What Are The Optimal Dimensions For A Profile Background?

I'd like to ask what are the optimal dimensions for a non-tiling background for your profile. I've tried to upload one of my wallpapers as a background, however it just centers at the bottom of the page and you can't actually see the design on it. I'd really appreciate if you could answer this question. Thank you all for your time!

Using the search feature, I've found this topic, in where Feld0 explains things fairly well. Here's the quote:
 

There is no limit on the dimensions your profile background can be. The background is centred and the forums are exactly 1000 pixels wide, so that's all you need to keep in mind.

Personally, I would recommend making a background that is at least 1920x1200 pixels wide, which should look decent on just about all common monitor resolutions.
