What would you say to an EqG Visual Novel?

So basically, I was doing a bit of thought about EqG lately and I was wondering... What if we made an Equestria Girls visual novel? 

The idea I have for a story is a bit generic at the moment: Male protagonist goes to same school as the  Mane 6, meets each of them, ends up falling in love with one of them depending on the choices made in game.

 

Now, I haven't seen Equestria Girls but I'm intending for the VN to be set after the movie. The final ideas for the VN may change depending on whether or not I decide to keep it at least a little bit canon-compliant.

 

Since I haven't seen the movie, I'm assuming Twilight went back to the ponyverse at or after the end, but from what I've heard it's implied that she has a human-world counterpart. It may have to be this counterpart that we feature in the VN.

 

As for Flash Sentry... I'm really not sure if he should be in it or not. I think if he was it'd make it a little more canon-friendly but in any case, it's up for debate.

 

So, what do you guys think? Should we do this or is it a bad idea that should be destroyed before it breeds?

Sounds nice to me. Visual novel can be said as the easiest form of games to make, so a simple visual novel project seems realistic enough. There's another guy who's working on one. Meet . :3

Since most of these games are just elaborate  masturbation aids, I'm gonna say no.

If you actually had an adventure-ish story in mind, I cannot conceive why you'd set it in the human world instead of Equestria.

That is a rather interesting point. The basic idea I was going for was the sort of typical visual-novel plot, but while you say that most of them are elaborate masturbation aids, I was going more for a safe-for-work approach to the whole plot (i.e. no random sex scenes like in most visual novels) and also having more of a plot to it than just "protagonist falls in love with one of 6 girls, sex scenes every 5 minutes, end of".

It'd take a lot of practice to get used to Ren'Py, but seeing as it was the program Four Leaf Studios used to make Katawa Shoujo, it seems like the perfect tool to make a visual novel with

I think you could do it like Katawa Shoujo. While it did have sex sceens, there were options to censor it and also the stories were really touching and done well, and the sex sceens felt natural pace wise and they werent there to satisfy fetishes, they were there so it could feel like a normal high school romance.

You're an absolute genius, because that's exactly what I was trying to say but couldn't find the words for! I was intending to make it like Katawa Shoujo, only perhaps minus the sex scenes (I mean, it's a spinoff of My Little Pony!), with the focus mainly on the plot as opposed the the romance.

Well thank you xD Well yeah i don't think the VN will really needs sex sceens( we have banned from Equestria (daily) for that ),  i really look forward to seeing how this is going to turn out. Im really into visual novels and MLP so it'll be the best of both worlds

Even though this is kinda... de-motivational, I have to admit that I agree. Japanese People usually rely on the sack scenes to give power to the game.

 

Play with the storyline and nice graphic, or just let the game digs its own grave. Visual novel is easy to make, but that doesn't make it a formidable game.
