Are pony/brony haters really that obnoxious, or do we just see them like that?

That may sometimes be the case but not always, there are some people that no matter how reasonable you yourself may be they will still hate you because you like cartoon ponies. This is not to say that you need to stoop to their level but I really don't see how I am somehow responsible for the actions of others I have nothing to do with.

Reason is not a good weapon against a lack of love.

And you are not responsible for the actions of others, but for how you receive them.

All you have to do is take a bunch of letters! Add it to the thread! Now just take a little something bold, not italic! A bit of underline, just a pinch! Writing these words is such a cinch! Add a teaspoon of punilla! Add a little more, and you count to four, and you always get your filler... Onehundred! So sweet and tasty! Hundred! Don't be too hasty! Hundred! Hundred, hundred, HUNDRED!

Funny thing is, the haters are basically what got me into the show. See, I knew of the show, but after over a year of hearing all this debate (to put it kindly), I decided to check out the show to see what all the fuss was about. Since I'm on here, you can guess how it turned out.

That said, there is definitely fault on both sides. SOME bronies can be obnoxious about it, running around criticizing people for not liking or watching the show. SOME non-bronies can be obnoxious about not liking the show, calling everyone who does a clopper and a closet pedophile. But that's every fandom for you. I don't let it bother me. I don't go around wearing a Rainbow Dash T-shirt (mostly because I don't own one), but I'm not ashamed to be a brony. If anyone lets it bother them, I don't mind. I know I like it, that's all that matters to me.

Being a part of the Sonic The Hedgehog fandom...it was just something that was going to occur once the blazing firestorm that is the Brony fandom caught wind of the internets and other people.

There are a few things that I wrote about this on an mini article/rant where haters don't necessarily even hate us because we're Bronies, they just hate us because they hate loud obnoxious people or people that are pushy/trying to force them onto something.

If I may be allowed, here's what I wrote:

~~~
How many times have you had to bite your tongue because someone said that a friend/peer you know would "enjoy something more if it weren't for (specific fan group here)" as if that's the one roadblock they worry about that's preventing them.
A lot, right? Yeah I hate it, and I've about had it with reading that bile because I feel everybody misses the big picture when it comes to fandoms. To reiterate the main topic, what is a common thing that happens when you get into something and you come across someone who's not as into it as you are? You might hear them say something like "It's not that I don't like (subject/topic/movie/anime/game/etc), it's just I hate the (specific group of fans mentioned here)." and really, that's a bunch of crap.
Like for example, I'm seeing more and more of the Brony name being ousted as being negative, just like how Sonic fans are sometimes called 'fur fags' cuz of us liking Sonic (who just SO happens to be an anthropomorphic character), and casual gamers being called 'the cancer killing video games'. I hear people will say "I like MLP but I'm not a Brony because I'm not shoving it in people's faces."
NO.
You don't have to drag the term "Brony" through the mud just like you don't have to specifically oust any other fandom at all. What the aforementioned people have a problem with are pushy people and really I think we ALL can agree to that.
I mean sure you may not like something as hardcore as someone else but I'm sure you don't like it when someone who enjoys the same thing you do SUDDENLY spoils a topic by going a million words a second and probably says a bit more than you're comfortable hearing, right? Nobody likes feeling uncomfortable and that goes for personal space: pushy people on any sort of level make most of us feel uncomfortable and you don't have to tag any specific group of people or a franchise of anything to see that. Just as there are immature, idiotic people who will literally marry fake characters from a novel, there are equally a large number of people who are mature about their passion and know how to tackle the subject without alienating people. If you even have the pleasure to meet a smaller group of hardcore fans, there are those that will take the time to see if they can introduce you to something they enjoy and if you don't like it they can step back and go "Hey at least you gave it a shot." and mosey on their way.
We are not drooling, pathetic chumps completely incapable of thought outside of chanting the name of the things we like akin to barbarians: please stop talking about us like it or as if we're a disease. We are all human and we have real feelings deep down, and we don't need people who are quick to judge to make us feel insecure about something YOU yourself may or may not like. There's just simply different strokes for different folks.
If someone else's actions truly screws up your own love for something (IE: "I used to like X, but I don't anymore because of the fans") then you never had a true appreciation for it in the first place, you fickle hearted Anon. Forget what others say or do and find out the reason YOU like something regardless of what others do. Oh, and pushy people suck of course.
Yes I too am sick of hearing that if someone really dosen't like something because of the actions of a few than they are little more than sheep. I have been a part of the Star Wars fandom for 15 years and though there has been certain fans that I think should be slapped for stupidity I have never let the idiots affect my love of Star Wars one bit. And I have been a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan for 20 years and that has its share of idiots too though not as many as the Star Wars fandom and I still don't care, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was and still is my favorite show of all time.
i think both sides of the fandom can be obnoxious(Here me out).
Haters do hate because they wont like the show(until they watch it)
but Bronies also do troll the haters which could get a response.
Anyone watch Bhaalspawn?
His videos on the culture can give a pretty good refrence.Every fandom has a dark side
Some haters will continue to hate even if they do watch the show. I know that there are some people on this forum who admitted to being haters when they first heard of MLP, but for the most part, haters are a lost cause. The only people who can change them are themselves.
