Trap is a hybrid of hip hop/crunk and electronica (often dubstep). While dating back to the early 2000s, it recently has regained popularity.

Well technically it only became an electronic hybrid in the last couple of years, before that it was only Trap Rap and as said was a southern hip-hop thing (the trap being the ghetto).

 

This is one of the earliest track from the edm side of it and i love how that wut sample almost sound like rainbow dash

This is likely the tune that really set it off.

 

 

So far very little Trap in the brony community yet. I think a lot of people who were on the fence about dubstep actively hate trap.

Listened to Trap Lord the other day. My response is rather positive, but some of the tracks are completely forgettable. Also, some of the lyrics are cringe-worthy, even for the standards of Trap
