Yea so like, I decided to jump onto the single genre/era thread bandwagon. Except I'm doing it really late because I'm cool like that. So like yea, this thread is for like emo/post-hardcore/screamo stuff.

Yea so like this song is like totally amazing.

Does suicidal lyrics in this song still count as emo in the thead? (Damn 100 character limit, I have to type other stuff on to reach over the limit)

Emo is short for Emotional Hardcore, it is a sub-genre of Hardcore msuic (duh). Just because Emo kids like to listen to it or it's something that sounds all suicidal and angsty doesn't mean that it qualifies.

Does this song count as Emo?

That is far away from emo

this thread is for like emo/post-hardcore/screamo stuff.

The only thing those have in common are that they're all Hardcore sub-genres.

And anyways here's my contribution

So I know some people in my school who claim these songs are of the Emo genre. I thought I'd post them here and see what you guys have to say about them. Are they emo? What do you think?

No, it's definitely not emo. Just scene

Anyways, you guys sure have posted plenty of Midwest/Indie Emo, but no Skramz stuff yet. I ish dissapoint

And I'm going to count this kind of Skramz since it did originate from Emo. Deal with it boiii

Don't listen to those people, they obviously don't know what they're talking about.

This is my favorite Orchid song.

It's against the rules to bypass the character limit ^^' Just sayin'.

Okay, how about this? I love 'emo music' as people call it.

I love these guys.

People used to make fun of me for what I listen to and how I dress (usually a lot of black xD) But just because I like this stuff doesn't really make me 'emo' because I'm really not xD

Also

Not sure why this one wont show up...

If I am wrong in calling these 'emo music' I don't really care xD It's just what people around me call it.

That's not even close to emo. *sigh* Hardly anyone is familiar with emo...

Here's some proper (and very well made) emo.

Damn, this song is amazing.

Yeah, yeah yeah. What ever, I don't really care. May I point out what I said at the end in my edit?

Well the people around you are very wrong. I'm not trying to sound like an elitist, it's just that labels like "emo" and "screamo" get thrown around by people that know next to nothing about them.

Okay, well each to their own. Like I said I really don't care about that stuff anyway. I listen to what I like and don't care for labels :P

As others have said, those aren't emo bands, those guys are both Post-Hardcore, and since we've brought up Post-Hardcore and Post-Hardcore is allowed I might as well leave some of my personal favorites:
