Yeah, it would be more accessible if everyone just used pokemon online but I'd prefer using the actual game's wifi if possible because it looks better.

 

Im ok with using PO, my only question is: Can you put your actual pokemon from your games into it? Ya know, to avoid the whole maxed/perfect pokemon. Nope, sadly you can't directly transfer your old pokemon to these simulators. It's a third party program and it would be... well, a bit difficult to impliment that kind of thing.

Like I said Pokegen is there if you need usable Pokemon for this. Also if you have the Pal Pad then you can find your friend code through that.

~Just one thing... it would be easier to make this using pokemon online.

The reason I'm not using something like Pokemon Online or Pokemon Showdown is mainly because the games looks better and my computer is rather wonky as of late so that stuff lags for me. 

 

Also we are almost at 10 participants meaning this thing should be starting soon. Once it does I'll PM everyone with the bracket and whatnot. In fact I may just give this until the end of the week before just stating it without 10 people.

I seem to have spawned another question i need answering. Are we only able to use those from the OU tier or can we also use ones from lower tiers? Ive never quite understood the tiers myself and how exactly they work.

I can provide a bit of exposition on this one.

 

The tier system is mostly to keep stronger pokemon out of lower tiers. For instance, in an underused tournament, pokemon in the overused category and higher would be banned. Ubers (legendaries and downright broken pokemon) are pretty much banned from the metagame except for an ubers tournament.

 

So yes, you could use UU pokemon in an OU tournament. It might work in your favour if you find one heck of a moveset and stat combination, but the problem is that many of the pokemon in the UU tier are there because they are simply outclassed by better things.

Aah, ok. Id already looked at the tiers beforehand (a while ago and just today) and it now makes sense. I might rethink my team idea since they shall be outclassed, but i also feel confident enough since ive run them somewhat often. Eh, ill think on it.

I thought about rethinking my team and using pure OU, but eh, the OU tier list is kinda... limiting to me. Not enough pokemon I felt like using together . So I don't have a pure OU team. 

 

Sure, i may gimp my chances of winning, but eh, i don't know how big my chances are anyways xD.

It really is limiting, isn't it. That's my problem with it as well. Shouldn't be too hard to make a new team using it, but eh, id rather stick with the ones ive grown to love. x)

I know the feeling... I love the pokemon from gen 3 and earlier (miiight be a pretty big spoiler for my team), but the day of OU for many of those guys is over. Good old dodrio was amazing back in the day, my second aerodactyl and the lead on my mono-flying team. Flygon was pretty amazing on my mono-ground as well, but now he's in the depths of UU.

 

Numerically, there are nearly the same number in OU now as in gen 3, but not nearly as many that I grew up with and loved.

I like pokemon from all the gens, so its not technically that(Although I am not totally versed in knowledge with Gen 5 pokemon, but i still like alot of them.) I guess I just felt like using certain pokemon idk , some i'm just more knowledgeable about.

 

I haven't done competitive battling much at all, I made like 1-2 teams I think for competitive battling, but then my interest in it sorta faded, maybe i'll get back into it some who knows.

 

I do think my lacking experience for competitive play may leave me to lose, but I suppose the best way to learn is defeat anyways .

 

Regardless, hopefully it will be an enjoyable experience.

Emulators to my knowledge do not work when it comes to wireless communication, so even emulator to emulator i don't believe you can use it. 

 

Especially since wifi can't really be setup on an emulator to my knowledge.

Yeah, i'm not saying it will, but if something happens i'd be up to battle you just for the heck of it, i mean competitive battling can be fun regardless, so i wouldn't mind it.

Oh, well frankly i don't know alot about emulators, but generally speaking since it isn't a legit copy of the game i'm sure there will be some difficulty's. Doesn't seem logically possible to me. Atleast to connect to a DS via emulator.
