What happened to the BOOM of the sonic rainboom?

Remember the first time Rainbow Dash did a sonic rainboom as a filly? It caused a rock to crack wherever rarity's horn took her, caused Twilight to have a magical surge in Canterlot, changed Pinkie's Mane with a shockwave.   The point is that it seemed to caused impacts in places pretty far away from each other. But now, the BOOM part of the sonic rainboom is no longer present.   When RD rescued Rarity and the Wonderbolts, NOTHING.   Which is a good thing, considering Celestia asked her to do it a wedding with tons of people close by.

Just a thought from me and probably has nothing to do with show at all, but maybe it has to do with her doing it for the first time and getting her cutie mark at the same time causing it, again just a thought from me

That's a good theory. Combining the rainboom with the acquisition of her cutie mark might have been an event powerful enough to create a Boom.

Otherwise, I reckon there was a boom in the second and third rainbooms, but because the focus was on Rarity and the wedding respectively, the animation attention was put on them rather than the effect of the boom.

ya know, i didn't even notice until just now. maybe because the microphones were close to the boom in the first time? maybe there was less space taken up due to being a filly, allowing more air to vibrate? i don't have a degree in this stuff or anything, but these are just my thoughts.

We probably shouldn't try science for an answer, as nothing goes that fast. However, the first one seemed closer to the ground, possibly allowing the earth to amplify it. Or, she was kinda trying to show off and win the first time, so the boom was for effect, the rarity incident was purely to save rarity, to no effect needed.

The Sonic Rainboom is just an Earth equivalent of a Sonic Boom. And actually most Military Jet's can go that fast.

As for the less boom:

- It could be because she was a filly an the effect of her getting her cutie mark at the same time gave more power into the boom.

- It could be because the 2nd and 3rd time the animators were too busy with other animations and they didn't have enough time to make a bigger boom.

- It could be because the 2nd and 3rd time Rainbow Dash didn't want that big of a boom OR she wasn't focused on the boom hard enough to do so.

- Real Science Aspect: It also could be because when Rainbow Dash did it the first time she was closer to the ground and the boom bounced off the ground and came back up, hit the previous vibrating waves, and spread out like water hitting a wall, causing the boom size the double or even triple.

- Real Science Aspect: It could be because that Rainbow Dash was bigger and took up more space and was less Aerodynamic, so it had an effect with speed.

There are multiple speculations, take your pick.

Sound also behaves differently in MLP. It travels faster than light; or light travels slower.

Recall how Applejack was able to hear, and then see, the Rainbow pointing her way home when she was in Manehattan.

Well, Rainbow Dash was in/near Cloudsdale when her first Sonic Rainboom split a rock, caused Twilight to wreak havoc in Canterlot, etc. etc. Places such as Canterlot were pretty far away from Cloudsdale, and last I checked, a sonic boom is an explosive effect caused by the sound made from something traveling faster than the speed of light and/or sound. The others were far enough away that the sound reached their ears even later than it reached Rainbow Dash's, so the effect could have been bigger.

Who knows?

I guess she has mastered the technique to not cause a boom.

For example, sonic the hedgehog goes insanely fast that he can also cause a sonic boom, but in other times, he doesn't cause a noise when going that fast.

I guess that explains the no boom with rainbow dash.
