Bhending the Rules 697 May 9, 2013 Share May 9, 2013 I don't see this posted anywhere on here yet, so... This is the list of theaters that the EG movie will be playing in come June 16. Don't know for sure if this is a one-day event or if it'll have a conventional multiple-week theatrical run, information on this project seems to be a slow trickle all the time. http://www.screenvision.com/cinema-events/my-little-pony-equestria-girls/ Very mixed emotions about this. It'll be playing less than half an hour from my house. I really hope it's a solid movie and goes down as a success, and I think it's cool that Hasbro is behind this enough to put it into 298 US theaters. (Yes, I counted.) On the other hand... I've been one of the outspoken critics of EG, mostly because the limited bits of information have been off-putting. To me, at least. I wonder what more will come over the next six weeks. Will we get an official trailer? Confirmation of voice cast? Identity of supporting characters and villain, if any? The other thing I'm seriously wondering about is how long this was in the can before they announced it. Rumors have ranged from "spin-off series" to now pretty much officially being "feature film and who knows what else". But they couldn't have thrown all of this together and done the animation in less than a year... could they? If they did, Hasbro went the fast and cheap route and it's gonna be horrible. (Except for maybe the music.) If they didn't, I'm wondering how long they HAVE been working on this, and what form it's been in for all that time. Regardless, I'm still hoping for the best but can't say I'm optimistic. But that's just me. Not sure if I'll actually buy a ticket yet.
Sir.Flutter Hooves 2,953 May 9, 2013 Share May 9, 2013 YES! There's showing in Tennessee! I for one cannot wait for this, because anything dealing with MLP:FIM is great. I"m gonna wear all my brony gear and march up to the counter and DEMAND two of their manlest tickets they have. /) Thanks for posting this! 3 This fantastic signature is made my by awesome friend Rainbow Skywalker! ~Silver Essence~ 2,625 May 9, 2013 Share May 9, 2013 Wow! Looks like they are going to show it in theaters as well. I was wrong, but then again, I don't know what to say. Maybe I'll see it...
Zygen 6,066 May 9, 2013 Share May 9, 2013 Eh, I probably won't go. Just because I don't have high hopes, and somehow I feel like it'll be on youtube eventually anyways . And also, I thought someone told me they where just going to make it a DVD and not put it in theaters? Oh well guess I must be hearing things wrong. I guess it could be decent, but regardless i'm a closet brony, so I can't go watch it in theaters anyways. Thanks to Gone Airbourne for the awesome sig! Veylon 255 May 9, 2013 Share May 9, 2013 It's showing fifteen minutes from my house. I live in Minnesota, and anything trendy or cultured generally happens in and around the Twin Cities. And yet, out of the meager seven theaters showing this thing, one of them is the closest possible theater to me. I was going to make the excuse that driving upwards of an hour to see a (probably?) terrible movie would be completely unreasonable, but I've seen many a movie in the very theater, probably in the same room where maybe-ponies will be playing. Damn you convenience! But anyway, so apparently this is a real thing that's really happening then? I still can't quite convince myself that this isn't some bizarre rumor risen from the grave of the cutting room floor. I guess I'll have to poll the family and see who'll see it with me. Acoustic Cloud 2,202 May 9, 2013 Share May 9, 2013 Yay! One theater in my state is showing it.... and it's as far away as possible... Might actually be quicker to go to another state. *shrugs, I'll just wait for the home release.
Yamato 1,348 May 9, 2013 Share May 9, 2013 The only way I would go see this is if it was playing at the dollar theatre down the road. I ain't drivin' up to Stillwater and paying $7 to see that crap! This is the greatest OC of all time.
Dzastur 1,719 May 9, 2013 Share May 9, 2013 It's the sort of thing I might see on Netflix out of curiosity. I'd be torn about taking a trip to the theater to see it. And yet it's showing within a mere 20-minute walk from where I live...and will I ever get to see the ponies on the big screen if I don't go? (Even if they're only on it for a few minutes...) 1 Ain’t that Equestria / Drop on by / Ain’t that Equestria / Give friendship a try / Ain’t that Equestria / Ponies who fly / Little pink cupcakes for Pinkie Pie
Derpular 90 May 9, 2013 Share May 9, 2013 Yay, it's playing in a bunch of theaters in my state! I'm totally going to see it. I hope it's good. I'm optimistic. The story sounds interesting to me.
Sir Cal Stonehoof 596 May 9, 2013 Share May 9, 2013 Yeah as much as I want to see it..I don't want to go pay an arm and a leg at the theater...besides..to me it just seems like they're ripping off Monster High... Highschool? Really?! I still can't wrap my head around that plot line....I just don't want to be met with the biggest problem the human versions of the Mane 6 face is not having a boyfriend, or something that shallow.. I'm still on the fence on this..I just may have to for the home release on this one, or rent it before I buy it.. Now not trying to get off topic, but this gives insight to how old the Mane 6 could be..Even though I figured the Mane 6 were older than high school age. Rarity acts so mature, I would have put her as the oldest (maybe late 20's early 30's) I think Apple Jack (mid 20's) would be the second oldest followed by Fluttershy(Early to mid 20's), and then Pinkie Pie (A year behind Fluttershy), Rainbow Dash, and Twilight being around the same age (late teens to early 20's). Just a thought I had..like I said not trying to get off topic. lol Signature By: ~Sassy Dashie~
TheMarkz0ne 962 May 9, 2013 Share May 9, 2013 Well I lucked out. I also find it funny that the movie will be playing in the home town I grew up in. I don't know whether to be sad or angry. Hate to sound negative but I'm not looking forward to seeing this movie. It feels like a chore

Funny you should say that. After season 2 ended, I was talking about how they should make a FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC movie. Not a spin-off, just a feature length movie set in the world of the show. Make an 80-90 minute film in the style of FiM, put in an awesome antagonist, and structure it similar to the Royal Wedding. Put in a bunch of great songs, maybe introduce a new character or two, have a life-changing event of some sort, and turn the last 10-15 minutes into straight-up action jazz. You'd have an interesting looking-trailer and ALL of the Bronies would be on board and buying as many tickets as possible. That might have even gotten a wide release ("wide" being defined as 1000+ theaters in moviespeak) and that's how I would want to see it done. Who knows, maybe that might yet happen at some point, but somehow I think the existence of EG makes it at least a bit less likely. Incidentally, Equestria Girls is really low-profile for what is supposedly an imminent theatrical release; IMDB doesn't even know it exists. No wonder the information we've been getting is so confusing.
Doctor Derpy 164 May 9, 2013 Share May 9, 2013 Well of course! Its not playing where I live, not even remotely. I seriously wished that I lived somewhere rather than Alaska. Gonna have to watch it somehow. *Facedesk* *FistMonitor* “I don’t know about angels, but it’s fear that gives men wings.” – Max Payne
OceanSapphire 227 May 9, 2013 Share May 9, 2013 Well it's playing about a 25 minute drive from me. I'll have to get my dad to let me borrow his truck without him asking me where I'm going. There's also the fear of the movie theater employees laughing at me whether their upfront about it or they do it behind my back. Grrrr, why can't we have fully automized movie theaters? Sunnerino 182 May 9, 2013 Share May 9, 2013 There's a couple theaters that are gonna show it where I live, except they're all extremely far away, which sucks majorly, because I'm not gonna drive up to Miami, or Tampa just to see a movie. If you see me around, feel free to say hey!
IronPonyApplejack 318 May 9, 2013 Share May 9, 2013 Hmmm....playing at a theater 15 minutes from my house... Well, I might as well. If anyone else is going to the one in Franklin, TN, let me know! Mzukiller 233 May 10, 2013 Share May 10, 2013 Dear sweet Cadence, I actually have to see previews of this abomination when I go to see Iron Man next week. I. CAN'T. DEAL. Also, each of the Mane 6 should be around their 20s. Rarity at most being 25 and twilight at least being 19. But I have no real facts to back this up. 1 I am a Brony. Lady Leopardess 393 May 10, 2013 Share May 10, 2013 Darn it's too far away to be easily reachable. Unless I take the hour trip to the big city. I suppose if I happen to get the day off of work I could but I might just wait for the DVD to show up at like my library or something.
Tual 152 May 10, 2013 Share May 10, 2013 Only in the States... *Le sigh* That kinda stinks... I really wish it was showing in Canada. Me and my buddy could of gone, to see if any other bronies apart from us were around. DX Dang you Americans, getting all the cool stuff. Especially pony-related. Radiance64 7,053 May 10, 2013 Share May 10, 2013 It's not coming to Manitowoc?! What is this madness?! Batbrony 16,056 May 10, 2013 Share May 10, 2013 (edited) On the other hand... I've been one of the outspoken critics of EG, mostly because the limited bits of information have been off-putting. Rumors have ranged from "spin-off series" to now pretty much officially being "feature film and who knows what else". But they couldn't have thrown all of this together and done the animation in less than a year... could they? You make some very good points; the part I'm most worried about (besides the little bits of information they've already released thus far, which just keep getting more and more polarizing) is quite simply the little information we have about it as of yet. I mean, we're just a little more than a month away from them releasing this thing in dozens of theaters nationwide for AT LEAST 1 day... and they haven't released even a minute long teaser trailer? I'm sorry, but, the lack of advertising suggests to me that the folks at Hasbro are hoping that EG's attachment to the MLP name more than anything else will attract people to shelve out money for it, and don't have faith in the actual product itself! The lack of information, the generic as heck plot premise (if you haven't seen it yet, here it is... and yeah, it's pretty bucking bad https://i.chzbgr.com/maxW500/7430675200/h000CB8BE/ ), the piss-poor anthro designs (those bucking ears, red lips, and twig arms... GAH, they're bucking creepy!!! ); right now, this all has the makings of a cheap, rushed cash-cow on Hasbro's part. My one hope is that, as purportedly stated a few months earlier, it's not canon, because if it's as bad as I think it's going to be, it'd be a real shame to make THAT canon with the rest of the series. I can also take comfort in the fact that it's a movie and NOT a spinoff series as we thought it would be awhile ago. But still, if it's bad (which I honestly think it will be), then I really do hope it tanks hard and teaches Hasbro a lesson about trying to push something out cheap and quick, relying on brand power alone and not actual quality.
