After going through the forums tonight, bored as buck, a question suddenly popped into my head. Who else could turn into Nightmare Moon? Therefore, I decided to come here and ask you good people. Who else, do you think, could become the Nightmare?

 

By the way, be sure to include any possible characteristics about the pony you choose, that could be exploited. Fire away chaps!

I would have to say, Princess Celestia since having a huge role in the show can sometimes lead to doubting yourself and having some jealousy inside of you from a lot of stressful work.

Technically, anypony with magic has the possibility to turn into a nightmare. It is just hate and resentment. Think joining the dark side in star wars. That's one theory at least.

 

My other theory is that nightmare energy is a natural "bad" energy that is drawn toward negative feelings and emotions, hence anypony emitting these emotions would draw the energy in and be somewhat possessed by them.

There's Celestia for one but I think the nature of her magic would make it not effective.

 

I could imagine Chyrsallis becoming Nightmare as she'd probably accept extra power without really thinking off the consequences, especially after her recent defeat.

 

How many people want Twilight to be evil after they learned she can copy dark magic....

I'm all for Nightmare Rarity...she could be jealous of another's beauty, and feel insecure jealousy unfolds and takes over. >:3

Pinkie Pie...mabe if she's driven deeper into the mind that is Pinkamena, she could turn Nightmarish. and what we seen in "Party Of One" was just the first level of her Pinkamenaness. She would delve deeper and deeper into the mind of Pinkamena, and eventually lose herself in her mind...being trapped inside a mind that is purely insane.

 

I could also see Flutters, turning Nightmarish...as being overly assertive, turning her more towards the darkness, and away from her element of kindness....She would eventually be filled with nothing but hatred and darkness...

Anyone.

 

Everyone has a darker side....quite literally. All it takes is a strong dose of magical corruption to bring it out.

 

I actually wrote a fanfiction based on this concept, although it used a different corrupting force than the Nightmare ghost-energy-darkness-thingies. Along with having "Elements of Disharmony", this fic heavily implied that the Nightmare form of oneself can emerge without the use of corrupting magic, due simply to psychological suppression of negative emotions, and this idea is definitely not based on personal experience:

Everyone has a dark side, and thus, everyone could theoretically become a Nightmare being. Even the most harmonic of characters have some amount of darkness deep down, even Celestia *who I'd love to see become a Nightmare being or something similar*.

I actually hope that Twilgiht goes nightmare. Maybe in the premiere, the mane 6 outside of Twilight can finally do something in a 2 parter instead of being in the background.

I'd Imagine Rainbow's "Nightmare" form to literally be a moving disaster, Kinda like how Deathwing just shatters the ground, creates tsunami's and abnormal weather just merely passing by anything close to her. She also wouldn't bother avoiding anything either and just rainnuke through any terrain blocking her flightpath XD
