yeah............

how long do you think youtube will last?

Another 8 years or more, since this doesn't affect everyone. It only affects 'affiliate' partners. Myself and others such as TotalBiscuit are 'managed' partners so it doesn't affect us. Although it does cut down on our competition which I'm not going to compain about.

I also want to add that people where saying YouTube wouldn't last since it's layout changes when Google+ came out, when the one layout came out, when cosmic panda came out...and on and on and on. No one left, plenty people joined.

i like that instead of going all the way into my youtube inbox there is a notifier on the top right if I got a reply or a thumbs up or even someone i subscribed to uploads a new video. Im enjoying google + even though most of you hate it. and I can disable replies to my comments

I don't need to know the smallest reaction or upload as soon as it happens. YouTube is a video hosting site, not a chatroom.

By the way, you're wrong. Most of us don't "hate" Google+.

We hate that Google decided to force everyone to use it on YouTube. We hate that watching videos and managing playlists are the two sole things we can do on YouTube without using Google+.

A huge majority of the replies here make it clear that they don't actually mind Google+ alone. How hard is it to see the difference?

-------

As for disabling replies, why would you even feel the need to do that? It's basically the option to just state an opinion or idea, then plugging your ears like "LALALA I SAID WHAT I WANTED AND I CAN'T HEAR ANYONE ELSE HAHAHA"

That's how people use the comment-disabling system sometimes, too.

Don't get me wrong, I know it has a legitimate reason (see below). But I've known dumb videos expressing very fallacious views, with comments disabled from the start just to evade discussion.

There is, for example, this feminist video explaining why the gaming industry is apparently misogynistic because their works tend to have the "male hero battles enemies and saves damsel in distress" storyline - all examples being very old games for limited-capacity consoles, obviously.

Yes, it was made to give uploaders more freedom, especially with videos on very sensitive subjects and/or after flame wars erupt. It's really practical that way, I appreciate that, so don't misread me. But as you see, uploaders can, and will, abuse it.

And comments, well, why would you feel the need for that function? You posted something, you don't want reactions - use PM. Or ignore reply notifications to it. or if you just get spam, report it.

"I'm saying this but I don't wanna hear anyone's thoughts on the subject" - well you have your channel for that. Just post a comment on your front page with the video's URL, and if anyone replies there, delete it.

I have to admit, Google Plus + YouTube = bad idea. With the merger, you're almost FORCED to use your real name on YouTube, which is a bit of a privacy issue. There's also a system that posts any of your videos being taken down on your G+ account, I believe, correct me if I'm wrong.

You can change your YouTube channel name but only once, you can call yourself anything. Trust me there are lots of pinkie pie channels on YT, that where originally bob Jenkins or whatever.

The only time I use Google+ is when I want to do a hangout with someone or a group of people. It's been months since I was in one, because we'd stick with skype. But skype nowadays is crappy. I prefer hangouts. but most people just stick with skype. :s

Google + is shit. Not only is it unnecessary, but the comments section is fucked up. Unlimited characters was a bad idea. Freaking Bob, and people can write whole fucking novels in their comment.

First, let's address the YouTube aspect. By forcing YouTube users to sign up for Google Plus, Google's market share increases, therefore gaining more money. Google can also personalise advertisments towards you based on the data collected on your Google account, meaning that Google's revenue increases. This means that Google makes more money, which can be used in more innovation and development of YouTube.

Second, Google+ is useful for small communities, assuming you use Android. The integration with Google Plus and Android is nice, and Hangouts is very useful. If you want to beta test a Google Play app, you must first join their Plus group, which is useful as it presents a central hub for communication between beta testers and developers.

That being said, the idea of Circles seems quite messy. I'd prefer two-way confirmation for adding friends, as opposed to somebody being able to stalk you instantly until you block them.

^ Quoted for truth

That alone makes the integration between the two worth it. It speeds up dev time and reduces first release bugs.

I think it's a good idea in concept but they really messed it up, especially when it was first starting. They released it as invite only for quite a while and it was getting a lot of hype, people were waiting for it to come out of invite mode but they delayed it way too long. No one who was invited had anyone to communicate with through it and the hype went away, people went back to Facebook and when it was finally released, no one cared so they started forcing people to use it through YouTube.
