Opinions on Classical, 80's, and Modern music

We've all had our share of good and bad music throughout the ages. The classical age must have had bad songs, but many shine out as masterpieces. The 80's had tons of terrible songs, yet they had lots of good ones too. Today's music has a good amount of songs that shine from the crowd of generic and bland mainstream pop, like Boards of Canada with their recent Tommorow's Harvest album.

TBH, I'd take today's awful pop music over the awful pop from the 80's any day. 

 

Being 15, it's weird to people that I'm an "80's baby".

Bro, you're not weird. I'm 15 and listen to everything from death metal to J-pop and I don't consider my taste in music weird.

Not a big fan of classical.

 

80s were great. Old-school Metallica, Michael Jackson, Bon Jovi, Loverboy, Journey, the list goes on. Plus there were plenty of one-hit-wonder artists during that decade, but I forget most of their names.

 

Modern music is a mixed bag. The only genres I'd bother listening to are post-hardcore, house, and believe it or not, there are a handful of country songs that I find pretty catchy.

 

Oh, I'm sure the music hipsters in this thread will be all over this post like flies on a pile of shit. Seriously, shut up. Nobody gives a rat's ass if it's mainstream or not; that isn't relevant to quality. I don't know what it is with these kids and trying to be edgy by digging up the most obscure music they can and bashing bands/songs that most people recognize. It's like... stop. You're not cool.
