Groups for Artists, Musicians, Writers, etc.

Well, I was thinking we could have groups for the artists, musicians etc. around here on the forums. They have to earn their in the group by making a certain amount of drawings, songs, videos, stories etc. And they can do certain things. And it will make others to contribute the fandom. We can help one of our favorite fandoms out.

"Something" isn't that in-depth of a suggestion, but I'm assuming you mean some kind of special title, badge, or etc.;

 

This has been brought up before, and has been rejected, justifiably. We do not want other members to feel less than others, and giving artists a special "something" to make them stand out is only going to make them seem more intimidating to other users. 

 

While the attempt to think of a way to appreciate the artists is nice, this is not a good way to go about it.

And adding to what Homura said, anyone can say that there an artist and then get the badge without even earning it. And people could be unwantingly bombarded with requests just because they have said artist badge.

 

It does sound like a good idea, but it really wouldn't end well.

Seriously though, badges and titles and other superficial things have been brought up many a time and have been denied, and outside that, I can't of anything off-hand that's particularly needed.

I didnt say badges. Did you read the full thread title. "Team" is in it. And it could happen for the other fandom stuff like music video etc. I'm not trying to make artists stand out. I just want to make something fun on the forums. Not saying the forum is boring. And we could make it even funner by making them have to do a certain about of art/songs/videos etc. (depending on what they do.) To make it better, I'll change the title and OP so nothing is misunderstood.

My guess is that Zoey means it'd be part of the Team Rankings for users, just as there's an official Team Rank for Staff here (Alicorns and Royal Guards.) This would still fall under a special title or badge though, as Sugar Plum pointed out in their post. 

 

I feel as though when it comes to an individual being motivated to contribute (or do) something it shouldn't be influenced by outside sources such as a special group or title, it should come from the pure will to do it for the users own benefit. I've found that while something such as this can motivate someone to contribute content, it's short lived and can actually do more harm than good.

Well we had this super-awesome artist group for the people who made signatures back in the days in the siggy request thread. Though the team died after a while.. I don't even think it was that active when you joined the forums. I guess it was like 2 or something people who were active there haha.

 

Anyways I guess he means some sort of groups where you can somewhere press a text (ex "artists") or button and then see a list of the artists.

 

I think you need to explain your idea better OP.

 

However it sounds a bit.. meh.

That was fairly active when I joined the forums x3 I joined it and participated in it for a while before making my own request shop. And, yeah, that would require their own user groups, probably, something not too likely to happen x.x Making threads for specific groups in CR or elsewhere is always fine though.

It was? oh I have such a terrible memory It feels like it died ages ago..

 

Anyways I don't see this artist group thing as a good idea sadly, one of the reasons is because I could make 100 drawings with stick figures and then require a spot in the team. There wouldn't really be a border of what's art and what's not. 

 

..But maybe not..

Another thing could be to make yet anther field on the profile where every user can add things such as "artist, musician, etc." if they want. And then there's nothing more to it. ..Though you could say that in your "about me" or "interests"

I don't care much for that either though....
