The Brony Chronicles

This is, by far, the best documentary made about the brony fandom. A very well made, and free of charge documentary that is amazing to say the least. Hats off to Saberspark and PaleoSteno for making this as awesome as it is. Here's the documentary:

I've been following the documentary since the project started, and it's great. I haven't seen John DeLancie's documentary, but I'm willing to bet this one is better. There were some things I took issue with like the whole "we're challenging social norms! Look at us! We're special for watching a pretty good show!" nonsense that I've heard a million times over that isn't true at all. But overall, I enjoyed it. 8/10 would watch again.

Y'know, I've been on this site for almost ten years and I've never had a proper signature. Ain't that something?

I just watched this. It kinda makes me appreciate how far I've stuck through in this fandom. Honestly I wouldn't have changed a single bit of it for the world. Saberspark really tells it how it is and I respect that. If only I had some friends willing to go to bronycon with me. I would seriously love to meet this guy. He's probably one of my favorite well known bronies right up there with dBPony and Solrac/Yaplap. I loved the intro too, it was very complex and entertaining. I'm looking forward to what else he's got to offer.

On the other hand, some people were telling me that certain members of DHX are leaving in reaction to so much of the hate recently which kinda sucks. They put a lot of effort to make Twilicorn a special thing and then everyone just calls it stupid. I really hope popularity doesn't give them a reason to end the show so quickly

I just saw it and loved every bit of it, of course some of the interviewed bronies I didn't agree with, overall presentation was solid and stuck to the point. Being the first part and being about the history though made it a tad boring for an internet historian such as myself. tongue.png

I witnessed the Almighty Moot slay masses with his powerful ban-hammer across the fields of 4chan. It was so horrible I was one of the disgusted members during the great war. I lost a number of friends online and in real life over that Great War. It wasn't until our Lord Moot flooded the world and created an Eden-like paradise known as /mlp/ in it's place that I began to show interest in the fandom. Good times were had during that war. Mods are asleep post ponies, GETS won't be banned, and the near-infinite attempts to try to make mods bronies. Let us remember this era once more.

I just recently finished watching the first part and I must say, this is by far the best documentary on bronies I have seen yet. So far it seems to be thorough, going in depth and covering nearly every aspect of how the fandom got its start. It also seems to be at least somewhat non-biased, giving facts rather than merely praising bronies. These are both things that the John de Lancie doc failed to accomplish. Another thing this doc has over the JDL one is that it's free. They could easily charge for something of this quality and I believe people would buy it, but they would rather release it for free so everyone can see it. I'm not saying the JDL doc is bad. It's great for bronies who are interested in seeing some of the real life aspects of the fandom, but I don't think it's very well suited for non-bronies. This one, on the other hand, is great for anyone interested in learning about the fandom, bronies and non-bronies alike.

Oh, and in case anyone missed it, MLP Forums was featured briefly at 0:49:47.
