Feel free to add me on steam if you want to play something. Also don't be afraid to message and talk to me. I've had bad luck when I start a conversation, so I more then likely won't start one.

I just finished watching "Arachnophobia" on Netflix.  I enjoy movies like that about a group of people with different skill sets coming together to face a monstrous enemy.  A couple of other examples would be "Lake Placid" and "Evolution."  That type of movie should be its own genre.

What would that genre be called?

And can anyone else think of other examples?

"Interstellar"

The sky's the limit, and Christopher Nolan's "Interstellar" dares to even defy those. A space adventure on a scale not seen since Stanley Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey", "Interstellar" tells the harrowing tale of one mans mission to save his doomed planet.

In the not so distant future, humanity is quickly running out of time. Although the end of the world has brought world peace, it has also brought world famine and drought. Dust storms frequent the plains of the Midwest where Cooper (Mathew McConaughey), a retired pilot turned farmer, and his family survive. Crops are quickly becoming extinct, leaving only corn and eventually: nothing. It is from a gravitational disruption in young Murphy Cooper's room that Cooper is led to the last remnants of NASA and his fate. Through a wormhole, Endurance pilot Cooper and his crew, Doyle (Wes Bentley), Romilly (David Gyasi), robotic TARS (Bill Irwin), Amelia Brand (Anne Hathaway) - daughter of Professor Brand (Michael Caine) - find other worlds and strange new phenomena. They also find three of the pilots of the Lazarus Mission - a group of twelve astronauts previously sent through the wormhole to study twelve potential new worlds - including Dr. Mann (Matt Damon) found on a frightful icy planet. In this new galaxy, the crew of the Endurance will find danger, time warps, and new horizons.

Back on Earth, however, time is running out and while Tom Cooper (Casey Affleck) grows up to be a family farmer like his father, Murphy (Jessica Chastain) grows up to be a physicist rushing to complete the work Professor Brand started. It is through the help of a familiar gravitational anomaly that Murphy discovers secrets of the universe.

The most special feature of this film is just how much science it introduces to the masses. Although the terminology can be a little technical, it is nevertheless fascinating to both general audiences and geeks alike. No laws of physics were harmed in the making of this film, though they certainly stretch the gray matter of the scientifically minded. From the lack of sounds in space to shape of the wormhole, this film will definitely alter the common perception of astrophysics. Rather than just a tunnel of speeding stars, audiences are treated to a kaleidoscope of dazzling galaxies and stars rushing before our eyes. The sound of the spacecraft moaning from the inside as it passes through space-time bending creates a very tense mood as the heroes are tossed galaxies apart.

The only thing really wrong with this film is the scoring. Now, the score itself is imposing and grand. Zimmer has chosen to include a large amount of pipe organ within his sound track, and it is very well done. However, the way the music inserted into the film makes for the dialogue to be muffled on occasion. Besides the minor inconvenience, this film is extremely well made and a thrill ride light years in the making.

To my recollection, I believe it was Blackfish. It was a really good but really sad documentary. I thought it was awesome.

...The film, not what happened to the orcas or the trainers...

I watched Guardians Of The Galaxy last night, it was pretty awesome.Though how a Spaceship made out of rocks and concrete and such, is able to fly, is beyond me.

Then today, I watched "Tammy" it was pretty good.

Seen a few new movies lately: The Drop, The Imitation Game and today I seen Get On Up.

Thoughts on Get On Up: It was quite good, but there seemed a bit of a mixed message throughout. I wasn't sure whether the film was wanting to celebrate James Brown in general, or try and take a deeper look at the man himself behind the pomp and circumstance. The film never really committed to doing either and lacked a real punch because of it. This indecisiveness was carried into the narrative of the story, which started out non-linear; jumping between, back and forth, at different points in his life. Then it seemed to switch to a more straight forward timeline. The breaking of the 4th wall was nice and interesting, obviously was taking a bit of inspiration from House of Cards in recent years. The best moment of this was actually in the scene with Brown beating up on wife number 2. It was different to see the character reacting to the audience in such a dark moment and it would've been better to have seen that done a bit more.

I thought the acting was top notch though. This was the first I'd seen of Chadwick Boseman and I thought he was bloody brilliant. He had Mr. Brown down to an absolute tee and had a real sense of both charisma and fragility. I can see why Marvel has plumped for him as Black Panther in that sense, still think he'll need to massively bulk up though.
