Have the latest episodes disappointed you?

Or have the most recent episodes been oddly bad? May just be me but I wanna know if anyone else has noticed a lack in quality, feels like a bunch of fillers that Rubberfruit made if he ever was sane and a brony.

Lubius: so the man walks up to the dog and gives him his hot dog. get it? lol!!

Ken: LOL!

Deus Ex Machina: I'm surrounded by idiots.

I like them but I think I know what you mean. In some older episodes they all have been there helping eachother, but in these new episodes there have been just one or two ponies. But I still like it. I would be happy if they went back to the "all ponies in one episode" thing but one episode for each pony doesn't bother me.

Don't worry, it's just you. The rest of the community feels the exact opposite :P

I like them, but I feel as if the latest ones have changed from focusing on the main 6 to just one or two at a time, and I prefer when its all the ponies.

I think that it may be just you. In my opinion, the last few episodes have improved in writing quality, animation, and music.

Maybe the reason that you have not been too happy with the most recent episodes is that we have not really had a good adventure episode for a while?

When you say the most recent episodes, do you mean season 2 or do you mean just the last 2 or 3 episodes?

Edited to break the monotony of responses.

Not me. I've loved the new episodes so far... my bias against Hearts and Hooves day notwithstanding. I'm just not all too interested in the CMC's.

I'd rather have the mane six as a whole instead of one pony in the show. But bias aside, the episodes are actually very good.

I caught up with the series just before the Last Roundup came out, and since then, the only episode that seemed to be of lower quality was Read it and Weep. The last two have been great

I like the new episodes, I don't think there is a decline in quality at all.

Also, just as a note on the issue of them not having all of the mane 6 together every episode. Think of it like this:

If you loved peanut butter and mayonaise sandwhiches you would want one every day right? But if you ate one every single day you would probably get tired of them, or they would not be as special to you as they once were. Eventually that tangy flavor you once loved would lose its place in your heart, leaving you empty and peanut butter/mayoniase-less inside...

So in relation to ponies, imagine the all mane 6 episodes as those special days you get to have a peanut butter and mayonaise sandwhich! :D

Nope, they all feel the same to me! Although, like some others are saying, I guess it does get kind of annoying when only 1 or 2 mane ponies get screen time. But hey, the episodes are still good, and will get even better with the upcoming Fluttershy episode!

feels like a bunch of fillers that Rubberfruit made if he ever was sane and a brony.

Are you implying Rubberfruit makes bad videos?

You have to see the fact that if every episode was all the ponies then the producers would run out of ideas far too quickly. Right now i fear they may be running out of ideas altogether. I really hope not.

Also each episode having an individual mane pony gives the producers 6x more ideas for more episodes and extended seasons. And adding in episodes for ponies out of the mane 6 gives them far more ideas. Who knows. Maybe derpy will have her very own episode. Everyponies dream. The cutie mark crusaders have there own episodes and there are more to come. Trust me. The lack of quality you see will eventually straiten out when you realize the purpose of the ideas.

Spike is getting his own episode and it has to do with an out of mane 6 character. Just keep your hopes up. Everypony will love the new episodes to come. Remember. Its my little pony. Never ceases to make everypony smile.

That is pretty much the thing with season 2. This season is pretty much about character development.

I remember thinking this when seeing May The Best Pet Win, The Mysterious Mare Do Well, Sweet and Elite, and Secret of My Excess for the first time. There does seem to be something missing at times...in episodes such as Hearts and Hooves Day it becomes especially frustrating, since what's missing is the constant interplay between the Mane Six. We've been getting it in snatches and bits in episodes like Hearth's Warming Eve and The Last Roundup, but...we're not seeing it to the extent we should. The real key that makes this show work, above all others, is sticking to its core theme of friendship being magic, as it says in the title. Too many individually focused episodes makes for something not QUITE as good as all cast member encompassing episodes do.

There is another possible aspect I'd like to point out though, that being that there's an element of the initial thrill being gone. It's the same sort of thing that can happen whenever you discover a new show, or new book series, or even in relationships, both platonic and romantic...you experience something new, something exciting, but after a time the initial thrill wears off...as a result, the continued experience can seem suddenly diminished even though it really isn't. The quality of the latest episodes, occasional aberrations such as Mysterious Mare Do Well aside, hasn't been going down, not really. Your perspective is what has changed. I realize I'm mostly speaking for myself here and possibly projecting my own feelings onto you, but I would be willing to bet that I'm, at the very least, onto something here.

I would prefer that they move back towards focusing on everypony for most episodes, with individually focused episodes only happening on occasion, as they did in the first season. While individually focused episodes can still be fantastic, as proven by examples such as Party of One and Lesson Zero, too many indicates a dangerous trend, in my opinion. Still, it's possible that trend will go away and will be replaced with something new for the third season.

Each season having its own trend would be rather neat. The first season was something akin to My Little Twilight: Twilight And Sometimes Her Friends. If you don't believe me, check out this chart of screentime: MLP FIM characters' season 1 screentimes Anyway, even with that, it was still mostly based around everypony being together.

The second season has clearly been one of individual or the occasional dual focus. Each pony gets their own time in the spotlight, almost to the exclusion of everypony else.

What might the third season be? I'm thinking possibly it could involve many dual-focused episodes...where two ponies are the spotlight rather than just one. The closest pony episode example I can think of would be Green Isn't Your Color. Stuff like that.

...good grief, how do I manage to go on random tangents almost every time I post?

This is exactly how I feel. I much preferred when the episodes were about all of the mane six, as opposed to just focusing on one character.

Please elaborate. Was it the lack of mare 6 dynamics, or the plot, or the jokes, or lack of (actual) adventure?
