I don't really think the world needs a special cue to be romantic. It's nice if you're in the biz of selling chocolates though. 

I always get mine the day after, when they go on sale.

To me Valentine's Day is meant for being extra sweet towards my friends, though I love and cherish my friends every day.

I adore Valentines Day! It's my second favourite holiday after Samhain! I use it as a day to extra dote on my husband, friends and family! I'm a huge romantic so all the hearts, roses, candies, wine and sparkling jewels just intoxicates me. I usually go all out on Valentines Day, and my husband never knows what I'm going to do next. <3 <3 <3

Anyone who continues that trope of "Singles Awareness Day" doesn't understand the meaning behind what Valentines Day is supposed to represent. it may be mainly marketed to couples, but it is for family  and friends as well. Show them extra, special love this day. You don't have to be all humbug about it because you're single.

No sense in viewing it like that. Of course, I can't change your mind, but as I stated above, make it a day about family and friends. It doesn't have to be about you and your relationship status. You have other meaningful relationships in your life, I take it. ^___^

I love love love Valentines Day! 

I work at Godiva so I should hate Valentines Day but I've always loved it. I'm a very sappy, lovey dovey person, even when I was single. Romance makes my heart soar. Now that's I'm married, it's the perfect excuse to be as affectionate in public as I want. I don't have to tone it down. I do agree that people should remember that we should share our love with other every day, not just that one day!

Shouldn't we be kind, charitable, generous and help the needy all year round? Who needs the holidays?

I neglect to say Christmas because some don't call it that, like myself, I call it Yule, because it was originally a Pagan holiday stolen by the Christians, but I will not get bitter here---my main point is that the holidays, Christmas, Yule, whatever you call it, are overall supposed to be times of sharing, charity, kindness, and joy----but using your argument we should just do that every day and never have the holidays.

The point of Valentines Day is not to say "be only loving on this day!" sort of thing, it's a dedication day, to the love you have for your relationships. Yes, please, do be loving all year 'round, but there's nothing wrong with having a dedicated day for it. : 3 Granted, yes, a lot of it is for corporate greed, but it's here to stay so we might as well take the fluffy stuff off the top and enjoy it!
