So a while back I found this channel where this guy does a bunch of rock/metal covers of video game music such as Pokemon, Zelda, etc. This guy's covers are amazing, I downloaded all of his Pokemon ones, they are so good!!!

Powerglove does a lot of Metal remakes of old video game music, though some of it is more like original pieces that use some of the themes from in-game music. This is their most recognizable piece:

They also did an awesome cover of the original Pokémon theme song, but that was never technically in a video game.

Wow these are so cool haha, i love how they sound on guitar, I don't know why it just sounds so awesome. 

 

I honestly haven't heard some of these since I haven't played some of the older pokemon games in a while, but these where definitely refreshing to hear .

Cool that you'd post this guy in the OP, one of the only VG covers I like is from that guy. One of my favourite game OST's too. Danny Baranowsky makes some awesome stuff.

Here is a rock remix of "U.N. Owen Was Her?" from the Touhou series. It is probably one of the (if not the) most recognizable songs from this franchise. I have provided the original, as well as the cover.

This is the rock version of the Long Train Journey (Or more properly, the extended remixed Triage at Dawn, so it's kind of a Rock cover of a remix?) from Half Life 2. Not sure exactly who it's by, but it's just plain awesome.

One of my favorite tracks from sonic generations and the guitar parts in it are pretty awesome . 

 

The overall game has some really awesome music and this guy does a good job with this song .
