stuff is good, including their demos and rehearsals. Their best album would probably have to be I guess all of them. If you're trying to get into them, I 'd suggest Nevermind.

I strongly disagree with you for the most part, but I do think there a plenty of composers who do many things better than him. But I honestly think Uematsu and Kondo are two of the best melody writers in the business, right next to John Williams in my book.

Even though I'm a huge fan of Koji Kondo's work, I still think he could do better in the orchestration department (that is assigning instruments music). Sadly there are a few of composers who are great at orchestrating but terrible at the actual composing. They don't tend to be in big budget movies that often thankfully, games not so lucky. I can't remember a single cue from Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and 3 with the exception of the MW2 theme written by Hans Zimmer.

Invaders Must Die has gotten loads of hate? I thought that it was a great album.

And also while we're discussing Nirvana I'll say that they're one of my least favorite grunge bands, don't get me wrong, they're a great band and all, but there are a lot of other Grunge bands that I prefer.

Mixed response may be a better word for it. But you know how it goes, if a really popular music act makes something that receives mixed response, the negative responses will always be exaggerated

Pearl Jam is my least favorite for sure. I love Ten, but that's pretty much the only good album they've ever made. They mostly just got a few good songs on some random albums here and there

I agree, Ten is great but Pearl Jam is my least favorite grunge band. Oh, and Temple of the Dog is better. I still think Vs. and Vitalogy are good albums though.

Another unpopular opinion: I think Vs. is ridiculously overrated. The opener is amazing, but the rest is really boring. It's like Pearl Jam just went with the same, vague formula over and over again

Pearl Jam definitely hit it good with Ten, but the rest of their stuff kind of falls behind that one by a whole lot.

I still have yet to listen to Vs.

I said it a little earlier but I didn't go into full detail. IMO, Closer is Joy Division's best album. It's much better than Unknown Pleasures, I love UP but Closer is by far the superior album. The opener is amazing, the rest of the album is flawless. Everything Unknown Pleasures does well Closer does it better.

I'm just gonna pretend that Dawn didn't say anything about Joy Division in this thread, and say my unpopular opinon.

This always was and always will be M83's best album, no questioning on it. Unrecorded was the song that introduced me to M83 and I still think that it is an amazing song, and the rest of this album is amazing. Before The Dawn Heals Us would be my second favorite M83 album.

I really can't understand why people give Pablo Honey so much flak. Sure it's not their best album, but You is one of Radiohead's best songs ever.

I'm going to bump this thread back up.

So anyways, hating dubstep is NOT unpopular. And saying that you do is kinda annoying.

As Soundgarden has a billion times already, Skrillex is NOT dubstep.

omgz i h8 teh dubstep its liek so stoopid and noisy liek u all shuld listn 2 sum gewd muzik liek metallica and megadeth also all other techno iz garbage i liek h8 all of it

And for my unpopular opinions:

Sub-bass is best bass

Hardcore > Metal, by a long shot

The growl bass style is simply the worst style of bass in existence

And I think that's all I've got left
