Only the more prominent brostep craze. There's a lot of great stuff in the genre.

Simply the two greatest albums that have ever been mentioned/posted in this thread, you win this thread Tree

And by emo, I mean stuff like Mayday Parade. (>.<) That and I don't really like the singing style very much. (good song though)

Real emo music (The stuff that Treeboy has been kindly giving to you) is short for Emotional Hardcore as Treeboy mentioned 90% of the bands out there that are considered Emo, aren't even close to the genre.

Hey, that's my line >:V

OT: Calculating Infinity is my favorite TDEP album, Miss Machine being a close second. I also love Option Paralysis, not sure why people bash it so often

I don't see why people complain about songs with sexual lyrics. I understand that stuff like "Stupid H*e" by Nicki Minaj is garbage but Nine Inch Nails's songs are usually about sex and they're really good songs.

Arch Enemy is the most overrated melodic death metal band ever. Sure they're good but they're not that good.

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm reviving this thread again.

Anyways, I still don't understand the whole "I have a weird taste in music". Why would you want everyone to listen to the same stuff you like? Being 13 and liking Led Zeppelin does not make you special.

That's the same people who claims to be "born in the wrong generation"

OT: Timeless is the best DnB album in my opinion. Yes, even better than Ultravisitor, Lunatic Harness and Permutation

I feel like the rolling stones are super overated. (the band not the magazine, the magazine is awesome.)

Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd are the best bands in the history of music! (though someone probably agrees with me.)

Geezer Butler, Tim Commerford and Noel Redding are the greatest bassists of all time.

Neil Peart is the third greatest drummer of all time, third to Bill Ward, and the Rev.

The smashing Pumpkins Is the greatest Alternative band of all time.

Jimmy Page, Jimmy Hendrix,Tony Iommi and David Gilmour are the greatest guitarists of all time.

My favorite Radiohead Album is the Bends

I like Lil Wayne! (knuff said.)

I like Tyler the Creator and Odd Future

Wu tang clan is the best Rap group ever!

And I actually like Flyleaf (dont judge me!)

I think FL studio is overrated. In brony circles it praised as the DAW the gods bestowed upon mankind. Nobody uses it in the music industry, its made for consumers.

Michael Jackson is overrated

The Beatles are overrated

Beyonce is overrated

*Nsync, The Backstreet Boys, and the Spice Girls all have a few good songs. But the others tick me off.

(This probably isnt unpopular) Kidzbop ruined everything.

I probably have a ton more that I just can't think of.

I honestly think that today's music is better than yesterday's. I also think that there was more garbage in the 80's than there is today.

Mainstream music has always been shitty, if that's what you're talking about. 2013 has been a great music year imo

Michael Jackson is overrated

This. People really over glorify his death. He was a pop singer, not a god

I also think Nsync and Backstreet Boys have a few good songs. Whatever, sue me.

Yeah, I mean, he was a talented artist, but I agree with you.

People tend to always overly worship artists/musicians that died. I don't get that.

You can't deny his timeless appeal and incredible talent. He was glorified even before he died. Of course, he's SUPER glorified now, which isn't all well-deserved. I'd call Thriller mandatory listening for anyone who likes music at all.

People who say things like "Music nowadays sucks" are annoying as hell.

People who think that good metal only comes out of Europe are annoying.

Mike Portnoy is a huge douche for trying to sue his ex-band mates.

John Petrucci is overrated.

People who say that grindcore sucks just because it has the word "core" in it are ignorant. (Same with metalcore)

Bathory invented black metal, not Venom.

Venom was the best NWOBHM band.

Destruction is my favorite thrash metal band.

Igor Cavalera is an underrated drummer.

I kinda like Lars Ulrich, he's a good drummer too.

I like Anal Cunt's music.

Obsessed By Cruelty is Sodom's best album.

I can understand why the Norwegian church burnings happaned.

I really like Pablo Honey, You is my favorite Radiohead song.

Meat Is Murder is better than The Queen Is Dead.

The Stooges invented punk, not the Ramones.

Post-hardcore used to be a good genre of music.

I find Coldplay to depressing and boring.

Pitchfork and Rolling Stone both suck.

I don't like Lady Gaga's music but, she seems like a nice person.

There's plenty of good music today, people just can find it.

1. Yes.

2. Yes.

3. I don't know about it, but I could understand that opinion. All I know is Portnoy is a talented drummer.

4. Know the name, don't know why.

5. I know nothing about grindcore or metalcore that would make me form any opinion other than "I don't really like large quantities of screaming."

I like Coldplay, I like some Lady Gaga.

Opinions of my own:

My opinion that apparently is taboo, according to AbsolutePunk (as if the users of the site are some superior authourity, but whatever.) I don't like Radiohead's music. I have no strong opinions about the band other than I respect their musical work as art.

I don't really listen to NIN but again, I respect what they do.

I like new Linkin Park, possibly more than old Linkin Park.

I can't listen to jazz or classical on a CD or anything like that. Live, possibly, on a radio? No.

I like country AND metal AND punk AND some rap.

Uhm, I like ke$ha. Everyone seems to hate her, and I find her music to be quite catchy.

On the negative side, I can't stand 80's rock, or rock n' roll, and most older music I cannot stand.

Of course I can't deny that, who could? But during the days after he passed away, he seemed to have accumulated more "fans" than he ever did during his entire lifetime.

He was a talented musician and he should be remembered as such, nothing more

I like Ke$ha, I like SOME of all the others, I wouldn't blanket any genre.

For example, I LOVE Tom Sawyer by Rush, Foxy Lady by Jimi Hendrix ,etc.

I'm gonna come out and say it:

I don't like Radiohead. I recognize that they're good, but I just can't stand their music.

The Beatles are as overrated as Final Fantasy VII (both are good, and I like them, but c'mon people, shut up about 'em).

I like Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" (not sure why, maybe it's just that it's really freakin' catchey).

I prefer the majority of Van Canto's covers to the originals (with the exception of "Wishmaster" and "The Bard's Song").

I HATE Lead Zeppelin, not just as musicians but as people ("Stairway to Heaven" was stolen from some underground band, just to give an example).

I prefer CDs to MP3s.

Jimmy Hendrix is also overrated. Great guitarist, but I'm sick of hearing that.

I don't mind country, unless we're talking what country is turning into with the soppy love song garbage.

I think I'll stop here... don't want to get TOO preachy.

No, I will not go to Hell... they have a restraining order.

Why y'all dissin' Radiohead? Y'all lame man.

JK but how can some people not like Radiohead? :c

I can't stand 80's rock

Depends. In the 80's you have all this yucky stuff like Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, etc..

And then you have truly amazing stuff like this:

FLEX YOUR MUSCLES

Actually, neither of us dissed Radiohead?

We both said we respect their musical endeavors, we just don't find it for us. *Can't tell if sarcasm on the 'net.*

I can tell you're new here and not use to my humor.

OT: I never cared for Bob Marley, I guess he's okay but he's nothing special.

I hate how some people who claim to be thrash fans only listen to the big 4 plus Pantera and Iron Maiden. I've seen it a YouTube several times before.
