They're both Pegasi, they both seem to like rock music in the movie (Rainbow Dash says "Rock on!" a few times, and Flash Sentry is a guitar player), Flash has a bolt as his cutie mark, so his cutie mark might have something to do with guarding and being fast? 

 

But seriously, I can see them together.

I could see them together since they both relate to each other in hobbies, not in personalities but I see more of Twilight being with Flash Sentry. I guess we could try to compare both of them being with Flash Sentry, but since it's just a possible relationship we could try to assume if they are perfect for each other. But, Rainbow and Flash could make a good couple even if Soarin might get jealous.

The thing about RainbowDash is I feel like she's the pony that would say: "Pfft, love is for eggheads!" You know? Not saying it wouldn't be cute, but considering her personality, if Dash ever falls in love, it would be...different from the way Twilight or Rarity fall in love. Know what I mean?

Flash has gone through enough suffering with the twilight fanboys, he can't take anymore leave him be. I do like the sound of dashsentry or rainbowflash though. Seriously through Rainbow dash hasn't shown enough interest in him but I would read a good fic about it.

Considering the interest that Twilight's already shown in him, it would be kind of awkward to go another route and have him be in a relationship with someone else, even if they likely have more in common from the extremely little we've seen of Flash's personality. Still, I'd need to see them actually have a conversation or a scene together before I'd support shipping them.

I think they're too similar. Their personalities would rainbow clash. Plus I don't think RD would like to be in a relationship with a rocker. she likes to be the centre of attention when it comes to being awesome so she would get jealous of him and she probably wouldn't like to be thought of as just some groupie.
