Are memes and fanon being overused?

Is it just me, or have some of this fandom's memes havebecome way overused.

 

I keep seeing the same jokes over and over again on brony sites such as My little Brony, and EqD. It's all the same thing: Lyra being obsessed with humans and other fanon that's been done 100000x before, chicken and other pony re-imagining jokes, and of course, all this #savederpy bullshit (seriously, it's been a year, and people are STILL butthurt about a cartoon horse!). The worst part is that if you even suggest that maybe, just maybe, that these memes are overused to the people in the comments section, you'll only get a bunch of hate and smartass responses like "hurr durr no fun allowed!" This really annoys the crap out of me.

 

Don't get me wrong, I still like (some) memes. I think that they can be very funny if used for responses and reactions in forums, but only in moderation. But a joke is only funny the first few times you here it. After that, it stops being funny, and you eventually start to cringe every time you here it.

 

Am I the only one here who's bothered by this? Surely I can't be alone.

I really love some of them, but others need to die off. Like the Chicken joke? that's bullshit and I hate that one, Mostly because Scoots is my second favorite pony. The Academy Record one is pretty funny, with some others as well, but some need to go.

I don't mind the memes or fanon at all, but there are some that need to just die already. Let's put it this way, it's better to get rid of an old overused joke than a new fresh joke.

True, everything has its alpha and omega. All the memes getting overused times by times will eventually make those memes die faster.

You can delay Death but can not stop it! 

Error 37 meme was getting too overused then easily be forgotten fast; this chicken meme is no exception.

I think we need to get some new memes and let the old ones die, mainly because they are never funny in the first place.

-Scootaloo is a chicken

-Spike is the new Rainbow Dash

-Rarity is a marshmallow

-Fluttershy is a tree

-Flash Sentry hate

...none of them were exceptionally good enough memes to keep around and have been used so much that they've overstayed their welcome worse than Arrow to the Knee.

They can get overused, but most are usually funny. I always love seeing a good human and Lyra reference and meme once in a while.

I really don't have a problem with it, it's really one of the things I love about this fandom. We kinda have this interactive relationship with the show where we've created and maintained a whole expanded universe of characters and such. I personally find the Derpy thing somewhat endearing, especially after Tvtropes pointed out that we've literally latched to this character and defend her like she's a little sister to all of us or something. 

 

There are a couple that get grating though if the execution is poor. The main one I tend to dislike is Pinkie's alter ego being homicidal, I almost want to do a re-construction by making "Pinkiemina" just a harmless scared little filly that just wants her friends.

Oh lord yeah. Sure, there are some that are funny and make sense like the Scootaloo chicken thing, and I find the Rarity/marshmallow thing cute in a way, but some are just flat out annoying like the Lyra/humans thing, you literally cannot mention her most of the time without people throwing in annoying human references around, and this is all just because she sat on a bench weird one time... Ugh, sorry but I just don't like it.

And of course 20% cooler is overused, I don't mind that too much but it can be annoying at times.

I don't mind the memes or fanon some of the fanon is actually pretty entertaining. I love Scootachicken but that will most likely start to get a little annoying but I am getting kinda sick of Lyra's obsession with humans. It was amusing to begin with but it's wearing pretty thin.

I'll be totally honest the memes and fanon stuff really doesn't bother me at all.

 

Infact some i actually find quite interesting, the whole fact people have a personality to different background ponies i actually find entertaining and interesting.

 

Memes don't really bother me much, non of the fandom ones really. 

 

I'm just not one to get irritated by that kind of thing easily i guess.

It doesn't bother me at all. Then again, I'm 20% cooler than most. "That's an academy record!" is kinda funny, and anything involving GAK is hilarious.
