Shankveld 4,951 February 8, 2012 Share February 8, 2012 I was watching an old 80's show where one of the 'cool' teenaged boys hold out his fist and says "pound it" and they 'brohoof' oh dear, I love it (: ~

Colon Leftbracket 971 February 8, 2012 Share February 8, 2012 Well there was the Pound as people used to call it. Then a few years ago the internet started its Bro phase and it was renamed the Brofist. It has also been called the Respect Knuckles. These all seem to come from variations of the handshake and high five! [New siggy in progress!]

SharpWit 2,884 August 6, 2020 Share August 6, 2020 @Splashee® Wow, you must have been digging deep to make this resurface I want to say brofists came largely from Pewdiepie since they were a sort of signature to end his videos on at one point. I grew up with them being called fist bumps. Memory has me recalling them being somewhat common in media since the 80s at least.

And yes, I am amazed how far we have come as bronies after reading 2011 comments
Envy 6,430 August 6, 2020 Share August 6, 2020 It didn't always have 'bro' in it. =/ I always understood it as "fist bump". Even in MLP, it is officially a "hoof bump". This forum should have called it that, too. Everything needs more woodwind!

MLP is an official franchise of Hasbro's. You're not making any sense. Everything needs more woodwind!

Dreambiscuit 11,573 October 1, 2023 Share October 1, 2023 Fist bumps is what I remember them being called, which is pretty much as it is today. I never noticed any particular evolution of it except the title ‘brohoofs’ which is unique to MLP anyway.
