Hey everyone, I'm new to the MLP forums, but that's aside from the point. I'll post that in the welcome section.

I've been working on a pony metal album that sounds kind of symphonic/progressive metal-esque with a little Trans-Siberian Orchestra in there too.

Would anyone like to hear some of the stuff I've worked on?

That sounds really awesome, I definitely wouldn't mind hearing it. Also, there is the website pony.fm where you can upload it and everyone can listen to it.

Fantastic. The only unfortunate thing is that the brony community will be a short-lived subculture so other people may not hear about it after MLP stops being made and the brony community dies down - reminds me a little bit of the death of the Whig (american political) party.

Mm, I'm not entirely sure I'd agree with that. Small political parties will come and go because, frankly, rarely does anyone take them seriously compared to the major parties - majority rules, and all that. But a fandom is more-or-less a celebration of the esoteric, the quirky minority, and thus a fandom/subculture never truly dies until there are no fans remaining, and you'd be surprised how rarely that happens; even franchises that a lot of people can agree have been ruined by their creators, like Final Fantasy or Star Wars, still manage to maintain a strong following, even long after the series becomes "dead" to the fanbase at large.

Of course, MLP may not be as big as FF or SW, but one cannot deny that Invader Zim, as short-lived a series as that was, left a more-or-less permanent mark on the world and still has a remarkably strong cult following to this very day (of which I am a part, myself). I predict that MLP will turn out much the same...although, hopefully, it won't end as abruptly nor on as sour a note as IZ did.

So don't be worried that your music will "go to waste" as it were. (Music can never go to waste!) Even if the show did eventually crash and burn due to bad writing decisions, it will still maintain a strong cult following for a great time to come. I implore you, make pony metal...this community has a gross surplus of subpar dubstep and a crippling shortage of good metal. dry.png

Yes, please post any of the stuff you've been working on, I'd love to hear it! Don't worry, this fandom isn't going anywhere anytime soon, I know of a couple obscure PC games from 10 years ago that still have a active fanbase, and at their most popular point had about a thousand fans. Think of how much bigger MLP is!

I never said anything was ruined by its characters - I was talking about when hasbro stops producing the show. lolololololol

Well that's exactly what I was saying myself, sir. Going back to Invader Zim, that show only had a couple seasons before it got axed, yet the fandom is still very much there. Likewise, the brony community will be around long after Hasbro stops producing FiM. I.e., don't worry - bronies are here to stay.

Well, okay, I suppose - but I could see the amount of fans becoming smaller. In the end, all shall be forgotten... if you think about it, that is probably true.

As a guy who likes metal, heck yeah! I can't wait, I would love to hear some of that stuff. I do like one of Trans-Siberian Orchestra's songs, Wizards in Winter. biggrin.png

I saw TSO on The Lost Christmas Eve Tour last year. It was fantastic. I don't really think it's easy to classify TSO by one song, though. They have some diversity in their content. ^^
