Why does Rainbow Dash sound like a guy in season 2?

Am I the only one who noticed that Rainbow Dash sounds like a guy in season 2? In season 1, she sounded like a girl, but then later on in season 2, she sounds more like a guy, I don't get why. Here, let me show an example:

Season 1:

Season 2:

She's much cuter when she sounds like a girl :/

At the beginning of the series, all the characters, minus Pinkie and Fluttershy, who sound the same, sounded "girlier", probably because they had just started to voice the characters and were trying ton sound like the character, as opposed to later when they were comfortable in the roles and didn't need to try.

wooow that is a big difference! ohmy.png I haven't even noticed...

And you're so right, she sounds so much cuter in S1.

I've noticed that Pinkie Pie has changed her voice since S1 too. :L

I wish they sounded like in season 1 again ^_^

Neither voice is exactly the most "girly" sounding, but both sound feminine enough to where you can tell it is a female character. I don't have a particular preference for one or the other, I just chalk it up to the natural evolution of a characters voice. It happens all the time in cartoons although not quite as often for a fairly new cartoon like MLP. The Simpson is really where I notice it the most as all of their voices especially Homers have changed a great deal.

Applejack's voice was very high pitched in S1, like Rainbow's in the 1st clip.  They were probably trying to find the right voices for the characters.  I'm glad they brought the pitch down, it makes it easier to watch for me.

It sounds to me like differences in emotional content. Nobody's voice stays the same all of the time. To be perfectly frank, both sound feminine to me.

I agree, to begin with they were just finding there way on how ti make the characters sound and made RD sound more tomboyish as they went.

Also lets not forget, AJ & RD are voiced by the same actress and making them all just feminine risks making them sound the same so making RD more tomboyish would make that voice role more distinct which probably helps if  she's voicing both AJ & RD alot in one episode.

I don't think she sounds anythingike a guy in that second clip. Her voice is noticeably deeper during that particular scene, but that's it. She still sounds obviously like a girl. It's just a choice of the voice actress, I guess. Rainbow Dash's voice actress, (forgot her name...) has a relatively deep voice to begin with anyway.

I have actually never noticed that she sounded like a guy in season 2...and I still haven't.

Honestly, she still sounds like a girl to me. Her voice has always sounded kind of scratchy and deeper to me for some reason, so I don't think I would notice her pitch change all too much.

I never noticed too high a difference until viewing those two clips. Voice actors/actresses commonly change their voices slightly as production goes on (the first clip came from The Ticket Master, which was apparently the first episode made).

Natural voice-evolution on Ashleigh Ball's part
Not only did Rainbow Dash sound a tad higher in season one, but so did Applejack. I never really paid that much attention to it, until she mentioned it in an interview with Everfree Radio, if my memory serves me right.
I like both of those voices, though, I prefer to more tomboyish voice a bit more.

Also, those hooves...

Yeah, I've noticed a change in her voice! But not to the extent when she sounds like a guy. Dunno whether it's on purpose or not but I do love her voice either way. She's always adorable to me :3

It's probably just Ashleigh!'s voice naturally changing, too. I mean, imagining voicing Rainbow for maybe a year or so, might drive your vocal chords deeper!

I think Ashleigh talked about this in either her interview or the VA panel at EverFreeRadio... I watched both of them, and they are both very long, so I don't quite remember. I recommend watching them anyway, because they're very fun to watch (actually the CutieMarkCrusader VA-Panel is even more fun!)

And as everyone else already said, they were trying hard to "fit the voice" and experimenting and all, and in Season 2 they found a more comfortable and fitting voice than in season 1, even if it may sound somewhat better in Season 1.

Rainbow Dash still sounds like a girl in my opinion, but I don't doubt that her voice was deeper in that short clip as opposed to the first one. Also, I do think that was a one off - she's still very high pitched and so raspy that sometimes her voice just peaks off. Either way, I love her voice, new or old.

Haha oops of just realised I've already posted on this thread.

I never noticed that she sounded different in season 2. Interesting! Anyways I don't think she sounds like a guy at all in Season 2. Sure her voice is a little deeper but that doesn't make her sound like a guy, it just makes her sound...less girly? I don't know.

I can't really hear that I think she still sounded much like a girl, just with an attitude, :P

I really like her voice, actually. I think it sounds cute. :3
