Note: Since people have been asking when this will start....Well I don't know it all depends on how many people join. But I'll make sure everyone has time to do this if they do join.

 

I've had this idea in my head for quite a while. In fact I even tried this twice before but you know what they say, third time's the charm right? Anyway this is going to be a very very basic OU tournament using the 5th generation Pokemon games.

 

Rules:

1. No "Uber" Pokemon AKA Pokemon deemed too strong and thus banned from most competitive play. A full list of Pokemon in the Uber tier can be found here. http://www.smogon.com/bw/tiers/uber

 

2. As stated above we will be using the 5th Gen Pokemon games for this. So basically you need either, Black, White, Black 2, or White 2 in order to participate.

 

3. All Pokemon must be EV trained and at level 100. If you don't have access to these Pokemon then you can use this to create them. http://projectpokemon.org/pokegen/  Also I've found that the easiest way to transfer Pokemon created by PokeGen to your games is to use this. http://www.pokegts.us/Default.aspx

 

4. There are 10 slots as of now. If this gets more attention then I'll raise the number.

 

5. When battling make sure you set the rules to "No Restrictions" with the Wonder Launcher off.

 

 

If you need help with PokeGen or something then PM me or just look on YouTube as there are plenty of tutorials. Also, it is highly recommended that you use http://www.smogon.com/ to help you create your team if you aren't very good with this stuff.

I wanna join this so bad, but I lost my Pokemon Black... When is this going to start? Cause I think I'll join if I can find my game in time.

You know i might enter the tourney, of course I haven't done any competitive pokemon battling in a while, and i really haven't totally finished G5 yet, but i'm almost done with white, i'll move onto Black 2 later, but regardless.

 

Of course I don't have any teams setup, so i'd probably have to do that. I've never used Pokegen honestly, I assume there isn't any issues with it corrupting save files or something? Because it'd kinda suck to lose my data on White right now if I use it to battle and make a team.

 

Of course I also have no for sure idea if i can join and participate or not, seeing as I don't know exactly what the time frame of it'll be, I may end up busy or get busy on short notice so idk.

 

But i'd like to participate possibly, I'll have to see about some stuff for sure I guess before I do. I don't wanna join and end up busy for a battle or something, or just not be able to participate(I have to beat the story for white before I can really battle, so i've got a little bit of work to do there.)

 

I'll try to get myself into this, especially since it'll be fun, even if i don't know much about competitive battling and probably won't do that great.

I've never, ever, EVER, battled competitively but this is an interesting idea. Unfortunately, I don't know if I'll be able to access the wifi with my DS in a couple weeks. Unless this starts really soon, I probably won't be able to participate.

I've used pokegen plenty, no corrupted save files. You should be fine... I think...

Don't worry about that. I haven't actually done much of this myself past going to Pokemon Online every once and a while. Again if you need help Smogon is a great place to get it.

Haha, I think I might join in and blow some of the dust off my bones. My battle style is pretty outdated though, I used to playcompetitively through the third generation and I don't really know much about entry hazards beyond skarmory. Hopefully this fits within my work schedule.

Ive used pokegen before and its pretty safe, especially now that you can upload your pokemon onto those special GTS sites. I used to use an action replay to input those codes, but the method above is a lot safer. The worst that can go wrong really is that your wifi connection closes because you didn't follow the instructions right...

 

To make your pokemon even more legit looking for anyone here, i would recommend going to pokecheck.org and use it to your advantage. It really gives you a good idea how a legit magikarp should look. (My team fools it at any rate... )

 

It also tells you your secret ID without needing to access an action replay, which is invaluable information for those that want to make their pokemon look as real as possible.

Ok I've beat my pokemon White and have my national pokedex, so now all i have to do is think of some ideas for competitive teams and stuff and then also figure out how to use this pokegen thing. .

Congratulations! How hard of a time did you have against ghetsis? It took me quite a while the first time I went through black version. Well, not as long as red, but he was very annoying.

Thanks , and well he was pretty hard actually, well the hardest was really hydregion, because i didn't have any ice moves, so i just kinda had to use a lot of hyper potions, i used zekrom in the final fight to, because its just awesome using him in the fight, especially with the special animation when vsing N's reshiram. So yeah, i relied on Zekrom a bit along with hyper potions, but i didn't lose any times.

 

Red i still haven't done on HG yet, but i did fight him back in crystal years ago, i had a really over leveled typholition which I trained a ton, but he was still quite hard. He has crazy levels...

 

I kinda wish pokegen only allowed me to make legit pokemon, but i have bulbapedia and stuff to check which moves and stuff that are valid, so i don't mistakenly make non legit stuff .

 

Still not sure how i transfer these over.. guess i'll see.

When exactly is this going to go down as in order for me to get more pokemon for such a thing (if I even want/need anymore than I have) I'll need to get another AR (because Ive never touched pokegen and would rather just keep it simple for me, but i'll also probably look at it just in case I cant get another).

Well i've never touched pokegen before either, i use to use AR for making competitive teams, however for this i don't have one anymore, so i guess i've gotta learn pokegen .

It's pretty much the same idea as pokecheck except you receive custom pokemon instead of uploading them to check their legality.

I see, ok well i'll try and do this method, i'm sorta getting it to work, hopefully i don't run into any problems or anything. 

 

I've used AR before, so i guess if this is safer then I really shouldn't be worried, i'm just more use to AR .

I'm a bit paranoid when it comes to cheating devices, mainly because of the gameboy colour gameshark screwing me over time and time again back in the pokemon red/blue days. I even bought a mega memory card to backup my saves because of how frequently it got deleted.

 

It still has my old pokemon blue save on it. Very useful when I operated on it to replace the internal battery!

Eh, i never had any issues really, well except some bugs that glitched out and crashed my game xD.

Yeah, it would be more accessible if everyone just used pokemon online but I'd prefer using the actual game's wifi if possible because it looks better.
