The 4th of July: Americas 2,013th Birthday? *pukes*

Protip: Always give someone the benefit of the doubt and assume they are trolling before you automatically come to the conclusion that they are blindingly stupid, especially when it's on the internet.

It assures that you won't like like an idiot yourself if it does turn out to be trolling, and if the person really is that dumb, the worst that will happen is that you'll appear to be condescending.

I see things like this happen far too often on here, with amount of fake fandom drama that goes on.

Thank you very much Bluetrace. This was the idea I was stressing from the start. You are completely right about the people who are making themselves look like idiots.

It's really quite funny, seeing people make these smartass comments, when from the beginning they were the foolish ones, coming to quick conclusions and making dramatic generalizations.

If America isn't 2,013 years old, then why is it 2,013? Huh? HUH? Answer me that, slick!

Kidding, of course! The dude who America was named after didn't even exist back then. Neither did any closely related relatives! People just need a good punch in the smartness gland. Maybe with enough force, it'd kick it into gear!

Oh wow.  Just freaking wow.  I've been laughing my ass of for about the past 10 minutes.  This is ridiculous.

While I'm American, I don't really celebrate 4th of July.  I say Happy 4th to everyone, but I just can't find it in me to go light off fireworks.

Please, just please, keep your cats and dogs inside tonight.  The 4th of July is one of the night of the year with the highest rate of lost animals.  Four years ago, my beloved cat, Ozzy, got out and did not return to us.  If you are inside, play something loud like music or a movie to drown out the fireworks.  The sudden bursts of noise scare your animals.  We've had to keep our other cats calmed down all week with people already blasting off fireworks.

Just please, keep your pets inside tonight.

If I lived in America I would celebrate like mad, any excuse to light things on fire and set off explosions! :D

(Side note, being English, would it be odd for me to celebrate 4th of July? :P)

I dunno if I can believe this.. Oh wait actually i've seen people this stupid... nevermind...

Seriously, i'm not even of that high intelligence at all, yet I even know that 4th of july is the celebration of the separation of America from Great Britian...

Besides, the actual continent is probably alot older then 2013 years old... But anyways.

Happy 4th anyways guys.

I'm Australian, and even I know that the 4th of July was the date the Declaration of Independence was signed, yet I have had to facehoof with my cousin who is in America, her comment was "Happy birthday America".. Now to be fair, she isn't a REAL America, as in she wasn't born in America, my aunt, uncle and cousins moved to America when I was little.. and in effect, when my cousin was little too

but still... You've lived in America for what, like 20 years or something... you should know by now!!

By the way, my last post ^ was in no way meant to be inflammatory, especially towards my cousin, I LOVE my family... but... for someone who works in the courts and for someone who is far more intelligent than I am, (I am really stupid/idiotic/moronic), and when i say far more intelligent, i mean FAAAAAAR more, you would think you would know the history of the country you're living in and such....

No one cares about America.

All anyone cares about is Canada! Did you see all those statuses saying Happy Canada Day a few days back?

...yeah, neither did I.

Michelle Creber, the voice actor for Applebloom, posted a "Happy Canada Day" video a few days ago, while the 2014th Canada Day was still passing...

I don't know what everyone is arguing aboot. We don't have these problems in Canada, eh?

flag_canadian_maple_leaf.jpg

Listen. History is a something you should learn for your own country. It's called respecting your own country in my terms. Consider the people who died for example for your freedom and independence. We can't shove history in someone's face if they do not enjoy the topic. I mean there's many people who find history boring. It's not their thing... leave em' alone. They'll just suffer when they're are questioned basic history knowledge. They'll probably feel really stupid if they get their basic nations history wrong. Talk about embarrassing~

Wait a minute.  Let me get this straight.  To celebrate our independence, her blow shit up, roast tons of poor little animals on the grill, and get drunk!?  What kind of nation is this?

All countries are different on how they celebrate their traditions. We don't have to cut down another country because they have different norms than your country or different beliefs.

I'm Canadian, and even I knew what "Independence Day" is for! It's the day Aliens invaded the US and the world!

Ah, the fourth of July. Independence Day, for good ol' Murica, two thousand and thirteen years ago...

Wait a minute...

You mean Murica wasn't around 2013 years ago? When the Roman Empire was just getting into full swing? When Jesus was first born? When people still thought the Earth was flat and that the sun revolved around the Earth??

I'm sorry you guys not from the United States had to see that idiocy shown in the OP. I'd like to think that we're smarter than that on these boards, at least. Though, I did laugh really hard for a good long time. These pictures will sum up my feelings pretty well...

Moving on, I did enjoy the part on Fox 5 news at 6 today when the news anchor said "There's a lot of people out in the National Mall already - just goes to show that people really enjoy watching explosions."

I was just like, "THAT'S TOTALLY RIGHT!" Explosions were what got me into chemistry in the first place, after all.

I also enjoyed the "MUH FREEDOMS" emblazoned on the banners on fimfiction today.

I'm American.  I'm shooting down my own country's beliefs and customs.  Shouldn't we have a bit of respect for our country.

Those are also known as "Fireworks", dude.
That is suppose to be called "outdoor barbecue", man.

That, my friend, only happens to those who drink too much. There are some people who know their limits.

Lolgeturshitrite

Excuse me.  You act like I'm stupid but I've spent several 4ths with my parents drinking, getting someone burnt with fireworks, and on one year, running around the backyard with a flaming pickle jar.  I think I know what the hell I'm talking about.  And abotu the barbecue, I'm a bucking vegetarian.

Wow, those people are crazy! Everybody knows America was founded 1,776 years ago. The History Channel says that number all the time.

Lol, Le Revolution ohohohohoh "let them eat cake". "Off with their head".

I don't know why but I felt like bringing up the French Revolution for some reason. Same time period, it's not too unrelated.

Sort of, except Marie Antoinette never said "let them eat cake" and some Americans did say "happy 2,013th b-day Amurrka." ;)

'Murrica. Founded by Jesus himself, apparently.

I can only make a joke of this... People can't actually be that ignorant. They can be and are really ignorant on the founding principals of the country, but they can't be that bad.

I did celebrate it.  After our cat got out, we just celebrated away from home.  After two years of that, we just don't celebrate anymore.

Well, my last post was deleted due to not being on-ññtopic, so now (just to be on-topic):

I think that this is something that happens in every country. Here in El Salvador there are lots of people that don't know about the guys who made independence possible. They also don't know the national anthem and more stuff. Even worst, they simply don't CARE about it.

It makes me sad to see so much people that don't know something as basic as that. I don't want 'em to tell me specifically how many years have passed since independance was achieved, but at least an estimate.

The worst part? They DON'T KNOW THAT AMERICA WAS FOUNDED BY HUMANS. I saw some people saying that America was created by God. Seriously, GOD?! mellow.png Sometimes people has to let go religion. I mean, it's ok if they believe in God, but what does he have to do with independancy day?

Interestingly enough, we went from berating, what we thought, was other people's stupidity, to discussing how we celebrate Independence Day, to religion.

It's prolly the "one nation under god" bit in the pledge of allegiance that gets to them. It gives the false impression that the US is indeed a religious country despite its foundation as a secular country where freedom of religion is encouraged (tho some people stupidly confuse that with freedom of Christianity due to the US being a Christian nation and anything else is a threat to that freedom). After 70 years, the Red Scare is still a thing even tho Communist Russia is all but a thing of the past. And some people even think there's no difference between that and Social Democracy for some reason :tomasulk

Eenope. God created Earth and universe, according to chrstianity. The concept and foundation of United States of America (America is the whole continent, but I have to acknowledge that I didn't clarify that on my previous comment) was made by humans.

You can still say U.S.A. exists because God created Earth, but that also means that China, El Salvador, México, India, Africa, Saudi Arabia, Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, U.K., etc. exists also because of God. Now, again, THIS DOESN'T HAVE TO DO WITH RELIGION. You celebrate independecy because it's important to remember that people fought for freedom, both theirs and yours. Can you thank God for freedom? Of course, depending on your beliefs, but please remember that you're celebrating independecy.

Relax, man. I knew what you were trying to say before. XD

You're saying that God didn't politically create the United States. Which, you're right, knowing about the founding fathers and all... I was just playing with your mind by saying God physically created America. But I wasn't serious about that at all. :P

Now... Just to stay on topic: I seriously think that it is sad that people don't know at least the aprox. amount of years that USA has been an independent country. But this happens worldwide (in my country all the time). I just think people don't care about this anymore :/

I acknowledged that you may be American. That's why I said, "or different beliefs." I'm quite aware that some people don't like their own country and are bothered by how it's managed. I admit I could see some better changes in Canada in making it a better country.

There will always be problems in any country. What can you do to fix it? Would you even consider making change to it, or move somewhere else where you appreciate another countries laws, culture, lifestyle, ect. better?

I acquiesce that I need to do something later when I reach a certain seniority to help my own country reach it's greatest potential.
