Howard Stern interviews from BronyCon 2013

I find it absolutely amazing that the media allows bullying and such to be an actual job.

SARCASM!!

But anyhow, I guess I can't say anything about it, because he insults for the lulz, and I like that kind of humour. However, his show isn't even funny to begin with.

And by the way, my main issue with this is that somewhere, there are people who actually believe everything he says, unfortunately. :c

Howard Stern sent one of his minions to BronyCon again this year, with predictable results:

There's a lot of funny shit in there, although almost all of the people interviewed appear to be incredibly naive, and utterly lacking any concept of "TMI".

EDITED to fix the link.

ehh, I thought you pasted a wrong link because it send me to a video called Chobits opening HD or something, I don't want to think that you made a troll thread considering your longevity on this forums, so I think you have to edit your post with the correct video

Yeah, wrong link there. It does remind me that I need to watch that anime, but still, go ahead and edit your post, if you don't mind to.

Yeah, looks like it was the wrong link.  This should be the right one:

That other clip was supposed to go in another thread, but now I've forgotten which one, so oh well.

Not sure if I should watch this; I probably won't. It's Stern, and Stern has to shake things up. I don't begrudge him for that; it's how he built his media kingdom after all. I just hope that my favorite comedian/podcaster doesn't start ripping on bronies. It would make it hard for me to enjoy his stuff then.

"the guys that beat off to my little pony are called cloppers, that what y'all need to know"

He broke a new record, not even a minute has passed since the beginning of the video and he already started causing a big shitstorm about bronies. I'm pretty sure that the remaining 14 minutes that I have yet to listen (if my guts allow me) won't mention any of the charity donations that we make.

Wish me luck *throws up*

I don't really know anything about Howard, so I clicked on the video thinking it would be somethiing positive >_>

I didn't and will not be watching the rest of the video. After hearing loser loser con and after a few minutues of the group talking about porn and apparently how no bronies have hygiene I couldn't take it anymore.

Now I have to watch a few episodes of mlp to cheer myself up ;)

well I listened to the whole thing, and I can see that Howard Stern is a complete dick. And I'm starting to believe that the footage that he have got is fake because who would respond to a "what's your impression of a [insert adjetive here] pony?" with obnoxious horse noises if we already now that the ponies in the show actually do talk, and actually do not make horse noises (on the most part)

if the footage is legit then I can't facepalm enough for the kind of people that his reporter got to interview. What bothers me is how he twists the concepts, and only focus to makes us all seem like overweight, smelly and unnatractive losers that only clops to ponies and don't have a social live while we live at our parents. It's not fair how he uses his fame to put us down.

we have to do something! I have something in mind but I'm unsure about it :S

My mom said that he is a brony... -_- then she started reading again. ^_^

Most of my ideas sound a little... weird.

-wear shirts that contain ponies near him in large numbers.

-send him mlp dvds or something

-random mlp email (containing a random mlp picture, not being sarcastic, just a random pony picture)

-omg I know! send him Luna game! (which I have not played)

(sarcasm, I am not doing any of that to him as it will not get us anywhere)

Or probably like it has been said before with other things in the past; try our best to ignore it.

I too would make fun of such people in their interview samples. Responding to such questions itself is something completely absurd.

I doubt it's fake, but certainly they only selected certain clips to share to mock bronies. It wasn't really all that bad, though. Robin was making fun of them more so than Howard, overall.

Howard also just isn't going to care if he upsets bronies. He only cares about providing entertainment to his listeners, so he can maintain his fanbase and keep the money rolling in. For all we know, he could be supportive of the bronies that are more "normal" according to society's view, but he's not going to show that, because it doesn't matter. He only squeezed in that bit about BronyCon because of entertainment purposes. His listeners aren't going to be entertained with "I don't agree with this, but I'm also not going to say anything negative about it." The mocking of others is and always will be something that entertains others. That is why shows such as South Park and Family Guy are popular amongst people. And yes, I know it's a bit different in those cases, because it's less serious, but that's not the point I'm going after.

The only thing I can say is "get over it." It's stupid to even get upset over such a thing.

Where you seek the devil is where you will find him. I feel that is the case with Stern and Bronies. I listened to this clip last week and there was a lot of focus on the negative aspects of Bronies. All I can say is people are dumb and deaf. When a loud, ignorant voice speaks, they listen hard. People fear and mock what they do not understand, myself being one of them until I looked into the whole brony culture. (read: The accidental Brony in the welcoming plaza). I didn't get worked up over this and don't think anyone should. I don't follow Howard Stern but I know he can be controversial, it's kinda his thing. Relax and enjoy your MLP people!

Howard stern is the one person that deserves to have his ass kicked royally.  Maybe one day he'll run into a group of pissed off bronies who will teach him not to emphasize things that aren't true about the entirety of a fan-group (I hate the word fandom).

Least favorite person alive probably.  He's such a dick.

While I can empathize with you point of view on this topic, but really he's just doing his job, doesn't matter if his job his is being a professional dick. Anyway's I realize that it's hard not to take it personally, but we as a group can't take it personally. If all we do is complain and act bunch of angry children is that really going to help people take us seriously. We as a group need come at this from a mature perspective, and help people understand who we are not insult people who think badly of us. Just as a final note of emphasis, look at how many people who initially thought they would hate show turned out loving, I'm one of those people. We as a group can do so much more if we try to rid ourselves of this stereotype through passive means rather than aggressive ones.

Well I watched about 4-5 minutes of it, and I can't listen anymore. I'm incredibly pissed off right now. Those people are clearly very ignorant about the show. Fuck those people, seriously.

I respectfully disagree.  While a more calm, and seemingly mature approach would be valuable in certain situations, I would have to state that this is not one of them.  If we sit back and let stern be a dick, or if we calmly try to explain to others (fluttershy style) that he is wrong, nobody is going to listen.  Why?  Because we are greatly in the minority.

A not so extremist, however grand, well organized and largely publicized response seems like the best option to me.  We have to have confidence and assertiveness when dealing with Stern.

Now don't get me wrong I was absolutely disgusted with the video, but my concern is how we are going about this. As a group we have already devolved over the course of this thread to discussing about assaulting this man. We as a group can be assertive without coming across as blood-crazed pony fans. If we come about it from a viewpoint so similar to his are we really any better then him. As Nietzsche stated "He who fights monsters should see to it that he himself does not become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you". This is currently a narrow chasm we tread upon, and I don't want to see such a part of life that I get so much enjoyment out of to fall down said chasm.

This is pretty much the radio equivalent of middle school.

Seriously, watch it again and tell me you don't hear a bunch of insecure kids talking about anything the cool kids aren't into.

It's sort of ironic how they use the term "loser" when I can literally tell by their speech patterns and attitudes that they were pretty low on the popularity ladder in high school and are still a little butthurt, to the point of talking like the cool kids that excluded them all those years ago. That really is how a lot of people work.

"People want to be friends with me because I'm famous"

Wait wut. I didn't even know who you were before reading this thread. You're not Jay-Z, dude.

Edit: I did a quick google search and apparently this man is almost 60.

I'll just let that speak for itself.

Yes, which Is why I am advocating for a mature, yet assertive calling out of Stern's generalizations perhaps through a video.  We have proven time and time again to be able to feed mass views into Youtube, and It wouldn't be hard as a group effort to get a video to surface, especially when its backed by hundreds of forums members.

No, no we don't.

Yes, let's wish harm upon him. Aren't we wonderful human beings?

Stop right there. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. We don't have to do anything. Howard Stern is making fun of bronies, big whoop. So is Tosh.O, so is College Humor, so is a portion of the internet. Do we need to respond to them too? Have we gotten to the point where we've become so insecure about our enjoyment of a show that we have to rebuke those who mock it?

Now, satire I can understand. If what you desire is something witty in response, sure. That isn't the same as pushing back though - that is criticism of his behavior. It has nothing to do with some petty attempt at payback.

No, we don't have to do anything about Stern besides not give a shit. Let him mock us, its not like it'll change anything.
