Reliance on an Item?

So I was wondering, does anyone else have a reliance on an object of a piece of technology?

 

I was just wondering, as since the age of 13~ i have slept with a fan on in my room 99% of all nights weather its winter or summer.

 

I now can't sleep properly without it when in a house! I think it has something to do with hearing a dull tone when there is silence and also a past fear of being alone! But nowadays I need it or I overheat really badly in bed ><!

Do Glasses count? They aren't vital for me I suppose, but I get headaches without them I would always forget I'm wearing them I'm so used to them.

Headaches suck so yeah they defiantly count!

 

I used to have some but my eyes got better once I stopped being on my PC 10+ hours a day ><! I don't envy you at all for having to wear them :/!

Yep, thats the item for me as well. I don't wear / have contact lenses either, so these are a bit of a permanent fixture for me. Heck, when I updated my prescription, I got the exact same lenses because I am so comfortable with them.

You sir, have the exact same dependence that I have. I have slept with a fan every night that I was able to since I was 5.  I enjoy the feeling and I have tinnitus, so that can be annoying if it doesn't get drowned out.

Is it okay if I say I rely on music? I just can't go through a day without listning to progressive rock. I have trained my brain to be able to remember every single notes in a song, so I can quite listen to music wherever I want, not as enjoyable as true music, but a great alternative to the MP3 if you don't have battery left.

During one summer, I used this spray fan because it was too hot to bear and I get heat stroke easily.. now I can't bear to be without it. I go insane if I can't find a spray bottle to spray myself every few minutes. I have it with me 24/7.

I rely too much on my laptop, I can't leave for one minute without it. But, I try so much to get away from it and it is just so hard to get away.

I hear you on this one. I used to live in Saudi Arabia and all the rooms are fitted with AC's, when I returned to England I had so much trouble sleeping because that droning noise was gone. Hell more than once I've woken up because the imaginary AC stopped working lol.

Thankfully I've shaken it off, but I'd say I've grown dependant on my phone, I use it for everything from being a satnav, emergency camera, search engine and of course phone.

For spending so much gotdang time in front of a computer, I really don't have any attachment to any digital device whatsoever. I can up and leave without feeling any different at all, other than minute anxiety that I may be missing an important e-mail or two.

 

When I was younger, and I had the fortune of having an iPod, I used to sleep to music every night, so much so that it eventually became almost impossible for me to sleep without it unless I was fully tired, and when it broke, I had many sleepless nights. Thankfully, I don't rely on it anymore.

 

My mom is quite dependent on her AC. She cannot sleep without it being very cold. For us living in the south, I have always thought this as a massive waste of electricity, but she just cannot acclimate to sleep in the heat.

I rely on computers, consoles, and any piece of technology I can meet people on too much. That has become my default way to speak to people. I answer to my username better than I do to my real name now.

Glasses, other than that in order to sleep my window has to be open. We live next to a river in Wisconsin, United States, and it may have to do with the sounds, but even during winter when it is frozen over, it still must be open.

I rely heavily on my keyboard to make snide, cunning, and rude remarks to unsuspecting victims. The anonymity of the internet emboldens me to act in ways I never would outside. The Keyboard also serves as a great way to help conceal my really dry sarcasm.

Yes. Probably the computer. I feel lost, confused, and naked if there is not a keyboard at the end of my fingertips. 

 

That and maybe a phone line. I've gone a month or two without a phone... it was tough!

I rely heavily on the internet. Mainly for engaging in social interaction and listening to music. I can't go a day without it and that's the truth. I would go completely crazy.

I, too, rely on a fan. I can't stand not having a fan. The heat kills me so easily. >_<

 

I also depend on my laptop for much of my social communication and my game consoles to keep my mind busy.

 

I also rely on socks and shoes cuz I can't stand my feet being bare and I can't walk around outside without shoes for the life of me.

I would say I'm very reliant on my laptop....I spend lots of time on it and use it to do important things like research, work, etc so it's very important. I actually don't have a lot of things I use frequently that I'd call total reliance.

 I'm reliant on my cell phone, mostly because it given me access to the internet whenever I need it.  I don't text a lot, but I use the apps and other stuff to help me out.  I use it to figure out directions, buses I should take and when the bus will arrive.  I also put important dates on the calender, use it to check and respond to email when I can't get to a computer and use it as my MP3 player.  I also like photography, so I take a lot of pictures on my cell phone.  It's nice having some sort of camera with you wherever you go.

 

  If I lost my phone or had it stolen I'd be pretty upset.  I feel like It's become a part of my life now.

I'm a mess... I'm reliant on my fan, some light, and radio to be able to sleep. Along with air conditioning, if it's too warm, of course.

 

Otherwise, I'm reliant on my computer and phone.

Ever since my glasses broke a few weeks ago I realised how much I need them. I'm ridiculously short sighted. 

 

I also probably rely on my headphones a lot since besides my PC they're probably the thing I use most.

 

Oh, and in the Winter i rely on my radiator a lot since my room has a tendency of getting cold.
