I actually don't have a problem with EV's and IV's. at least not any more =P it was a headache and 5/8, but I managed to figure them out

 

I don't know what each nature does off the top of my head but they are also not as confusing as they used to be

 

I was actually referring to some of the movesets used for competitive battling and some of the counters for pokemon don't make sense to me /=|

Oh, well I never did counters and stuff, I only really know some simple movesets so yeah , don't worry.

 

I don't know any of the natures off the top of my head, i know what they do though.

 

EV's and IV's aren't that terrible hard to get after a little.

 

But yeah, idk i'm not even a competitive battler at all xD. I just know some basics about it really in the grand scheme of it.

The thing about Ev's and Iv's though is that no one actually trains their Pokémon for competitive battling, it takes absolute ages to do. It's nearly impossible to have perfect Iv's along with proper natures. If you ever want to get into competitive Pokémon use pokegen to get the Pokémon you want just google it if you want to know more. Optionally you could use pokemon showdown a popular battle sim, the real games are used at tournaments but go to pokemon showdown if you're looking for activity. I find competitive battling to be extremely fun. There's not even that much of a catch to it, all you really need to know are the pokemon in each tier, what the pokemon you'll face in the tier can do, and the common team strats. There's also a ton of different ways you can play the game. You can use low or high accuracy moves, you can play with common or uncommon pokemon. I really suggest trying it out, just study up a bit at http://www.smogon.com/

There is actually only a decent amount of new things to learn about competitive battling, it's really only tiers, and common stratagies and how to counter them. You also have the choice of being risky or safe. Being the unpredictable underdog using uncommon pokemon, or be a generic dude who use politoed and ferrothorn like a religious practice. Another important aspect is to just know what the pokemon you're facing can do. I'm a big fan of competitive battling, and its not even that hard to do. I would recommend at least trying it it because Its just so dang fun to do.

 

Well EV training takes a while, of course it isn't impossible, i did EV train a team once before.

 

Perfect IV's are basically unrealistic, so yeah .

I did competitive battling a few battles, but then I kinda stopped playing pokemon so yeah.

I would say its the same concept as fine tuning a car. for the most part they're all identical but with with proper EV training, you can get different results with different movesets out of the same pokemon

Well in more casual battles EV training isn't really needed.

 

Now in competitive play, it can make a difference.

 

A fully Ev trained stat gets like 64 extra stat points(I believe around there) Then theres IV's which can add like 31 i believe max, and then natures(I forget the numbers on natures) so yeah you can get a good bit of difference in really.

 

Its not required for less competitive play, but in competitive play it really makes a difference. Especially when every bit counts.

That's why I never really bothered with the Global Battle Union in B/B2. I wouldn't say everyone does this--that's not true, but I've had my fair share. I prefer to play casually. I'm nutty enough to go into a battle with a clear disadvantage, but I love using strategy, not strength.

 

2 months to go! I can't wait! I know what I'm nicknaming my Chespin now--Cappy! I was thinking something like "Chipper" but it seems a bit common. That might change though...

Alright we got some more news, well its in mid translation, but its some.. interesting news.

According to my understanding, its apparently news about some pokemon getting "mega" forms or something. Mewtwo is apparently included with his awakened forum, so yeah, check out the first entry on the site(Atleast at the moment) and in the games department you'll see the pictures and other description

 

Anyways, according to this Mawile, blaziken, Absol, Mewtwo, lucario, and ampharos are all getting these new mega forms.

 

I am not convinced this is evolutions, and according to this the new megas have new ablity's, however Mawile is now Fairy/Steel, and Ampharos is now Electric Dragon, Mind you Mawile is Fairy/steel in both forms, but Ampharos isn't Electric/dragon

 

I'm calling them forms, because I doubt Amphraos would be getting a 4th evolution. Guess we might see clearer after the translation fully.

 

But the others apparently just get new abilities. As of what has been said so far.

 

Along with this, Gogoat has a new pre evolution named Meekuru, which is a grass type

 

We have a new electric fairy named Dedenne(Not sure if these are jappanese or English names) With a new cheek pouches able to get, unsure what it does right now.

 

Then we have some rabit named Horubii who also can have the new cheek pouches ability. Its normal type

 

Actually the end of the article says something about mega evolutions.

 

Its interesting, not sure my feelings on it, hopefully its not to much of a buff, and more of a form change, because otherwise it could kinda make the pokemon OP possibly. 

 

Some kind of new super training facility is mentioned, not sure what that could be.

 

Also a new charactor by the name Koruni is a gym leader who apparently has knowledge on the new "Mega evolutions" which apparently involves some new items and a mega stone?

 

Hopefully things become more clear when this is fully translated

Yeah mawile needs some buffs. thats for sure.

 

Maybe the mega evolutions will just redistrubte stats, sorta like Porygon Z and Porygon 2. But possibly in a way to make mawile better.

 

Of course the new typing already seems to make it pretty good. And ability, so who knows.

 

The others i'm not sure about, evolutions for blaziken with speed buff will throw him into uber tier easily. Just for the ablity, much less if he gets stat boosts so idk.

 

Mewtwo same way, well hes already in ubers, but any status buffs will make him crazy.

 

However, since "MegaMewtwo" is awakended mewtwo basically i'm thinking it'll be a form change, since the "Awakended mewtwo" has been a form change so far, so I assume the others who are all "Mega" in this translation might end up being called awakended, and it'll just be a form change.

 

But who knows, i personally think stat changes shouldn't be in these new evolutions, because it can make some of these kinda ridiculous, so i'm thinking it'll be more akin to forms.

 

And oh, i should've thought about that, no wonder there so hard to pronounce xD.

They look pretty cool I have to admit, could be quite interesting, again, i'm just concerned it'll throw a bunch of pokemon straight up into uber tier, or maybe even make it so they have to be banned like totally.

 

I mean if mewtwo gets anymore stats i think its safe to say he may become like legendary tier or something .

 

But yeah, Mega amphraos looks cool, and all the others look cool, long as its balanced i'm cool with it.

See, even without stat boosts the new mega pokemon are pretty crazy, which is why I think they're just ablities, and possibly typing changers.

 

I suppose we'll see, i'm still on with my theory its like forms.

 

Oh and ampharos will be in OU tier easy, just for mold breaker probably, atleast I can see it being pretty awesome.

 

Technically speaking electric dragon will give it more weaknesses, but dragon does give it some resists to, so idk. However no quad weaknesses i can think of right now, which is pretty powerful.

I'm so hyped right now, I'll end up suffering from withdrawal if this game doesn't come out soon enough. Mawile will now be the ultimate counter to any dragon type possibly having a quad resistance to dragon while being able to counter it with super effective moves, and not to mention freaking huge power. If mega mawile doesn't get any stat buffs with huge power, it will have 170 base attack, that's the second highest in the game people. Not to mention nothing checks lucario now, slowbro say your prayers. I also really love the design of mega absol, the new ability is awesome as well too bad absol is so frail.

Its coming out october, i'm hyped for it, but i'm retaining it so i don't explode . Plus i've been playing alot of other games(Currently training to beat the elite four in the rematch in HG, then going to fight red.) but yeah.

 

Mawile will be pretty awesome vs dragons, assuming fairy is resistant to dragon, and not just strong vs it.

 

And yeah, i think mawile will be pretty good, thinking about that. 

 

I like the designs of them all pretty much, just worried about them being balanced and stuff mostly.

My speculation for Cheek Pouches is that you can hold either two berries, or two items all together. If this is the case I'm assuming that it will only go to under powered pokemon because imagine a pokemon form OU with two items. It'd be crazy.

Thats a good speculation actually, maybe it'll let you reuse an item to or something, who knows, could be interesting to say the least.

It does seem sorta like its own thing, but honestly in a way it seems like a new way of evolution to me, sure it sounds complex, but still evolution.

Oh ok, this is interesting actually, so its a in battle type thing, that could also possibly mean it won't be usable competitively, depending on how it works exactly.

 

I was kinda skeptical of it at first, and i'm still not sure, but everything else with the game has been shaping up pretty well, so frankly I have faith they'll work it out well .

 

And besides, its freaking pokemon, i think its going to take alot to ruin the series for me frankly xD.

And here I thought my all time favorite Pokemon couldn't get any cooler. MegaBlaziken, you shall be mine! Hell, it even says there's going to be an event giving away a special Torchic holding something called a "Blazikenite". What that means I have no idea, but can't be anything but awesome.

 

Can't say the same about MegaLucario, though he's the only one of the six revealed designs that I don't like. Also, is it my imagination or does MegaAbsol have wings? Possibly gain the ability to learn flying moves maybe?
