Open Invitation: forming a ponycore band

PlunderSteed

Recommended Posts

Hello, I'm the Minister. I publish music under the banner of "PlunderSteed".

Do you play rock/metal guitar, bass, keyboard, violin/cello or drums?

Are you a visual effects artist with experience in real-time (stage) performance?

Can you also sing?

Do you live in the NYC, NJ or Philadelphia area?

If you answered yes to any of those questions, then I need your help!  I've been working on a number of MLP-themed rock/metal songs.  If enough people are interested, we can pursue live performances at conventions.

I can provide studio space, most of the required instruments, transportation (within reason) and miscellaneous funding (within reason).  Some of my work so far:

Alternative Rock: "Bad Flyer" (featured on Equestria Daily's "Music of the Day #233").  Gaz sang primary vocals, and I did the rest.

Hard Rock: "Canterlot Whore"

Metal: "Consumed" by ShredGuitarBrony.  This one is about 90% finished.  He did the badass guitar work, drums, engineering and some of the synths/keyboards.  I did primary vocals, bass and some piano/synth work.

If interested, please reply in this thread and we'll get started.

Updated January 10th to fix the link to Elias' SoundCloud, and to add another video.

Problem is, the location of everypony who's in this band. It would have to be over webcam or something. Btw, I'm a 14 year pianist. I could take keyboard. I also have 3 years of composition experience.

The geographic limitations were more geared towards live performances, but online collaboration knows no limits.  If you are comfortable using Cubase, we could still work together.  I already do that kind of asynchronous studio work with a friend of mine in NJ, so it's not a big deal.  Drop me a line if you're serious about collaborating.

Bump.  With the latest release (and some exposure from EQD), we're starting to get on the map a little bit.  I found Erixeya, another Brony musician, who lives about 15 minutes away from me.  We (Gaz, Erixeya and I) will be doing some studio work in January, and I'm looking forward to sharing whatever shenanigans we come up with.  Still, we need more help!  Hit me up if interested.

I could probably send you something that you could get working on. If you can, we could probably jam over webcam or something like that.

Well, if we do do webcams, it will have to be over Skype. That is the only way I can do dis. I live in Korea, btw, the farthest out of everyone XD. Anyhoo, I play rock and metal guitar. Got about 2 years of practice(3 if you count other stuff I have done). I would love to jam with you guys, and I can do rhythm guitar. PM me for my Skype(and if you accept)

I play bass, keys, and sing cleans in the band I play for at the moment. I'd be happy work with ya, if ya want. Location is the only downside here, as I'm stationed in Kansas :(

I could try to get a skype setup, but it's gonna be tough with the semester schedule I'm on. Plus I'm in community college this semester, which accounts to me having to sneak, which is not the best thing to do.

I've been playing piano for 13 years, and I have some studio recording aperature. I can also sing pretty good, but my reach isn't very high... Nor low.

I can also compose songs and write songtext if desired. A friend of mine is a really good bass, so he might be able to help out too!

How would you walk, how would you talk if you thought: "Three percent of the population likes classical music, if only we could get it up to four percent we'd be back in business and all our problems would be over." How would you walk, how would you talk if you thought: "Everybody loves classical music! They just haven't found out about it yet!" It's an entirely different world. It's what you make of it that counts.

I found an easy way to find out if you've inspired someone. If their eyes are shining, you know you're doing it!

I'm not a bad singer, harsh and clean.

Specifically, my harsh vocals are somewhere between a yell and a growl. I'm pretty sure there's a term for it but I don't remember what it is. Kinda like this part, at 2:18 (but a bit more growlish) -

My range when singing clean isn't very good. I've never had formal voice training or anything, so I don't really know if I'm any good, I just know I'm on key and don't sound terrible. Most of my singing is done in the car, along with the MLP soundtrack or whatever is on the radio :P

Although, my only microphone is pretty shitty.

Signature now 99% less edgy!

I've been getting into mixing progressive metalcore for about a year and like to think of my mixes as pretty good. If you ever record something and want it to be mixed together and mastered properly, just hit me up!

Also if you need 7 string riffing/guest solo's/all that jazz i can help with that too :D

I think you mean Screaming? That one singing style many people confuse with the genre screamo lol

Iv'e been playing drums for about 12 years, and I have a diploma in Popular music and Jazz.  Metal isn't really my thing, but I'll do it for anything MLP related.  If you guys want to send me tracks or arangments you can PM me for contact info anytime.  I have a Firestudio, mics, and a kit.  As for cons and travel, I can't afford any plane tickets out of Canada, unless you pay!

We're so spread out!  It'll be interesting to see what happen with the Renegade Stage at BronyCon this year.  I'm not convinced they really know what to expect from it themselves, at this point.  Still, it has a lot of potential, and it could let us have a lot of fun outside of the mountain of dubstep and instrumental electronica that constitutes most of the Brony music community.
