Why do people think there is going to be a Derpy episode in season 4?

 

I mean some people (mostly soccer moms) got mad at a part that was barley a minute long. So I don't think the writers or Hasbro want to go threw that again. And if they do make it and the same thing happens we won't just lose a 1 minute part, we well lose a whole episode. Not to mention there is no proof saying if they did make this episode they are going to make her like we have created. Yes, I also know about the disabled episode, but that could be about Scootaloo, one of the other main character or some new character they make. I just don't see Derpy being the main focus of a disabled episode.

 

Now I have been losing interest in Derpy now because I feel like everyone expects to much from her and she have just gotten to big. Like she is the only one who is important in the show. I don't hate Derpy I'm just saying I don't see her as that important. That's just me.

 

So just tell me why people have hope of this happening?

I've never heard of anyone saying something about Derpy coming back in season four. If anything, I remember that they removed Derpy from the show T-T

Slight misunderstanding of the question. Derpy was present in the final episode of Season 3, proving that the 'forever ban' was either gone or didn't really exist in the first place, and is likely to be a background pony again in Season 4. So if being a background pony makes it a 'Derpy episode' then we'll probably have plenty.

 

However, the question is whether or not Derpy will have a *central* role in one of the Season 4 episodes, which is very, very unlikely. It's also unlikely she'll get a line again.

 

About the rumor about the disabled episode, I don't think Hasbro or Discovery will let that one go out without it being so sanitized that it would be insulting. A 'very special episode', as per the trope in it's entirety. It might happen, and the writers might pull it off, but they'll be working under even more onerous pressure from upper management than they've ever experienced before.

I've never believed that Derpy's famous facial expression was a render error, I've always thought that was an excuse Hasbro used to throw the blame away from someone and onto Flash. Besides it's not the look that people were unhappy with it's the name. She could have been a main character called Silly Hooves and no one would have cared. So part of her being removed falls on the fandom for the unconventional naming. And no the "last roundup" writer would not have named her Derpy if not for the famed fan given name. There shouldn't have been a problem with her anyway it's just that some moron has taken offence to it. 

As for her not being shown in season 4 i wouldn't notice the difference. I never saw her in season 3 until people pointed her out anyway.

Given that we have yet to really have an episode that focuses on a "background pony", I highly doubt that we will in season 4. And Derpy is the least likely candidate because of the controversy surrounding her.

I think it is a combination of wishful thinking and the rumors of an episode about a disabled pony, I understand the wishful thinking as I myself would love to have a Derpy episode but if they do make such an episode I do not believe it will be about Derpy because of the controversy surrounding Derpy. I think that such an episode will most likely either be about Scootaloo as Lauren Faust has said that it was her intention to make her disabled by making her a pegasus that cannot fly, a new character or an already established main character or secondary character. Twilight totally has OCD, while I am not usually into diagnosing characters like that Twilight is such an extreme example that I am making a definite exception in that case.

 

I think the reason why a lot of people want a Derpy episode is to set the record straight that she is not and was not intended to be a walking talking stereotype. She was not confirmed one way or another to be mentally challenged, people only assumed she was because of her name, voice which while I am not offended by honestly don't think suited her character, walled eyes and clumsy child like nature. Alot of people who are seen as different both disabled and not identify with Derpy because she is different from the other ponies and like the positive message of accepting people or ponies in this case for who they are and the potential to reinforce the lesson taught in Bridle Gossip of not judging by appearances.

Well if folks like Derpy, of course they will want her in an episode again. I personally like Derpy too, but I'm not one to hope for the impossible.

 

On that note, I never really got the whole Derpy controversy in the first place, especially since we have a pony like Snails on the show and no one raised an eyebrow over him, but I digress. If folks are talking about a Derpy episode in Season Four, they're either just talking about what they'd like to see or just throwing out random rumors they've heard.

I think Scootaloo would be more fitted for an episode of that caliber; If such an episode would be considered without being sanitized it would be quite interesting.

 

Derpy however is more or less staying in the background. It was pretty much clear that the whole ban thing was just a hoax, but Derpy will never get a bigger role than what she has now. All this nonsense about her getting a, episode is I'm my own opinion; far fetched. Derpy is a background character and it shall stay that way throughout the course of the series.
