For those of you who don't know, I'm a bit of an Avatar fan. And by that, I mean massive huge fanboy.

So when I saw the trailer for Book 2 of Korra, things happened in my head.

I suppose you could say that I'm excited.

When I saw that trailer, I was just like wow. The art and style look amazing and I am excited for the storyline and how it progresses Korra. The Spirit World looks very interesting.

Woah, it's been so long since Book 1. I liked the original show already and when I first heard that they're gonna make a sequel, I was very happy to hear that. I hope things will be epic... But, come on, it's Korra, it WILL be epic.

Hmm the trailer is pretty but Korra was a huge disappointment to me as a fan of the original series. I felt they made a lot of the characters unlikable (especially Mako) and weren't sure exactly what they were doing with it. I am especially bitter about the treatment of Asami who did nothing wrong and yet was cheated on and dumped on by Mako and Korra. Just gross.

If I watch it for anyone it will be Asami as I think she is the most interesting character. Her and Lin.

When I started watching Korra I had a few issues as well. I won't go into too much detail as to why, but I got more into as it progressed. I actually didn't like season 1 of TLA at all, and gave up on it for a while. However season 2 and 3 blew me away. I definitely enjoyed season 1 of Korra more then season 1 of TLA, so if Korra does improve with it's seasons like TLA did... I'm sure we'll be in for a ride.

What I can say from the new trailer is that they're really pushing it visually, and the as with the first season, the animation is incredible for a television show.

Hmm I see your point. I wasn't overly fond of season 1 of the original either but I've found on rewatches I like it more and more. Korra though...I just seemed to hate it more the 2nd time I watched it.

I think the 1st season of the original isn't so much a plot builder but a world builder which can make it seem dull the first time. When you watch it again though it tends to get appreciated more.

Korra is just a mess to me.

Korra is kinda messy at times, I agree, but they only had 12 episodes to work with, and in that time they had to introduce a lot of characters and explain the world along with some history, so I can kinda look over that.

Honestly though, my real issue was the poorly executed and very forced Steampunk elements. If you're gonna do Steampunk, do it properly.

Go home, Xanatos. You're drunk.

Anyway, yeah Korra wasn't nearly as good as TLA (which was fucking amazing), but I still enjoyed it. Story was weak, but they didn't have a lot of time to squeeze in everything they wanted to. Korra is only supposed to be 2 seasons long, and IIRC, the seasons have less episodes than TLA seasons had. The animation, acting, and figt choreography was still great :)

Yeah the movie was crap.

But, so exited for Jinora to be a big part of the show now, as it looks like. Although, from the trailer, I'm afraid that she's dead, and that would make me cry for weeks.

Also, I'm really glad it's in September. 2 months until the new season!

Actually, I'm pretty sure that Korra was only supposed to have that first season. And I actually thought the story was pretty good and very interesting, if a little rushed and messy at times. The way they brought back energy and blood bending was kinda disturbing and almost frighting at times.

Ok. Allow me to enter fangirl moment for a minute.

OMG DID YOU SEE UNALAQ DOING WATERBENDING FORMS AND FIGHTING THAT FIREBENDER WITH THAT BADASS LOOK ON HIS FACE LIKE "YOU'RE GOING DOWN BITCH!"????

THE NORTHERN WATER TRIBE LOOKS SOOOO MUCH BETTER NOW I CANT WAIT TO SEE MORE OF THAT!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA ITS THE FIRST AVATAR! WE'RE GONNA SEE THE BEGINNING OF EVERYTHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSS

ICE AND WATER SKATING!!!!!!

WAN SHI TONGS LIBRARY HOLY CRAP WE'RE GONNA SEE WAN SHI TONG AGAIN AFTER ALL!!!!!!! OMGOMG

BOLINS GOT SOME MOVES!!! HE CLEARLY LEARNED THE ART OF FAB POSE!!!!

WAN GOING AVATAR STATE!!! AAAAAAAAA

Yes, that's how excited I am for this. Avatar's been my favorite series for over a year and still is, and the wait's been far too long. I'm glad we finally know when it's coming out.

I agree with this. Book 1 of TLA is pretty bad compared to the subsequent books. On its own, it's not terrible, but it's more like a series of one-shot stories involving the characters, some being relevant to the plot even to a minor degree, some being an utter waste of time. A lot of book 1's secondary characters are also s unlikable as you can get. Don't even get me started on Haru. But then you get to book 2 and everything that's brilliant about the series starts to show. Book 1 of Korra was a lot more likable than book 1 of TLA, and the setting was explained in more detail by comparison. Many of its characters were also more relatable which is what got me into it at all.

And yeah, I saw the trailer yesterday.  Pretty epic stuff!  Hope there's some awesome fight scenes in the next season!
Still a little confused.  Shouldn't Tarlok be dead?

He is. He wasn't in the trailer. I think you're confusing him either with Unalaq (Chief of the Northern Water Tribe) or Tonlaq (Korra's dad). But perhaps I'm wrong and he did appear, tho I can guess where he did and it was most likely his spiritual form. Judging from the trailer, there's going to be a lot of journeying through the spirit world.

Hm..  Maybe you're right.  It kind of sucks that he Killed Amon.  I wish Amon wasn't revealed and carried on into the next season.  He was like the most bad ass villain.

Agreed. That's the other reason book 1 of Korra beats book 1 of TLA. Amon was by far the best villain in the series. Ozai's a chump compared to Amon. And in a matchup, Ozai wouldn't beat Amon even with Sozin's comet. Unlimited Bloodbending gg.

Wait.  Why the hell was Tarlok not able to bloodbend Amon?  That's another thing I never understood about the series.  Was he just special?

Tarlok can bloodbend anytime. Amon simply countered it with his own bloodbending by bloodbending himself, stopping Tarlok from doing so as a result.

I love the avatar series, and I was dying to see more of Aang when Korra first came up. I enjoy the setting very much. Metal bending, and a reference to what happened to the world of martial art back then, when Western boxing came to Asia. Actually I hate what happened in the real history during that time, but seeing how boxing and traditional martial art are combined in the movie made me glad.

Korra's kinda disappointing though. Already mastering three elements when the movie started. I mean, what else she could fight for in the movie? Then Amon showed up. Interesting. Banishing bending abilities. Keep watching. Blood bender? Interesting, even though a kind of overpowered. Then Korra lost her bending. I was SOOOOOOOOOOO excited at that moment. I saw some possibilities of how the story could continue. She could spend the next books trying to relearn bending, etc. It wouldn't be so bad, but yeah, Aang showed up (which really pleased me) and restored her bending. What? Is that all? I mean, what would you do with the second book? The third?

I'm still waiting for Book 2 though.

I instantly liked Korra when it first came on. It looks beautiful for a start and it had less silly humour in it which is a plus for me. And as much as I liked the original, I never really liked the character of Aang, perhaps because he was the source of all the silly.

We've already seen Aang learning the elements... sitting through it all again would be kind of tedious. There's tons of other stories you can tell with the avatar aside from learning all the elements, and I think that's partly what they're trying to do with Korra.

Yet, the book ended without any clue about what will happen next, or at least something which makes us wonder and curious. In ATLA, every book has strong endings. We can have many interesting conflicts if Korra isn't so great and talented. Aang's story is interesting because he needed to learn the elements during a great war, and other conflicts. There's no such war in Korra. Amon was interesting, but I got disappointed when he simply died and Korra got her bending back immediately. It's just my personal opinion that Korra isn't as challenging as ATLA.
