Robin Hoof 47 December 9, 2013 Share December 9, 2013 Your vector looks very nice (we hates the vectoring) the alicorns looks very nice too. I think the next step towards improvemet is addiñg more depth to your figures. Rigt now they look a bit like cut outs. I think most of it has to do with the legs. I think adding more curvature to the hooves will help. Adding a bit of shading might do the trick as well. Great stuff though, the vector looks fantastic though I am happy to see some color. Keep up the good work. I am happy to draw pictures for people who want them. Just let me know. And in that spirt, Bits for all!
Frith is Magick 1,471 December 9, 2013 Author Share December 9, 2013 (edited) They are really good, that one of the Queen is amazing Thank you. I assume you are referring to Chrysalis in my second or third post; I have no idea how I managed to do that. I think adding more curvature to the hooves will help. Adding a bit of shading might do the trick as well. Great stuff though, the vector looks fantastic though I am happy to see some color. Keep up the good work. I agree wholeheartedly. That is the main problem, I think, with a drawing quota. Most of these are done quickly whenever I can get a moment. As for colour, don't expect too much. I have... problems with colour. It took nearly an hour to get the colours for Fluttershy, and they are far from perfect. Thank you for the feedback. To all who may be reading this, please don't try to be nice. I admit many of my mistakes are the result of rushed work, but all the same, I want to know what I am doing wrong. I usually tune out people who say nothing more than that it is good, I want harsher critiques. Unless otherwise stated, my target style is show-accurate. Frith is Magick 1,471 December 13, 2013 Author Share December 13, 2013 Hey there, everybody. I'm back with a few more of my scribbles. Experimentation. I just wanted to quickly try out some different styles. I only spent about 15-20 minutes on each one, so they're not very good. Fluttershy Portrait. Just keeping it simple, a quick sketch of Fluttershy. It seems oddly elongated though... Winterized Fluttershy. Nothing welcomes snowfall like an adorable pony wearing a Santa hat while holding a mug of hot chocolate. If only the execution was better. Sun King's Return. It is a bit weird posting a drawing for the Solstice so early, but this is what I drew. Merry (early) Solstice With this term over, I hope to have more time for drawing. One of these days I want a solid 2 hours of quiet so I can just sit down and draw. As usual, comments and critiques are welcome. If any of you want me to try something out, I welcome the challenge. I'll see you all next time. 3 Keep flyin'
Sir Wulfington 276 December 13, 2013 Share December 13, 2013 It's good that you know they're poor quality, you want to be objective about your work. You seem to have proportions pretty well, for the most part, which is very good. My advice would be to learn proper lighting and shading (how light effects different objects) in order to add depth to your pictures. You should figure out where the light source in your drawing is (even if said source is not visible in the drawing) to know where to add lighting and shading on your subjects. As for coming up with your own ideas, try getting inspiration from other people's art (but don't just blatantly copy what they did), or from the show itself, or maybe from unrelated sources. When you try to draw these ideas, use proper referencing to know the character and everything else in the drawing should look from the angle, and poses they're in. I'd suggest using realistic horse pose images to show you what kind of poses they're capable of, since the show seems to use realistic horse movements, and figure out how to draw the characters, in the show's style, in said poses. Like this Keep practicing, the drawing a day idea was something I was gonna suggest but you're already on that 1 Proud Supporter of Communism
Frith is Magick 1,471 December 22, 2013 Author Share December 22, 2013 (edited) Hey there everyone. I've been away from the pencil for a little bit. Here's what I have. Pinkie Makes Hot Chocolate. This was a fun one to draw. I kept it simple, but put a little more thought into the shadows. I just scribbled in a couple trees to fill empty space. Lyra, in the style of @TwistedShadow. Twisted, dude, you had some awesome drawings, but you haven't added anything to your art thread in a long time. Twilight's Corruption. What if Twilight Sparkle had become overwhelmed by Sombra's dark magic? What if he was able to corrupt her... Drat. I took this picture in bad lighting, so it doesn't show up well. I should try for a better picture. I recently got started with a project, so most of my art won't be posted here. I'll try to get a few drawings a week specifically for this thread, but I won't be showing many of my drawings here. Well, see you all next time. Merry Yule, everyone, blessed be. Twisted, dude, you had some awesome drawings, but you haven't added anything to your art thread in a long time. Oh my :X Thanks alot. I didnt have that much time/motivation to draw rescently, but ill add some new sketches i have gathered soon. And your art looks very nice, as usual. I love the first one ALOT. Dont really have any constructive comments on that. The second one honours me ofcourse. Maybe try drawing the head a bit taller and put a bit more accent one the eyes, but other than that does it look very nice too. The third one is a very nice idea with good way of putting it into a pic. I would maybe draw the mouth a bit smaller, but then again do i never really open mouths in drawings XD Keep it up man. Trying to mimic your style was a fun challenge, everything is different. I don't know if I'll do more, but those tips may be useful. As for Twilight's mouth, I agree. It looked good on paper, but in the picture her teeth look huge. Keep flyin'
Frith is Magick 1,471 January 31, 2014 Author Share January 31, 2014 Hey everybody, your old uncle Frith is back. Now, I've been too darn busy for all that "art" stuff lately, which is why you may have seen a slight decrease in the quantity of work produced. Anyway, I was flipping through my sketch book and found some stuff that never got posted. Believe it or not, I used to have time to do one drawing a day, plus extras. Most of these were never released because, well, they sucked. What you will be seeing is either stuff that was too crappy to show, stuff I never finished, or pictures that I made slight edits to. It ain't much, but it's what I have. Old drawings with minor edits: Unfinished: (ponified Dave Lister) Low quality: Keep flyin'
Frith is Magick 1,471 February 12, 2014 Author Share February 12, 2014 (edited) Hey everyone who may be reading this. It's been a while since I've been able to post. As I'm sure you've already guest, old uncle Frith has a couple new doodles for you kids. First off we have human Flutterbat. This is just a doodle I did with a pen in class. I forget which piece I referenced, so if anyone knows, please tell me. Es gibt keine Zauber gegen ein gebrochen Herz. I thought it was about time to draw Trixie. It's not great, but it's better than a good chunk of my previous stuff. I hope I didn't mess up on the German... As usual comments, critiques, and advice are more than welcome. I'll see you all next time, whenever that may be. Chrysalis looks awesome, and so do the other pictures too! Thank you. To this day I do not understand how I was able to draw Chrysalis like that. I'm happy you like them. Edited February 12, 2014 by Frith is Magik Keep flyin'

Frith is Magick 1,471 February 16, 2014 Author Share February 16, 2014 In celebration of Canada kicking butt in Sochi (even though I don't actually follow the Olympics ), old uncle Frith drew Hockeyjack. It's not great, it was drawn pretty quick, but as always, I welcome feedback. 3 Keep flyin'
branfeynt 101 February 19, 2014 Share February 19, 2014 Hi, Frith is Magik! Just wanna say all your drawings of Fluttershy are amazing! I myself began to draw just recently, so don't have any good advice. But when I look at your Fluttershy's pictures, I don't know how to say it... It feels Fluttershy. For me it's the most important thing about drawing. Guess it's because of great face expressions. Wish I could draw Fluttershy like you do, because she is the best pony And Chrysalis drawing on the first post is great! And hockey Applejack is awesome! I'm not into Olympic games too, but as I heard your country at the first places. Congratulations! (Maybe English speakers use other word for sports, but I know just that )

Frith is Magick 1,471 February 19, 2014 Author Share February 19, 2014 "I Shall Be Your Strength" After 2 hours 45 minutes: "forget it, this is as done as it's getting." Nightmare moon was... a challenge to draw. About half way through, I had an idea for anyone who may want to draw her in pencil: Do the shading opposite, then invert the colours when you upload it. It seems like it would be easier. If anyone tries it, tell me if it works. 2 Keep flyin'
Frith is Magick 1,471 February 25, 2014 Author Share February 25, 2014 Metalshy How original, it looks nothing like a combination of Emoshy and Flutteryay... Anyway, I'm always eager to get feedback and criticism, so tell me what you think. Frith is Magick 1,471 March 5, 2014 Author Share March 5, 2014 This is what happens when I listen to bagpipes while I am drawing... I would love to hear (I guess read) any feedback and critiques that any of you have (I know I slacked off drawing the pipes...). This isn't really the place, but what the hay. I'm thinking of learning to draw in an anime-ish style for if I want to draw humans, so tips on that are also welcome. Keep flyin'

Frith is Magick 1,471 March 15, 2014 Author Share March 15, 2014 (edited) The real reason Trixie doesn't trust wheels. Spoilered for slightly dark theme. This one was just a quick sketch, I wanted to get the idea on paper, but didn't have the drive to actually put the time into making it good. I'm going to call this thread dead. I've lost the last of my drive, and I don't see myself making use of it. If I do end up doing anything, drawings can have their own threads, but it seems pointless to bother with this one.
