Probably Equestria. I mean, the ponies control the sun and moon. They get to name the planet, I would assume. Never directly stated of course.

According to a few fanfictions I've read in the past, there's many fans that are fond of labeling the planet with the name 'Equus', or other variations. I can dig it.

Personally I am rather found of how many fans have gave it the name Equis and thus I accept that headcanon.

I don't think its equestria. As others have said, there are many other countries other than equestria. Wouldn't make much sense to call the planet the name of one country :/ In heartswarmingeve they showed the founding of Equestria and at the end they said "and the called the new land Equestria" I really doubt they would name a new country the name of the planet. Just my opinion. Nothing is really canon but many vilians try to take over "all of Equestria!". Kind of similar like how cartoon villians in our world try to take over "the whole world!". So it could be named equestria, but it just doesn't make much sense so until something is canon, Im assuming its not called Equestria. I wouldn't think lauren faust would make a ton of other countries and call the entire planet "Equestria" when it was just one small country out of the many in there planet.

I have a theory about this, Equestria is a future earth due to humans dying during a nuclear war, and the animals and magic and other stuff we see in Equestria is nothing more then mutations and radiation, evidence for this is the ends of Equestria, we see a wasteland, nothing more then a desert filled with killer animals
