Lady Rarity Pony 4,892 October 31, 2011 Share October 31, 2011 I'm not sure they ever stated it. Obviously Celestia and Luna seem to be immortal but what about the commoners? PlNKlE PIE 364 October 31, 2011 Share October 31, 2011 Ponies don't die, they stop aging once they become elderly. 1 "Well," said Pooh, "what I like best—" and then he had to stop and think. Because although Eating Honey was a very good thing to do, there was a moment just before you began to eat it which was better than when you were, but he didn't know what it was called. Crispy 5,563 October 31, 2011 Share October 31, 2011 Guess it depends on how realistic we want to be. According to http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/pets/pony.htm 35 or 40 years. According to my head canon, they age like we do, so 80-100. Finesthour 7,287 October 31, 2011 Share October 31, 2011 Well seeing granny smith who has apparently been alive since everyone was a filly, i'd say pretty freking old.
Slendermane 477 October 31, 2011 Share October 31, 2011 Personally, I think they live about as long as we do. Maybe a little longer because of their healthier lifestyles. The Alicorns have extremely long lifespans, but I don't think they are immortal. Battle not with monsters, lest ye become a monster, and if you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you. BizzarePony 199 October 31, 2011 Share October 31, 2011 I would have to agree. If there was a time before Celestia and Luna, they must have been born, and therefore are most likely not immortal. Now, if they were linked directly to the sun and moon, they would probably be immortal, but they are just so immensely powerful that they can control them. Regular ponies, I would estimate to live slightly longer than humans. Brace yourself. Winter is coming.
Viscra Maelstrom 3,718 October 31, 2011 Share October 31, 2011 Luna and Celestia must've had parents once in their lifespans, otherwise how would they be where they are now? Unless they were "born" by some other means, but they must still have had somepony to take care of them whne they were young. As for regular ponies, since Granny Smith was rather old when AJ was still a young filly, they must have a lifespan slightly longer than the one of humans. Pinkie Prectar 43 October 31, 2011 Share October 31, 2011 Earth, Pegasus and Unicorn ponies: probably around 70-100 years. Maybe Granny Smith is going on her 111th birthday? Alicorns: Most likely like that of the Numenor (again LOTR reference) up to about 1000 years. And maybe Celestia and Luna are immortal since they are connecting to the cycles of day and night. Viscra Maelstrom 3,718 October 31, 2011 Share October 31, 2011 Well, that could be. There is nothing saying that there doesn't exist alicorns aside from Luna and Celestia. Soundcloud---------Twitter---------Tumblr---------DeviantArt
Sheogorath 1,155 October 31, 2011 Share October 31, 2011 With the aid of both medicine and magical curative spells I can estimate them to reach even ages as old as 150. But more like 70-80 on average.
BizzarePony 199 October 31, 2011 Share October 31, 2011 Ponies are like hobbits, and alicorns are like wizards. (I'm just in a LotR mood today.) Brace yourself. Winter is coming.

PlNKlE PIE 364 November 1, 2011 Share November 1, 2011 IT's Over 9000!!!! What?! 9000?! That's... possible, given unicorn magic. Immortality spells. SBaby 660 November 2, 2011 Share November 2, 2011 Unless they DO all live forever, like Celestia. The world of Equestria clearly works differently from other worlds, so it really isn't all that out of line to think that it could be a plausible theory. A Winner Is You!!! Lady Rarity Pony 4,892 November 2, 2011 Author Share November 2, 2011 they've never said anything about them dying from age but they clearly age in some way :L Equestria science is strange LRP's opinions are subject to change without notice. Captain Marvelous 544 November 2, 2011 Share November 2, 2011 Since we are going with a fictional show where humans are replaced with ponies, I would say that these ponies will live to about our average lives... I would say unicorns live the longest *aside the alicorns* depending on their connection to magic. Magic on a basic form is known to leave a strong essence that can last a very long time, so depending on how strong with magic a pony may be, they may live longer... such as I would say Twilight will probably live out all of her friends *aside from Spike of course* okay ponies, give me all your treasure. "I will destroy all the riders"
Finesthour 7,287 November 5, 2011 Share November 5, 2011 Well like everyone else is saying, this is basicly like real life but with ponies. So wouldn't they live an average life span?

I am Roseluck 13 November 5, 2011 Share November 5, 2011 i just noticed this, but when Rarity is recalling how she got her cutie mark and its that show, I see Bon Bon and all those people looking the same as they do now. Also, when Applejack is telling of when she was just a little filly, Granny Smith looks the same? It might not be just Celestia and Luna who are immortal. Lady Rarity Pony 4,892 November 5, 2011 Author Share November 5, 2011 (edited) Well the alicorns like Clestia and Luna definitely seem to be immortal. As for the ponies themselves it's never been explicitly stated whether they die or not. Granny Smith clearly has aged so it's possible but it's something we may never know -_- But considering we don't see ancient ponies, chances are they live to around standard human age. Swoop 2,278 November 5, 2011 Share November 5, 2011 Twilight has an anvil, a cart full of hay, and a piano dropped on her head from a substantial height, and miraculously makes a full recovery. No scratches, bruises or scars whatsoever. I how no clue how the hell pony physics and biochemical processes work over in Equestria, but i sure the same principals applied over here, minus the whole monstrous gender imbalance situation.
