Yeah it sucks. But hey. As long as the Microsoft Monopoly is happening, there are pretty much no viruses on Linux. So there's that. When more people use an OS there are more viruses for it. The most popular OS is where all the credit cards are, ya know?

Anyway I just realized there are fragments and hints of the old OS still there so a simple wipe doesn't do. What I really wanted was a nuke. That may explain why it took 5 minutes to reinstall it and why I didn't have to reactivate my key by actually calling Microsoft and punching in a bunch of numbers there. So yeah. Here we go. Time to have fun.

Well I found a program that looks very much like an OS but it can run entirely from RAM called Parted Magic. And it works with SSD's. I guess SSD's are that much different from HDD's that you can't nuke them in the same way. So anyway I'm doing yet another fresh install of Windows 8. And this is taking longer. Like I expected. I didn't want any remnant of the old OS remaining. 

I'll nuke my hard drives when I have a little more time because those will take a little longer than my SSD took to nuke. I'll probably need at least 2 hours for that...But at least it only took 32 seconds to nuke my SSD

 

In the meantime...

 

*considers installing Skyrim on SSD to get blazing fast load times*

Of course it can't be easy lol Lots of activation issues but now I've finally got it running to a point where I can quit for the night. My issues with activation were because for some reason it thought my installation was an upgrade rather than a clean install. And no. I never had Windows 7 on that desktop. When I finished my build it was a clean install. So that wasn't the issue. There's a workaround for that using the Registry Editor so everything turned out okay. 

 

Just need to install a few updates and then I can see if I can put 8.1 on it. Or not. If I can't, I'm okay with that. I'll just download my essentials (AVG, iTunes, Steam) and then start the long process of downloading all my games. 

 

It'll probably take a week of nonstop downloading to do that.
